Chris Algieri Responds To Roach “Tough Kid” Comment

Chris Algieri got a kick out of the HBO 24/7, which ran Saturday night late-late, and told TSS his only regret is that more eps aren't running.

Oh wait, there's another; the show told viewers that his bed was unmade, and that one stung.

“I thought it was great,” the Huntington Heartthob told me. “I wish we had more episodes. A lot was jammed into one episode. My dog's cameo was a nice surprise. Wish I had made my bed, too,” he lamented.

Oh, that not making my bed were the most most glaring misstep of these moments in time… “Yeah, the one day I don't make my bed,” he growled.

I told him I did get a better sense of the pace and ferocity of his workouts. Boderline maniacal, I termed 'em. “Maniacal is probably the right word,” he said, chuckling.

The Long Islander didn't want to pick up a mad patty and fire back at Coach Roach, who termed him a “tough kid” but said, “Tough kids don't win big fights.”

I offered the Long Islander the chance to return fire…

“I don't think anything needs to be said about that comment,” the pugilist-specialist stated, mixing in a response to Roach calling him a runner. “Last I checked, I am currently an undefeated world champion in boxing, not track.”

Does he think Freddie wants to draw him into some mind war-games? “Yeah, I'm not that guy that mind games will work on,” he said.

Oh, and lastly, what did Algieri think of the Sergey Kovalev master class on the premier professor of this and a few eras of the sweet science, Bernard Hopkins?

“I did watch. Hopkins is a slippery old vet, but Kovalev was too big, too strong, too sharp.”

And, I was curious, did he think that fight would unfold in the way it did? Because I didn't see anyone saying that Hopkins would have just about zero successful moments over the course of 12 rounds…

“I predicted Hopkins to win, until I saw them in the ring together,” Algieri said. “I saw youth, size and hunger in the younger man.”

Hmmm..those things ring any bells on what Algieri backers believe THEY will be seeing on Nov. 22?

Well if he can't make his bed when HBO is coming over how is he going to deal with the Manila ice. Watching coach lane mimic The fighter of the decade while wearing his Mauy Thai get up , I think this kid will be in over his head. I didn't know Chris got over on PAC in some hoops, now I know PAC has a chip on his shoulder and will finish the job. All in all it's nice to see both guys acting with dignity and class. Acting like gentleman is good for the sport. No fake weed, no abortion pictures,no fights till the death is a plus for everyone. When it's all said and done maybe CA can fight the machine or Garcia if tsAH approves the fight.

C-Al is an arch master at responding to rhetoric and trying to convince ev'ybodee and dey momma dat he's a Pugilistic Coming of Jesus. OMG! Next he will be telling anybody who will listen that he boxes on water without getting his size 13 shoes wet, so against him don't bet. Holla at what this size 13 said about C-Al's ?o?ksureness:
->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFqUMBZ93uA Dude is already freaking out. He is fronting calm. And on fight morning, he will freeze like a deer that trapped in oncoming headlights on the highway.

Fighting at the top of the game is nothing like C-Al has ever been in. This dude is going to get hurt. He has confidence mixed up with ?ocksureness. Elite boxing is the wrong place for that tude. Even before the bout starts, he's going to be one mentally-drained-and-whipped dude. And the game is about 85 percent mental. All of C-Al's mental energy is leaking out. He ain't gonna have any left for the bout. But that is what you get when so much syet you spout. C-Al just cannot shut the double fudge up. And even quit lying. He is not undefeated without an "*" in Kickboxing. He's one delusional cat.

Chris and his crew will be leaving for Macau on Wednesday. With Roach's mind games not working, Algieri is headed to Macau in great mental and physical shape. I wonder if Roach's mind games will backfire, being they are unable to put a dent in the strong-willed Algieri. Macau, here comes Chris Algieri. I know it's way to early, but do you think the rematch, as Manny Pacquiao will seek redemption for his upcoming loss, will also take place in Macau? -Randy G.
