Monday, 30 January 2012 22:03
Gunn Breaks Silence: “Our Time Is Now Roy…let’s Make this Fight Happen” Former IBA Cruiserweight Champion and current World Heavyweight Bare Knuckle Boxing Champion Bobby Gunn has patiently waited for a response from Roy Jones Jr.’s team following Jones’ announcement last week on a live boxing radio show that he will fight Gunn next.  There have been no moves forward about Jones fighting David Haye or Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, and Gunn spoke out to urge Jones’ team to make this fight happen. Bobby Gunn:  "Roy, I truly do wish you the best success, but I got to thinking, and in order for you to really get the big, big fights, you have to have a spectacular performance; the same goes for me.  You are not going to get a world title fight by winning another 10 rounded lopsided sparring session.  It isn’t about if you win or lose Roy; it is about how you are remembered and that you left it all in the ring.  You don’t want to be remembered for the...   SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Five-time world champion Cory Spinks won a unanimous decision over Sechew Powell on Saturday at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, Mo., in an elimination bout to determine the IBF junior middleweight No. 1 ranking, and hometown cruiserweight B.J. Flores moved closer to a world title match by stopping Colombian veteran Hugo Pineda. Spinks (39-6, 11 KOs), a former undisputed welterweight champion and subsequent two-time IBF junior middleweight champion, had been thought by some to be near the end of his career after losing the IBF 154-pound crown to Cornelius “K9” Bundrage in 2010.  Spinks rededicated himself to the sport but was still the underdog entering the ring this past weekend to face Powell (26-3, 15 KOs), the IBF No. 5-ranked contender. Spinks swept all three judges’ scorecards 116-112 and 115-113, twice. “I was in perfect condition and felt like I could do anything I wanted during the fight,” Spinks said.  “Powell thought he was going... Monday, 30 January 2012 12:54
READING, PA (January 30, 2012) - Highly-regarded American heavyweight hopeful Travis Kauffman of Reading, PA is recovering from his second consecutive surgery to correct a fracture in his right hand. The surgery took place this past Thursday and will sideline the 26-year-old for the next few months, leaving him unable to compete on King's Promotions "Heavyweight Explosion" card at the Rodeway Inn in Allentown, PA on Saturday, February 25. Kauffman (22-1, 17 KO), will have screws in his hand for the next 4-6 weeks, followed by physical therapy. He was advised that he won't be able to punch for the next 3-4 months, but hopes to return to the ring before the end of the year after fighting just once in 2011. "It's frustrating because I've had to turn down fights against guys that I know I can beat because of the injury," said Kauffman. "On the bright side, I'm healthy other than my hand and get to spend time with my family without worrying about leaving to go to training camp. I'm 26... Read more...

(January 28, 2012) - Love will be scarce when Meriden’s Danny Aquino and Coy Evans of Philadelphia get it on in a post-Valentine’s Day affair, topping Hard Hittin’ Promotions’ six-fight extravaganza February 18 at the Lion’s Den in Middletown, Conn.             The eight-round headliner, presented by promoter Jacqui Cartelli, is for the UNBC super bantamweight title, pitting Aquino (9-1, 4 KOs) against the swift-fisted Evans (10-0-1, 2 KOs), who looks to keep his unblemished resume intact against one of Connecticut’s fastest-rising prospects.
