Shane McGuigan is one of the brightest trainers in boxing even at?only 27 years old. Despite his age, he is still very much on the upswing and figures to have an excellent future with a fine stable that includes former cruiserweight and heavyweight world title holder David Haye, middleweight world title challenger George Groves and of course super-bantamweight king, Carl Frampton. Shane was an amateur fighter but decided not to turn professional, instead deciding to take on the training responsibility for Carl Frampton. He led the Northern Irishman to the IBF super-bantamweight world title and was in his corner for high profile showdown in the UK against Scott Quigg. Frampton also took another undefeated record in 2016 with McGuigan’s help; that of Leo Santa Cruz.Frampton is on a short list for?fighter of the year and it goes without saying that McGuigan played a huge role in the success "The Jackal" had. Shane is the son of the famous champion now boxing promoter Barry McGuigan. He is so young that he doesn’t remember his father’s biggest night in the ring but he proudly carries on the family tradition. Shane looks to have a busy 2017, as he already has Frampton in a big rematch against Leo Santa Cruz and now now David Hayes return to the ring against Tony Bellew. George Groves is also working towards another world title shot this year. With much more to come in his still very young career, Shane McGuigan is sure to be a household name just like his father by making his mark in his own way. For his excellent 2016 stable of fighters and big wins he gets TSSs Trainer of the Year Award.
