PROCLAMATION In connection with its 51st Annual Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, and the visit by WBC World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko, the World Boxing Council Board of Governors issued the following proclamation:
WHEREAS, Vitali Klitschko has proven himself not only an exemplary champion in the boxing ring, but also a role model for youth around the world and an ambassador of goodwill for people everywhere, and
WHEREAS, Vitali Klitschko is a pride of the WBC and the sport of boxing, and
WHEREAS, the WBC’s concern is always for the boxers and their success, not only in the ring, but in their lives,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the WBC, representing 165 countries around the world, joins in absolute solidarity and consensus to offer Vitali Klitschko the very best wishes for success in his campaign for the Presidency of his country, Ukraine, as well as to convey our best wishes, respects, and hopes for unity to all the Ukrainian people.
Board of Governors World Boxing Council Bangkok, Thailand 2013 WBC Cares Chairperson Jill Diamond led a visit for a group of champions and other convention attendees to the Apichet Panjarat Orphanage in Bangkok on Thursday afternoon. Former world champions Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez and Nigel Benn, WBC Female featherweight world champion Jelena Mrdjenovich, International Silver heavyweight champion Manuel Charr, and others shared their time with the children. Mr. Kiate Sirigul helped coordinate the visit, and Jill made a donation of 25,000 baht and clothes to the orphanage on behalf of WBC Cares.
I hate it when I miss these big gala-like events. Anyone, can you please tell me who won for "Best Supporting Weasel To A Commission That Makes Things Up As They Go, Not To Mention Collaborated With Others To Attempt To Destroy A Virtually Indestructible Sport In A Record-Setting Time, Considering They've Only Been At It For A Relatively Brief Period Of Time Given The Several Thousand Year History Of The Sport" category?
Also, were there any real good sound bites from the Pope's acceptance speech?
Lastly, I don't care about your religious beliefs or non-beliefs, this Pope is a tremendous man.
Reminds me of when Roy Jones relinquished the light heavyweight crown and the WBC scheduled a fight for the vacant title between Rocchi and Nunn. Jones said he changed its mind and the WBC reinstated Jones title. Rocchi sued and the impending lawsuit threatened to bury the WBC forever. But somehow the conniving WBC begged themselves off the hook and have been unstoppable ever since. How ironic is that.
JSTYK, B-Sug. Roc won a 34-million-dollar lawsuit against the WBC. It declared bankruptcy, and then got Roc on its back by making him WBC champ of something that I don't recall and letting Don King pay Roc $3mil to settle the lawsuit. Holla!
Anybody for instance Joe Rockhead can give the Pope an award and look like the best thing since sliced bread! I don't mo anything about this guy! He definitely has a good PR department! Tpdays reading in Sunday Mass was about Onan! Very appropriate Jose'!
