Boxing Odds – Gonzalez vs. Yaegashi for WBC Flyweight Title September 5!

Akira Yaegashi HaraAkira Yaegashi finds himself in the unusual position of having come off a total of four consecutive wins for the WBC flyweight title and yet will enter his fourth bout in defense of that title as an underdog. WBC flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi will face challenger Roman Gonzalez on September 5 for the WBC flyweight title belt. Roman Gonzalez was a -420 favorite with the boxing odds while Akira Yaegashi was a +320 dog. The bout will take place in Yoyogi #2 Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan on September 5.

Roman Gonzalez

The 27 year old Roman Gonzalez stands at five feet three inches tall with a reach of 63 inches and fights from an orthodox stance. He is a native of Barrio La Esperanza, Managua Nicaragua where he still resides in the city of Managua. Gonzalez is the top ranked flyweight in Nicaragua and the fifth ranked flyweight in the world. He is undefeated in his career with 39 bouts and 39 wins with 33 of his wins coming by knockout. Gonzalez is coming off a technical knockout win over Juan Purisima on April 6, 2014 in the third round of a scheduled eight round bout at the Ota City General Gym in Tokyo, Japan.

Akira Yaegashi

The 31 year old Akira Yaegashi stands at five feet three and one half inches tall with a reach of 63 and one half inches and fights from an orthodox stance. Yaegashi was born in Kitakami, Iwate, Japan and resides in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. He has a career record of 23 bouts with 20 wins and three losses. Out Yaegashi's total of 20 career wins a total of 10 have come by knockout while he has never suffered a knockout defeat. Yaegashi is ranked as the top flyweight both in Japan and in the world. Yaegashi is coming off a nine round knockout win over Odilon Zaleta in a scheduled 12 round bout that was for the WBC flyweight title and his third successive title belt defense. The bout took place at the Ota City General Gym in Tokyo, Japan on April 6, 2014. He originally won the WBC flyweight title on April 8, 2013 with a 12 round unanimous decision win over Toshiyuki Igarashi.
