Lemieux is hoping the strong performance will propel him back into the title picture at 160 pounds. Lemieux is best remembered for his October of 2015 loss to Gennady Golovkin in New York City and on HBO pay-per-view where Golovkin tenderized him before finishing the fight in the eighth round. Lemieux has gone 3-0 since then but several of those performances have been lukewarm and he has been plagued by weight problems, even having a fight cancelled in his hometown of Montreal.
This fight was Stevens saw Lemieux fighting back in the United States (though Verona is not far from home) and on HBO again and he clearly took the fight seriously. He appeared to have no trouble making the weight and he clearly retained his stopping power. What could be next for David Lemieux?
