Thanks Grimm ...you taught me a new word.
My pleasure. This has nothing to do with neither boxing nor Katsidis-Earl, but since you're a man of words: an interesting oddity about finnish is that its closest linguistic cousin is hungarian. When you look at a map of Europe, Finland is in the far north, and Hungary in central/east-central Europe. Strange are the patterns of migration. And no other than finns understand an iota of what they're saying - besides sisu and satana perkkele! These are great words, handy in the world of boxing.

Hyvä Suomi! Suomalainen sisu is the best! Those Finns will break insurmountable barriers of pain thanks to their sisu. It's something drilled into them from young. Finland is a great country.. Some decent middleweights and heaviest they've got too!

@Skibbz: Hyvä Suomi? You impress. Guess you've come across a mean finn or two in the amateur rings?

@brownsugar: Yeah, but more than the winters, Finland has a history of several hundred years under swedish rule, followed by russian rule, followed by three wars during a span of only some decades - a civil war, the so called 'Winter War' when Soviet invaded during WWII, and the 'continuation war' when Finland joined arms with the germans in order to take back lost land and attacked Soviet. Add a large portion of silent, nordic machismo and you get a people that you don't mess around with.

Like Skibbz pointed out: great country, really beautiful, with some good fighters in their annals. I shared gym with alot of finns during my years in Gothenburg, and one of them went on to become national champion. Swell guy. Almost never said a word, just went in there, did his business and raised his arm after victory without changing facial expression. These dudes are faaar from Broner.

@Grimm ... Well you just smashed my stereotypical view of Finns Yodeling to their sheep from the hillside wearing shorts, suspenders, and oversized wooden shoes. Ill never look at Finnis people the same way again.
