Freitas returns June 2 vs. Oliveira in Uruguay MIAMI (March 6, 2012) - MO Productions president Carlos Oliveira announced today that the long rumored fight between retired Brazilian living legend, four-time world champion Acelino "Popo" Freitas, and undefeated World Boxing Council South American middleweight champion Michael "The Brazilian Rocky" Oliveira, will take place June 2 at Conrad Punta Del Este and Resort Casino in Uruguay. The 10-round Freitas-Oliveira main event will be contested at 154-pounds. The remainder of the card will be announced at a later date. "Everything was finalized yesterday and 'Popo' signed the contract," Carlos said from Sao Paulo. "We're all very excited that the deal has been made for what will be a huge event for Brazilians. We have a beautiful venue in nearby Uruguay. The fight will air live on Global TV in Brazil and Uruguay television."  LOS ANGELES (Mar. 5) - As Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KOs) made easy work of his voluntary opponent, Jean Marc Mormeck (36-5, 22 KOs) Saturday in Germany, a 6'5, 255 lb. heavyweight was watching from the states knowing he "Got Next." That man was Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KOs), and he is the IBF mandatory challenger for Wladamir in a bout to take place no later than mid-July. "I wasn't really impressed with either performance," said Thompson. "It was an infomercial at best. Mormeck is a tough cruiserweight but he's not an impressive opponent for the heavyweight champion of the world." The NBC Sports Network and Main Events officially announced today that they have added a new date - June 1st - to the schedule of the network's popular nationally televised "Fight Night" boxing series. The new show will originate from the Events Center of the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA. Headlining the card co-promoted by Peltz Boxing will be a 10-round junior middleweight fight between "King" Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia, 19-5, 11 KOs, and Miami's Joel Julio, 37-4, 31 KOs. Julio, the hard-hitting veteran known as "The Love Child" has twice fought for a world title, and is coming off a points win over tough Anges Adjaho last May. Rosado is the rising star in the 154-pound division who stole the show in the very first "Fight Night" broadcast in January. PROVIDENCE (February 20, 2012) -- 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada returns to the ring March 9 at home, headlining an entertaining "Who's Next?" card that will feature many of New England's most popular boxers, at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. "Who's Next?" is presented by Big Six Entertainment. Estrada will face an opponent to soon be approved and announced in the eight-round main event.
