Deontay Wilder Defends Heavyweight Belt Saturday

Deontay Wilder Defends Heavyweight Belt Saturday - WBC World heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder returns to action this coming Saturday in his home state of Alabama as he faces undefeated former football player Gerald Washington in a fight set to air on FOX.

Wilder is entering the ring for the first time since July of last year when he made a successful title defense against Chris Arreola. In that fight, Wilder sustained multiple injuries to his right arm this is his return fight. Wilder was originally scheduled to take on Poland’s Andrzej Wawrzyk, but he was replaced by Washington a few weeks ago due to a positive PED test.

A second world title fight is also on the bill as the vacant IBF World super welterweight title is in dispute between Jarrett Hurd and Tony Harrison.
