What Counts Boxing has been called “the sweet science of bruising,” “the noble art,” “the gentlemanly art of self-defense,” plus a host of other anomalies, and for good reason: a scientific, methodical, surgically precise breakdown of an opponent, to hit without being hit, is the ultimate objective of the sport. But sometimes someone is too talented, too good for their own good (P4P candidate Floyd Mayweather Jr.), and as a result their fights are often dull, boring, anti-climactic, one-sided affairs, less a contest of will than an exhibition of skill. On the flip side we have warriors with amazing fistic gifts who seem hardwired to mix it up (P4P candidate Manny Pacquiao), which makes for thrilling fights, exciting encounters, no matter who and where they’re fighting. If you had to choose between watching Floyd Mayweather strut his stuff or Manny Pacquiao fight his fight, who would you rather see perform his magic in the ring? |

Witter A Slapper, A Flapper (A Career In The Crapper?)
"Another upset! I keep making the right bet. I never thought for a moment that Witter was a good boxer or a hitter. He is just another slapper and a big-mouth flapper. In the hurt business, no word can hit you like a fist. He got knocked on his butt, and his words didn't cushion his fall. Hopefully, he will now shut up. More of today's boxers should learn the art of hurting, and cut out all this garbage of hyping. All the sightings of "Big Foot" and "UFOs" have been delusions, but these sightings of upsets in 2008 boxing are hard realities." ---TSS reader Radam is lovin' the upsets
