Deontay Wilder Gets His Stay Busy Opponent

Heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder looks to make it 32-0 straight KO's one week from tomorrow when he faces veteran Jason Gavern as part of the Shawn Porter-Kell Brook undercard in Carson, CA.

Gavern is 25-16-4 and has faced the likes of Amir Mansour, Mariusz Wach, Alexander Ustinov, Steve Cunningham and Denis Boytsov. Only Mansour (KO 1) stopped him early.

Let's see how long he lasts against Wilder, whose next fight will most likely be a shot at Bermane Stiverne and his WBC Heavyweight Title late this year.

Its a smart move by Wilder to stay busy. To many fighters get in that mandatory position and then sit out waiting for the fight to materialize. In the mean time, they lost some sharpness and ring rust starts to creep in as well.

Gavern is a trial horse and the right kind of opponent for Wilder given the situation he is in at the moment.

They were looking for a guy around Stiverne's height and weight, and found that guy in Gavern. Unfortunately for Jason, he doesn't have Stiverne's hand speed.

    Here comes win #32.

It's that 33rd straight victory we're all waiting for.

Shame on the guy from Alabama. Whuppin' up on a zombie with his "Bronze Bomber" sludge hamma.' It is should be a law against beating up on the living dead. And it is not helping Deontay with what is ahead. Holla!
