Floyd to Manny: “We Have To Make This Fight Happen”

floyd-mayweather,-manny-pacquiao

Some of you doubt that Floyd Mayweather really, truly, completely, wants to get in the ring with Manny Pacquiao. He fears a loss, he doesn’t want to give even a morsel of pie to ex promoter Bob Arum, he’s waiting till his current Showtime deal runs out so he can sign a new contract, with some entity, with a Pacman bout as part of his “what he brings to the table” package…

All these theories have been offered as to why “Money” hasn’t done what it is in his power, in my mind to do, which is tell Al Haymon to get ‘er done, wrap this damned thing into a bow, and tell the boxing world they are getting what they want…

If you’re of the mind that the only impediment to making this fight is A-plus side Mayweathers’ issue or issues, then this clip likely won’t change your mind. But if you are on the fence, and think HBO is the stumbling block, or Bob Arum, not wanting to share power and open up how he deals with Manny to a wider world, then maybe this Vine video, shot or released by Floyd galpal Doralie “Bad Medina” Medina, will sway you.

In the minute excerpt from a fairly lengthy meeting the two boxers had after they both attended an NBA game pitting the Miami Heat against the Milwaukee Bucks, two weeks ago, Floyd tells Manny, “We have to make this fight happen.”

Now, having any takeaways from 12 seconds of footage is a dubious proposition, I think, but since all we on the sidelines are offered are snippets of the totality of the complex whirl of personalities and agendas and desires, we work with what we get…

Bingo.

-deepwater2 :

Why didn't Floyd's baby's mamma drama release the whole hour long conversation? Why did she sneak around and why did they release a 10 second clip instead of the whole thing? Floyd stuttering around and saying something isn't the whole story. This is propaganda and I doubt the fight gets made after watching this nonsense. Floyd said that but what you don't see is what he said after. Sad attempt. If Floyd wanted the fight he would hold a press conference and announce his intentions.just retire Floyd and go away. Boxing will be better off.

-amayseng :

Blah blah blah blah blah That is all I hear out of Floyd Mayweather's dumb mouth.. A 10 second clip edited out of a full conversation some say lasted one to two hours... Are you kidding me? This dummy posts a ten second clip with no context like he expects people to believe his BS. And what is worse is that there will be those who do. The fact Floyd posted this makes me believe more than ever he does NOT want the fight. Why the dramatics? What a disappointment FMJ is.

-stormcentre :

Wonder what Manny has to say about that suspicious camera angle? :)

-dino da vinci :

When they didn't interrupt the Super Bowl to make "THE" announcement I thought to myself, well, it won't be happening this May either. And I'm going to stick with that.

-stormcentre :

Lotta business to tie down - before the date before May whatever that is now - before they can start properly promoting it. And they all will want to promote it to ensure they all get a healthy return on their investment.

Floyd trick Pacquiao and his adviser of meeting them in Pac suite..they video the meeting, it is all scripted by floyd jr...so he can say to the fans that he truly want to fight Pacquiao

You sure? I hadn't thought of that angle. I just thought they had a camera hidden in Floyd's travelling muscle's bum bag to blow YouTube apart. But then, after all, Pacman (and Arum) were busted for claiming Floyd was holding up the fight by not signing the (non-exiting) contract. Or perhaps that allegation in itself was simply not true. Perhaps false is not true and true can't be relied upon anymore. Time to bunker down in the caravan, as the lawn is up past the foiled out windows; which are a must for privacy.

-RDXSports :

Desperately waiting for this fight but I don't think so that it will ever happen.

-michigan400 :

It's obvious both sides have a different perception of what's going on. It's like the old saying - " There are 3 sides to this story, Pac's side, Floyd's side and the truth" Manny and Arum think they have agreed on all points but are these old points of conflict or issues actually brought up by the Floyd side this time? Who knows and really at this point who cares. Obviously it doesn't matter. All Floyd really says in the media is "don't believe what you hear". But he makes no mention of what we should believe or what his side is. So how does that clear anything up?? IT DONT!! Instead,,, he tells us to download a new social media app so we can get the "truth" direct from him and make him some kickback money. Even though he will never say what's going on from his point of view. Just more of the same crap from the last 5 years. They have made zero progress.

@stormcenter.... what is floyd purpose of showing a video showing the world of boxing that he really is not the impediment of this mega fight but he is sincere in fighting Pacquiao. What other reason, please give me a logical reason why floyd video the secret meeting. All along he planned to meet Pacquiao at the game of Miami and cornered Pacquiao at his hotel suite video the meeting and edited the portion he wanted to show the public. Wow what a manipulator.

