BRONX, NY (April 1, 2012) 'The Fighting Pride of Huntington, New York, Chris Algieri proved once again why he is a fast rising star in the junior welterweight division as he stopped Rochester's Winston Mathis in the second round before a sold out, "loud and proud" hometown crowd at The Paramount on Saturday Night, March 31st.  Headlining Joe DeGuardia's ROCKIN' FIGHTS 3, Algieri improved to 14-0-0 with seven stoppages as he blasted a devastating left hook to the body of Mathis in the third round. With the game Mathis unable to continue, referee Arthur Mercante Jr. waived off the bout at the 0:53 mark of the stanza. Mathis' record moves to 7-5-1 (2KO's).
