ALBUQUERQUE, NM (May 29, 2012) - Last December, French knockout artist Anne Sophie Mathis (26-1, 22 KOs) fought in the United States for the first time, stopping nine-time World Champion Holly "The Preacher's Daughter" Holm (30-2-3, 9 KOs) to capture International Boxing Association (IBA) and WBAN titles, as well as the mythical women's pound-for-pound championship. Holm has lost only twice in nearly eight years, including her shocking seventh-round loss by knockout to Mathis, which snapped Holly's 24-fight unbeaten streak. Their much-anticipated 10-round rematch is set for June 15 at the same site as their Dec. 2 fight, headlining the Fresquez Productions presented "The Reckoning" at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. "I think this fight will be harder and I feel that I need to knockout her out again to win," Mathis said from her training camp in France. "I don't think she will come out looking to be confrontational. I'm certain there is an advantage for me having knocked... Read more...

Quillin-Wright is the 10-round Showtime co-feature at Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Thirty-two years to the day (June 2), Pedro left his native Cuba en route to Miami on boats with his fellow countrymen in search of freedom. "It was like a scene from 'Scarface' and my father was on the last boat," Peter explained. "He ran off the boat so fast he left his shirt and shoes on the boat. They gave him flip-flops and he thought that they were high-end sandals because he was America." Quillin explained that his father had served 13 years in prison for illegally selling beef. Pedro was a butcher and there was a strict food allotment in Cuba. He slaughtered cows and... Read more...

LINCOLN, R.I. (May 23, 2012) – Reigning New England super middleweight champion Vladine Biosse has a bone to pick with whoever came up with the title, “Up For Grabs,” for tomorrow night’s long-awaited showdown at Twin River. “I earned that title in my first fight on ESPN two years ago,” Biosse said Wednesday in reference to his win over Joey McCreedy in July of 2010 on “Friday Night Fights” at Twin River. “There’s nothing up for grabs tomorrow night.” The truth is Biosse (12-1-1, 6 KOs) will be defending his title and his reputation as “Mr. Providence” when he faces fellow Providence native Joey “K.O. Kid” Spina (26-2-2, 18 KOs) in the eight-round main event of Thursday’s show at the Event Center, presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports. Both fighters made weight Wednesday with no issue; Biosse clocked in at the super middleweight limit of 168 pounds while Spina – traditionally a light heavyweight – came in at 167 ½. “We...
