The correspondent for the Hartford Courant saw it even, though his eyebrow was raised before Leto’s hand was. Here’s why: In the eighth round, Cocoa Kid threw a wide right that landed on Leto’s chin, turning him completely around.  Boxing in Brazil got a nice pop when Acelino "Popo" Freitas spent some time in the sun, and redirected a portion of the attention of the soccer-made nation to the prizefight ring. Freitas was a super featherweight champion from 1999-2004, and won lightweight belts in 2004 and 2006. He exited the game following a loss to Juan Diaz in 2007, with a 38-2 mark.... Read more...

 This past Saturday night WBC heavyweight title holder Vitali Klitschko 42-2 (39) made the sixth successful defense of his title with a first round stoppage over the WBC's number one ranked contender, Odlanier Solis 17-1 (12). With the fight having lasted barely three minutes, it's hard to draw many definitive conclusions on anything other than what actually transpired during the round it lasted - other than the fact that Vitali Klitschko is clearly the best and most difficult heavyweight in the world to confront in the ring. But the bottom line at TSS is: we hope the lawyer-stuff finishes up, so Pacman and Mayweather can get in the ring.
