2013 11 22 16 16 09 afe01It hasn't been the best of months for Brandon Rios. The gritty and profane hitter was handled with ease by Manny Pacquiao when they faced off in Macau on Nov. 23, and though he exited with a pretty payday, his rep took a further hit when it was disclosed that he failed his postfight drug test. ESPN's Dan Rafael reported that Rios, loser of a runaway decision to Pacman, tested positive for a stimulant, called methylhexaneamine. That chemical, which was deemed dangerous by the FDA this past April, was originally sold as a decongestant, but is now illegal to sell in the US.

After many decades of being moribund, it gained popularity when supplement crafter Patrick Arnold, who popularized andro and "the clear," put it in weight-loss products. Arnold, a former cohort of Victor Conte, used the ban on ephedrine to sell methyl, as people searched for substitutes. In some regions, methyl is an ingredient in black market pills sold as euphoriants.

The testing on Pacman and Rios was performed by VADA.

In Rafael's story, promoter Bob Arum laid the blame for the positive at the feet of the strength, conditionign and supplement advisor for Rios for this bout, Alex Ariza.

Radam G says:

Alex Ariza was desperated for a Bam Bam to win, so Ariza got caught up into trying to sneak dat syet into Bam Bam's system and by throw off the VADA's at-the-top-level testing.

The boxing powers that be ought to suspend Ariza for tampering with a fighter's diet, just as they suspend trainers for allegedly tampering with the handwraps and allegedly putting "Paris of plaster" on them. Holla!

amayseng says:

I read either this stimulant could be to drop weight or to mask and hide other performance enhancers........

Either way Pac looked superb. Rios will be suspended a year I am sure either way and I agree Radam Ariza

should be as well. And fined

Radam G says:

Don't believe the weight-loss jive. Bam Bam's conditioning coach was masking the hard stuff. Bam Bam had that syet in his system. And he's dead busted.

Remember how weak and worn that he was before the bout. Ariza gave Bam Bam a boost and masking agent the day of the fight. Tricks of the trade are everywhere.

Team Bam Bam is straight-up busted. Now you see why Ariza was so hostile and attacking a disabled elder. Holla!

amayseng says:

Expect nothing less from a soulless Ariza.

Rios, well he has more issues than taking PEDS and punches while smiling like a fool, Rios you just got smacked by a Pac 6 punch combo and didnt even return one punch, why are you smiling?

Worse, the language Rios uses in front of his toddler children and kids. NO excuse for that. No matter what his weak wife says or allows, no excuse..

Radam G says:

Wow! Ariza is now saying that VADA has suspected integrity. He's claiming a setup by VADA because he says the test administer "forced Rios to pee in a Chinese (drinking) glass and then poured the urine in the testing package."

Typical cheat! Blame the precredures as being compromised by mishandling. Holla!

Radam G says:

I hope that you guys recalled that a few days before the Rios-Pacquiao Bout, the phony-arse Ariza said that VADA had tested Bam Bam in the USA three times and "tested Manny zero times in the Philippines." And that Da Manny "would not be tested until arriving in Macau."

Wow! Ariza was straight-up lying his butt off, as his busted arse is doing now. Holla!

brownsugar says:

that's some real diabolical stuff if that's how it went down RG.
