Yes, on one hand it seems James should not be allowed to fight.
There is a good case for that.
But, then on the other hand . . .
There is the fact that . . .
“No way should he be given a license to box.”
Also, (especially to Toney) means . . .
“No way should James be allowed to earn a living, feed his family, and given a license to box.”
It’s not like James can fall back on a career in law like Marco Antonio Barerra did.
Sure, some calls to prevent James from fighting on may (claim to) have his best interests at heart.
But, let’s face it, not like they’re prepared to divert the same effort/energy into a trutst fund that will meaningfully keep James and his family’s head above water; in the same way a cheque for delivered services will.
And that’s what James needs.
At the end of the day . . . .
It’s James’ decision as to whether he wants to continue in the sport, earn money, and put food on the table.
And, as long as he passes the medicals, then I guess it’s fair he fights on, earns a living from doing it, and supports his family.
Also, it’s not like he’s going to do too much additional damage to himself fighting the guys he fights; like Sheppard.
Plus, Toney has served the sport well enough and is more of a legend than some others out there whom are showered in praise . . .
So I say (whilst I share your concern for his health) let him do what he wants and let’s not take his ability to earn a living from him.
I wonder what the odds are on Sheppard winning/losing?