You got me Razorramon. Hadn't thought of that angle. Your razor is too sharp for me, and I can't fault the unique insight you have showed. Perhaps if I wasn't so wacked out I'd be less clueless. Usually I think of everything, spill it out and whilst others dissect it and clean up the mess, I run for the covers, and after pushing the cupboard over to cover the window, pull the sheets up and say goodbye to the world; only then the productive dreaming starts. But, as it is now, I'm on the 3rd day of my 4 day caravan-cooking stint. And I am not talking TV shows like celebrity chef or my kitchen rules - if you know what I mean. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Now to your question ""Please give me a logical reason why Floyd video the secret meeting"". Not sure whether you will appreciate it or not, but it seems to me that Floyd had one of his posse secretly video the meeting so he could counter/combat the rumors that Bob Arum and Manny Pacquaio are claimed to have authored (or taken part in by other means) in relation to Floyd allegedly not wanting the fight and also failing to sign the (non-existent) "contract". I think you may find that whilst Floyd wants the fight, he both may not want it just right now (or in May) and that he knows there is a lot of work to do to get it all sewn up. Additionally, I think you may also find that Arum and Pacquiao (like Floyd) are not incapable of a little skullduggery either. I often see new things - some are real and some I am not so sure of - but lately . . . . . when I watch Pacquaio's greatest hits . . . particularly when he rushes in . . . . .
->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCHD9CRMV54 I see hands down, chin high and generally a lot of mistakes that Floyd - a naturally bigger guy with speed, experience, much less wear/tear, composure, defence and some other attributes that Pacquaio hasn't seen yet - will make sure Manny is slapped for. It's only going to take a few well timed counter/lead right hands down the pipe for Pacquaio (or maybe some sweet left hook counters) to reset and start thinking he can't accomplish what he wants the way he usually wants; steamrollering in. Last night I dreamed that as Pacman paraded that right lead hand of his out as a distraction, Floyd, cleverly extended his left hand . . . this mad Pacquaio slightly hesitant to rush in with the left cross . . . Floyd then gently pulled down Manny's extended right (jabbing) hand and popped in a little Right cross wake up call; to let Manny know he's running with the big dawgs now. Unfortunately though, when I woke up, I can't remember how it all ended (although I am sure others, perhaps even you, may advise on that) so on that point I am still a little unclear. One thing I take from it all is . . don't sleep on Floyd. Aside from perhaps a few exceptions; he has hardly ever even looked like he is going to lose a fight in his whole career. He has a lot of subtle moves that can spook a guy, that many spectators don't really see and/or understand. Once Manny is in there with Floyd he will know that he's running with the big dawgs now, and in that league guys have multiple moves, a few plans and are not usually fazed if you can do a few things really good. Anyway, welcome to the forum. Here's a tune a friend of mine put together . . . . chill on this . . .

@stormcentre..I appreciate your insight for the mega fight if it happens. I know you are leaning on floyd beating Pacquiao, for myself as a fan I just want to see the fight to happen so we can answer who is the best of this generation. Both has skill and heart to win a fight, both can control a fight, both can adjust as the fight goes on, and for the past ten years both are still on top, both been p4p king. I see Pacquiao has some flaws,he can be beaten or can be knock out. Floyd is perfect, no one has beaten him..now, the question is Why is this fight so big and it will shatter the all time revenue of any sport, million fans has been waiting for the fight to happen for the past 6 years Why? if floyd is the superior boxer and him being the big dawg as you have said. The boxing expert and the hardcore fans are also saying floyd will beat Pac,then why million of fans want to see this fight? Why? why? if you and floyd's fans think Manny has no chance in winning then again the question why make this fight? and again why million of fans want this fight?....maybe they have doubt that TBE is just an illusion to people who are delusion. That's why the TBE is also asking the question why so much demand for this fight? Now the TBE also having doubts, that's why the fight doesn't happen until now and it might never happen.

-stormcentre :

Hey, don't get me wrong, I like Pacquaio. He's taken almost all of them on and been a multi-champion for many years. In some ways his record as a boxer/fighter is as good as - if not better than - Floyd's, and that right there may be the answer to your "why" question(s) within your post. If Pacman can put the heat on Floyd and make him feel it and fight for 3 minutes of every round; then Floyd will know he's in there running with the big dawgs too. But that shoulder roll, slip n slide, defence of Floyd's is (particularly with orthodox fighters like Pacquaio isn't) is something else and so many different things. It can make overly aggressive guys look like that aggression is not really, truly, "effective". And when that happens guys can lose the value (on the scorecards) they may usually enjoy of simply being aggressive in a fight. And that can change the points game all together - just as much as it alters their strategy and makes them panic and/or feel urgent. Of course, none of that matters if Pacquaio's southpaw approach diffuses Floyd's defence to some extent and makes him vulnerable to Pacquaio's high work-rate, so he can blast through Floyd. If that happens ""maybe those, who are delusion, that have doubt that TBE is just an illusion"", will get to say; ""told you so"". I'm just trying to think of the last time Pacman fought someone that matched his speed, could make him pay, and had (at least) as good timing as him. Right now I like how well Floyd is holding himself together under all the legal and other pressures in his life. Sure he's rich and not worried about where his next lay and meal comes from. But the guy don't make too many silly mistakes in the ring, and he comes prepared. Also, don't know whether it's Manny's natural disposition or not and therefore misleading to gauge, but he didn't look too confident and much like the Apex predator between him and Floyd when both were in close quarters. So, what's next razorramon? You happy with what I have written above, or do you want to point out a few things on my part? It's OK if you do. Shoot away.

Before we go breaking down every aspect of the fight, or at least, before
I do, I'd like the fight to get made. Signed, sealed, delivered to us. Then I'll analyze it. Right now, I'm too busy analyzing Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson, Adrien Broner v John Molina, Keith Thurman v Robert Guerrero and GGG v Martin Murray--four very REAL fights--to get too carried away on a fight where verbal punches are as close as we are getting to seeing Manny v Money. Sign the contract, already. Both of you!

Commish; don't you think the Pacquaio V Mayweather negotiations are real? There's no doubt in my mind that they are. Even if they're not - can't we (please) treat it as a fantasy match-up? ;)

Congrats on hitting 2,000 posts. That is more hitting than Lil'Floyd will do. He is wuzzy! And doesn't really want that fight. Holla!

-stormcentre :

Perhaps Floyd; a) Wants the fight. b) Isn't fussed if it really doesn't happen so long as people know it didn't happen due to him. c) Knows that to make the fight happen in May will require a Herculean effort. d) Has no power over how quick the, legal, HBO, and some other promotional aspects of the "fight-deal" work; meaning he can't really make it happen if he wants to. Just a few thoughts. :)
