Has Golovkin Gone All Mayweather On Us?

Some bummed out fight fans have reached out and made clear their discontent. Why, Woodsy, is that #GolovkinLemieux weigh-in a VIP special?

Is he going all Mayweather on us?

To the contrary; here is why the Friday, Oct. 16 weigh-in for the middleweight MSG tangle between the baby-faced fighting pride of Kazahkstan and the model-pretty hammer-fisted fighter from Montreal is not open to all…

“It’s because there is limited capacity,” said Tom Loeffler, of K2, the promoter for 3G. The scale test will take place in the theater, and, thus, “MSG needs to know how many people are going to show up, as it’s too much of a variable for security. It’s not like Las Vegas, where they have the entire casino revolving around the fight card. They have a Knicks game at MSG Friday night, and a concert in the theater on Saturday night. Also, because of TV production, the theater capacity is much less than normal. We are NOT selling tickets to the weigh in, and it’s just to make sure it doesn’t go over capacity.”

So, you want to check out the gents in their skivvies and soak up the atmosphere the day before the day of reckoning?

Here is how to proceed:

Official Weigh-In

*VIP TICKETED EVENT*

Location: The Theater at Madison Square Garden (Corner of 33rd St. and 8th Ave., adjacent to Penn Station enter through glass doors)

11:00 a.m. – Doors Open

12:00 p.m. – Official Weigh-in Begins

*Fans must have tickets to attend. Fans interested in attending VIP Fan Weigh-in, follow #GolovkinLemieux for VIP ticket information

There ya go, now ya know…

Lol, i love the title, coming to america and landing a ppv event is every migrating and domestic fighters dream. Dont let anybody tell you different. At the face off Golovikin said he just couldn't wait to feel Lemieux's best punch, he even said in so many words that getting hit by David's best shot would be the highlight of the night. Similarly Lemieux said he was dying to enter Triple G's wheel house and experience first hand what it feels like to field a pwershot from the beast from the east, Translation "we are so glad to be getting this PPV money and will do anything to keep this awesome revenue stream going, we get hit for a living anyway, ...watch us fill the void" Young, ambitious, and ready to occupy the throne abdicated by the money man.... who wouldnt be????

-The Good Doctor :

I am still one of the few GGG holdouts but he has found his way to boxing's version of commercial success. He is now headlining a PPV and he is trying to go Mayweather and I have not one qualm with it. He has managed to do something already that Mayweather did early in his career outside of the ring and that is secure a deal as a spokesperson with a major company. Mayweather had AT&T, GGG now has Apple.

Did I - in some weird and unintentional way - coach or influence you to write that? As it's pretty much what I would say, and how I would say it. Good stuff!!!! 3G can't be doing a Mayweather on us as otherwise everyone would have to reassess how they think of Floyd. However if anyone disagrees and says Floyd is crap and 3G is not preserving his interests and/or simply can't fight Ward at 168, then they must be right. Love it !!! :) :)

You sir are definitely a boxing scholar, that's a very obscure piece of history, few remember that it was pretty boy who elevated Floyd to stardom, Money May merely tweaked and maximized the position. I also think GGG is the safest bet in town.

We've been hanging out here for a little while so maybe you're beginning to rub off. ....lol... I couldn't believe how accepting of each other these two were at the Face off, .....Max Kellerman doing his best to paint a picture of carnage and destruction, GGG and Lemieux making a pact with each other that the fight will not go the distance, ....and Golovkin doing his best to pretend that he is genuinely concerned. Leaving the fans expecting a Hagler/Hearns confrontation, but without the bad blood. The real bad blood is between Golovkin and Ward. But with Ward moving up in weight I doubt that we get that fight.

-Radam G :

This PPV scrap will not be even a decent draw. And 3g could never get close to being a Money May. Three g just doesn't have enough stinkism, satanism and sociopathism in him. Money May is and was bytch evil and trifling. Holla!

-mortcola :

Been watching Lemieux. Crude and inaccurate, even against straight up fighters. Hits hard but won?t get near GGG before he gets waylaid.

-stormcentre :

Lemieux will get shocked and hurt in this one, but he is perfect for 3G. :)

Every single fighter wishes to go "All Mayweather on us". These guys don't risk their lives in the ring for nothing and want to make sure they make as much money as possible while they're still active. It's their primary and only job after all. The days of glory are all gone and has no room at all in this era of human evolution.
