In four months it'll be nearly eight years since WBC heavyweight title holder Vitali Klitschko 41-2 (38) was stopped by former champ Lennox Lewis after the sixth round of their title clash at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Vitali, due to a terrible eye gash suffered during the bout, was not allowed to come out for the seventh round. At the time of the stoppage Klitschko was leading on all three judges scorecards by two points. Since trading punches with Lewis back in June of 2003, Vitali hasn't been really pushed to the point to where he's faced adversity in any of his subsequent bouts. Due to the way Vitali's face seemed to bust up and all the injuries and postponements he's been subject to since fighting Lewis, most boxing observers have been predicting how Vitali's body will soon implode and that'll pretty much be it for him as far as being an elite heavyweight and title holder. Well, nearly eight years and nine fights later, Vitali is still one of the two premier heavyweights in boxing (along with his younger brother Wladimir) and hasn't lost since fighting Lewis. amayseng says: ummm. this guy has tested positive for steroids how many times? brownsugar says: I think this is Solis's fight to win or lose... more than it being about what Vitali has left on his biological clock,... it depends much more on how hard Solis is willing to work. I've heard stories about Solis quoting various sources (health and conditioning experts) attempting to validate that his weight is not a hindrance to his physical conditioning. To me it's a bit scary that a big dude like Solis feels that he has to justify his weight by quoting folks who agree with the absurd notion that being overweight has nothing to do with an athletes performance. Usually that would be a telltale sign that he has some issues with over-eating and that he's in serious denial. If it weren't for the fact that Solis wasn't one of the most extraordinary Amateur athletes of this generation... I'd probably be more concerned. It has to take an incredible drive to compete at the level that Solis has.. he defeated Feliz Savon (a 3 time gold medalist) who had defeated the great Cuban Icon Teofilo Stephenson,... the only reason Solis didn't go to the Olympics that year was because the Cuban Government wanted Savon to pick up his third gold medal. The fact of Savon being 6'5" has to speak to Solis's ability to fight taller opponents. As good as Vitali is, he couldn't get past and old out of shape Lennox Lewis when he was in his prime. Busting up todays current crop of underachieving heavyweights is evidence of Vitalis' far better abilities but it's also not extremely noteworthy..... This is going to be an interesting fight,.. The first competitive fight that either K brother has been in.....in a long while.... In March We'll see just how fat and lazy Solis supposedly is. Isaiah says: @amayseng. Man, that's funny. Someone's starting to sound like a Mayweather groupie and non boxing fan who won't give a dominating warrior such as Vitali any credit. Love the logic that if he's THAT good, he must be on steroids. That isn't anything but a little jealous, SISSY response. REAL men, sign the contract, get in the ring and fight. What? Did Vitali beat you up and steal your lunch money? I bet even his little brother doesn't want any. That's probaly the real reason they'll never fight, so Wladimir can continue to be the champ. I have a song for you, it's called ::Throw a hissyfit and cry me a river of excuses.:: Radam G says:
Whatever poison that works! Doc Vitali seems to be doing well with the usage of his young son's pee pee on those old bones. As sorry as the heavyweight division is, and if Doc keeps using that peepee from his weewee, he will be just fine. Besides that is what he believes, and a belief is the strongest dope -- I mean antidote -- on earth. Maybe that peepee is reversing da doc age. Holla!

There are no heavies around and in shape that could push long-in-da-tooth Doc VK to the edge. These nowadays heavies are pathetically fat arses and sorry ta da max. For carrying all that fat, there should be a fatty tax. Larry Holmes recently said that his sparring partners would have kayoed the K-Bros/Docs. By gaddy, I think that he's about spot on. Holla!
