It wasn't as bad as many feared, a sparring match between two men who'd grown fond of each other, which kept them from truly trying to take each others' head off. But it was pretty close to that, to be frank. If and when I'm buying fights for these cable behemoths, I won't buy fights pitting pal vs pal. Bute was the busier man, going 306-678 to 128-572 for Johnson. The IBF super middleweight champion Bute (age 31; born in Romania, lives in Quebec; 29-0 with 24 KOs) weighed 167.4 pound, while Johnson (age 42; from Jamaica, living in Miami; 51-15-2 with 35 KOs) was 166 1/2. amayseng says: i dont think glen got old, that guy can fight until hes 50, no joke. he threw a lot of punches, had good mobility, he was just short a lot and was getting pushed back by butes speed and pop. bute can bang, he has great power, the type of power that hurts, not buzzing like a mayweather, not thudding like a madaina, but hurtful power that stops you in your tracks and puts you in retreat. seriously, i have never seen glen backing up, when has glen not been stalking and walking down his opponent? Radam G says: WOW! Bute was an undercovered fudging BRUTE in dat squared jungle. He apparently hit the ancient "Road Warrior" so hard with subliminal shots, that the Road Warrior musta' fo'got nine-tenths of the bout. Hehehehehe! WTF! amayseng says: i like andre ward, im a fan, i just dont think he has enough fire power to deter bute. stylistically, with butes speed and power, angles and southpaw stance i see him giving ward a lot of problems. ward had a hard time scoring and opening up AA, of course AA is in that shell defense, but AA gave ward problems early one. There is a reason that men over 40 who excel in the squared circle are still the exception, not the norm. The body is only capable of going so many miles, no matter the superb supplements available, despite the advances made in strength and conditioning techniques. Glen Johnson, at age 42, showed that his body, while still functioning at an impressive level, no longer is capable of really hanging in with true world class fighters, like Lucian Bute.

Well I was dead wrong on this one. Glenn did not win a round. Looked like a combination of Glenn got old and Bute was too fast. I look forward to seeing Bute in with Ward and/or Froch. Congrats to Bute. Kirkland-Angulo was fight of the night. Wrong there too. I thought Angulo all the way but Kirkland proved he can walk through Hell. I cant see Canelos brain trust putting him in with a beast like Kirkland any time soon. Four good fights tonight.
