Crolla vs Burns Results From Manchester - The Manchester Arena hosted an all-British duel in the lightweight division Saturday night as Anthony Crolla faced Ricky Burns.

Kudos to the city of Manchester and their boxing fans for creating a raucous atmosphere for the fights, especially the main event. The all-British showdown of former world champions got off to a methodical start, as expected. The former sparring partners were nothing but respectful in the build-up to Saturday's fight but once the pair met in the ring there was a lot of tension.

Both men delivered a back and forth battle that saw no knockdowns. Crolla seemed to be the crisper, sharper fighter in the first half of the fight. Once both fighters began to tire, Burns' "gameness" and experience started to show and he appeared to be banking rounds. There was drama heading into the final round and there were murmurings of a draw but at the end of the day the judges had Crolla comfortably ahead by scores of 116-113,117-112,116-114. Crolla will make a bid for another world title fight at 135 pounds after banking the win. As for Burns, he will once again have to endure calls for his retirement.

Eddie Hearn announced that young, second generation fighter Conor Benn would be fighting in the United States on November 11th after he won his ninth professional fight when he stopped Nathan Clarke in round one of their scheduled six round bout. Benn is the son of former middleweight world champion Nigel Benn and his career is being guided closely by Hearn and his Matchroom company.

The results of the features bouts on the thirteen fight card appear below.

Crolla-Burns was a very good professional fight. Maybe not as much action as I thought but close and competitive throughout. I edged Crolla 115-113.

I agree I enjoyed that fight and I think I like Ricky Burns even though he lost.
