Lou Duva (May 28th, 1922 - March 8th, 2017) - Word is coming in that the boxing world lost one of it’s most revered trainers earlier today with the passing of Lou Duva. Duva was boen Louis Duva on May 28th, 1922 in New York City. In the sixties he was associated with boxing through his friendship with Rocky Marciano and he successfully led middleweight Joey Giardello to the world title in the late 1960’s. The list of champions he tutored went on to include the likes of Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Michael Moorer, Pernell Whitaker, Meldrick Taylor, Arturo Gatti and Hector Camacho, just to name a few. In 1978 Duva launched Main Events, a promotional company still operated by Duva’s daughter in law Kathy Duva to this day. Lou Duva was inducted into the Canastota, New York International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1998.   R.I.P.
