    What is Arum Planning?

Social media was buzzing this weekend with a rumored imminent announcement from Top Rank regarding a new platform for its fighters.

For some time, Top Rank has been on a signing binge but with it being well known that its UniMas deal was bleeding money as well as receiving fewer HBO dates had many wondering how Top Rank would be showcasing its talent. Then at the Crawford-Diaz press conference Arum seemed less than enthusiastic regarding his future relationship with HBO. Obviously something is going on.

Well supposedly we find out this week. The two rumors popping are over social media this week are as follows. Arum could be planning an online subscription based model that is similar to what the WWE is currently doing. At say a price tag of $9.99 a month, fans would get access to plenty of live boxing showcasing both club level shows as well as bigger events. Plus, Top Rank would open up its content of past fights for fans to view anytime they please.

Keep in mind for years Top Rank has been live streaming undercards of their bigger shows free to fans in the US. This has gotten great reception and really been built over the course of the last few years. Top Rank may have been dipping its toes into this kind of live streaming to gauge for future interest.

The other thought is that Arum will unveil a new subscription based boxing network similar to that of BoxNation in the UK. This would carry a monthly subscription fee (like an HBO or Showtime) and again feature many live events from club shows to bigger fights. And showcase other boxing program as well as fights from Top Rank's vast library.

Or it could be a mix of both above or something entirely out of the blue.

Something is going on though that will change how boxing is shown in the US. My personal guess is that we do see an online subscription model similar to that of WWE but with a twist. Arum may announce a separate tv deal with someone that will showcase some bigger fights as well as smaller. So all his eggs won't be in one basket.

Pacquiao-Horn still does not have a US tv deal. It is rumored to be the first fight on this new platform. The fight is about a month away. Top Rank's big announcement will be coming any day now.

I know there may be another announcement coming in the sport but keep a close eye on Top Rank this week. Big news on their new platform is imminent and hopefully will be something that will greatly increase visibility of the sport in the United States. This announcement in my opinion is far bigger and important to the sport then the other announcement we could unfortunately be hearing.

Some kind of much more interactive viewing experience for his PPV's.

Multiple views etc, camera angles, the works, that's my prediction.

It is much bigger than that. Almost certainly will be a new platform for the sport. It remains to be seen what that platform or platforms will be and just how extensive their coverage of the sport will be.

Rumors circulating social media that Top Rank is going to announce a major buy time deal with ESPN/ABC.

Could we see Pac-Horn on ESPN in a few weeks? Maybe or maybe there is more to the announcement..
