WARD RETURN SET: P4P Roc Ace Fighting June 20

His talents are undeniable, his innate skill as a prizefighter keeps him regarded as a top 5, or higher, pound for pound guy even though he hasn’t gloved up since November 2013.

But that shall soon change for Andre Ward, the Oakland, CA based pugilist/specialist who forms the building block of the Roc Nation boxing arm, along with Miguel Cotto.

Ward, possessing a 27-0 (14 Ks) mark, told me that he’s readying himself to rumble on June 20, in Oakland. And pray tell who will be his partner to do the fistic waltz on that date? “That’s coming soon,” he said. “I’m ready for whoever it is though.”

The weight isn’t cemented, he said, and he is open to moving to 175 soon, but it is likely this one will be at super middle.

Maybe Carl Froch? No, he said, the Brit wouldn’t dare come to Oakland.

Maybe if he went to England, and tied one hand behind his back..and agreed to weigh 160, Ward cracked. “He should believe in himself,” Ward said.

The TV platform will be announced shortly, word is.

Ward didn’t want to play the name game, he told me, and he said he isn’t a chaser type. “These fighters should want to fight me,” he said. Guys play ducking games, he stated, and that’s weak, basically.

“I’m excited, I’m happy, but even more so for my fans, who have been extremely patient, not just the Bay Area, but all over the world,” he said.

“I’m back,” he said, and I could hear the smile on his face.

Welcome back, SOG. We missed ya. Honestly, I don't even care who the opponent is. Just glad to see him back. Mark my words, he'll be back on top of the P4P list by the end of 2015. In the mean time, check out Ward dropping some science.

Honestly, while a lot of his HomeBoys in Da Town wanna support him. They think he's Hella Boring. I'm still gonna go and TailGate tho. Maybe like Marquez he can be a more Fan Friendly Fighter in the back end of his career.

I told cha that many of them will be back for a minute, anyway. I expect for MisterLee to holla soon. I know that he is watching and reading. Holla!

Ward is looking a bit old in the face. I hope he gets that weight off. I think Froch would fight Ward at Wembley. Ward would make the biggest purse there and would close the door on Froch's career possibly. fighting in front of 80,000 live would be something to look back on.

You're so right, but it's not gonna' happen. Ward is not heading to Wembley, just as Froch is not gonna' head to Oakland. Glad to hear he's coming back, though. What a year this is! -Randy G.

He should be fine, he's actually not that heavy. I spoke to him at the Garden (for Roc Nation event), he seriously looked no bigger than 175 to me. And he didn't look 6-1 to me either, they really embellish the heights of these boxers. Anyway, his people have indicated he's around 176-178 right now.

-Pazuzu :

I first read the article on the Forum and didn't catch the picture. Yeah, looks like he's aged a few years. His brow and cheeks may be starting to show the signs of his trade. But, man, he looks BIG. Not fat, just filled out. He's a grown man now, 31 years old. One, maybe two fights left at 168. Then it's up to 175...and a showdown with the Krusher? This is going to be good.

Normally the height is always "embellish." I guess that you can call it his boksing public relations's and promotion's height. Holla!

I think that possibly you may have been looking at him at a bad camera angle and without his talking-head-for-the-cameras makeup on. Holla!

Wicked - Ward is finally getting back into action

Pugilist/specialist ? The only time I can recall hearing those words, they were said by Lennox Lewis describing himself ! Andre Ward is definitely a pugilist/specialist, and great to see he is resuming what should be a hall of fame career !
