Vitali Klitschko To Fight Euro Champ Albert Sosnowski

Vitali Klitschko to face European Champion Albert Sosnowski in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on May 29

WBC World Heavyweight Champion Vitali Klitschko defends his title against European Champion Albert Sosnowski from Poland at Veltins-Arena Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on May 29. The arena is the home field of the famous soccer club Schalke 04.

Vitali Klitschko said, "I am very happy to have my next fight in Germany again. The arena in Gelsenkirchen and the fans there are very special. I experienced that last year when my brother Wladimir had his fight there in front of 61,000 spectators. The atmosphere was simply electrifying. I saw Sosnowski’s fights on DVD and must admit that he is a very experienced, quick and tough opponent. He will do anything to get my belt but I promise that this is not going to happen.”

31-year-old Albert Sosnowski, who was born in Warsaw (Poland), lives in Brentwood, England. The Dragon“ Sosnowski turned professional in 1998 and since then the 6'2½'' fighter has a fight record of 45 wins (27 KOs), two defeats and one draw.

Last December, Sosnowski won the European Heavyweight Championship against former champion Paolo Vidoz from Italy. In 2008 he knocked out former world title challenger and Tyson conqueror Danny Williams. Sosnowski was scheduled to defend his European title against Olympic champion Audley Harrison in London on April, 9, but cancelled it for the chance to fight Vitali Klitschko instead.

Albert Sosnowski said, "A dream comes true. Because of the Harrison fight I am already in training and suddenly comes the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight Klitschko. I want to thank him and his team to give me that opportunity which I will definitely take. For me, Klitschko is already over the hill. I know that I am the underdog for everybody, but I tell you, Klitschko will regret that he picked me. Many Polish and Germans with Polish roots live in the Gelsenkirchen area and I hope that they will support me. I will be the first Polish Heavyweight Champion of the World!“

It is Klitschko’s 12th World Championship fight. His impressive record is 39 wins (37 KOs) and two defeats due to injury.

In Germany, the fight between World Champion Vitali Klitschko and European Champion Albert Sosnowski will be broadcasted live and exclusively on RTL.

Albert WHO??:  Sosnowski turned professional in 1998 and has record of 45-2-1 and I've never heard of him. 12 years as a pro, never heard of him.

Teacher:  This is why I like the Klitschkos, they fight everybody. I like this idea of the U.S. champ battling against title holders from other countries. Staying busy is key and more boxers need to take smaller fights to keep sharp.

Jay Jay:  This guy lost a decision to Zuri Lawrence in 2008, what is Vatli thinking ?

Robert Curtis:  Why am I not surprised that TSS could not find a picture of Albert Sosnowski?

t dogg :  WOW who is this guy ..i`d rather him fight james toney than this guy ..this looks like an early night 4 vitali..this guy we never even heard of...the toney fight dont look 2 bad now...compared 2 this guy ...lol but hey its a fight...right..guess they keepin over on their side of town ..that generates tha most revenue 4 them...im not mad @ that ..but this is just another no-name 2 pad his record wit..he lost 2 zuri lawrence...WOW

s:  Ha, ha, ha, ha! Teacher, you are no doubt a wonderful teacher of comedy. Even Emanuel Steward told the Klitschkos to not fight James Toney. They are worst set of boxing heavyweight sibling in the history of boxing. Buddy Baer and Max Baer would have murdered the bums. Even Floyd Patterson and Ray Patterson would have beat them. Muhammad Ali and Rahaman Ali would have beat them. Michael Spinks and Leon Spinks would have punked them...

Timothy:  One might think he could have managed to make a fight with one of these guys: David Tua Odlanier Solis Tomasz Adamek James Toney (he would choose Boxing over MMA any day) Shannon Briggs (heard he's coming back) and so on and so forth The worst thing is, the vast majority of those that watch boxing don't know boxing, and they will gorify Vitali for beating somebody as, as a die hard boxing fan for over a decade, have never heard of before today.

Isaiah:  Hey, I'm not complaining. This is a decent opponent. The guy has a good record and will put up some resistance against Vitali plus he is the European champion, right? The other guys I see recently mentioned are a bunch of has beens and never was's. Tomaz Adamek has a fight lined up already. I don't know what David Tua is doing, but we need to see Vitali against someone who is taller, has a longer reach this time unlike Chris Arreola and will come to fight unlike Kevin Johnson. The other opponents laying around aren't worth a hill of beans. Vitali is taking out everybody. There's no one left to fight! David Haye is busy. Vitali will never fight his brother! James Toney or Valuev? Please! Who has a right to complain against Vitali?! There is simply no worthy challengers!

pac in 9:  i saw Sosnowski fight in ny he was in with an out of shape club fighter and it took him a few rounds to get rid of him, he is not impressive at all and an easy nights work for vitali, unless vatali grows verrrrry old over night this fight wont see the 6th round, i wont hate cause he is staying busy and the division is very weak outside of the klichkos, aerollla who he already beat, chambers who brother vlad fights next week and mayb a david haye who wants no part of these guys so vitali is doing the right thing and staying busy in front of a huge crowd of 50, or 60 thousand, if we think the hw division sucks now what happens when the klich bros go away? i amagine like lennox lewis before them people will start to really miss the k bros, remember lewis was very under appratiated as well but now people look back and realize he trully was a great heavyweight if not the most exciting and he was always willing to fight any1, vlad and vitali have shown more there whole careers and vitali will fight just 1 or 2 more times after this 1 so thank god the lower weights are full of great fighters willing to get it on w each other cause once these 2 heavyweights are gone were gonna have john ruiz and shannan briggs wrestling for the title

Ray:  Like the majority of thise who have posted comments so far, I had never heard of Sosnowski until I read this article. Since his record (of all opponents) hasn`t been included in the article, it is difficult to assess Sosnowski`s career performance. Sosnowski`s opponents which are mentioned certainly do not give me any confidence that Sosnowski will be competitive against Vitali. This will be another boring Klitschko mismatch, which Vitali will win by knockout by round 5. Ray
