RINGSIDE VIEW: JuanMa, Gamboa, Duddy Get It Done At MSG Jr.
By George Kimball
NEW YORK --- If Juan Manuel Lopez felt any pressure to perform moments after Yuriorkis Gamboa had blown out Rogers Mtagwa, against who JuanMa had struggled mightily three months earlier, it was not reflected in his methodical domination of Steven Luevano. Round by round, Lopez simply broke down the WBO featherweight champion on his way to a seventh-round TKO to acquire his second world title and set up a likely collision of the two 126-pound titleists.
If greasing the skids for a Lopez-Gamboa bout later this year was the point of Saturday night's exercise at Madison Square Garden's WaMu Theatre, that plan certainly wasn't disturbed by anything that occurred in the ring Saturday night. Lopez and Gamboa both dominated their respective -- and disparate -- opponents.
Anyone who expected Luevano to go quietly would have been mistaken, but the champion, now 37-2-1, isn't quite quick enough to box with Lopez, and lacks the punch that might discourage a foe from marching straight ahead to tenderize his face with combinations the way Lopez did throughout this one. Even when Luevano was able to land a one-two of his own -- and it happened from time to time -- it barely got Lopez' attention. Luevano's face became redder and redder with each succeeding round, and you could almost sense his resistance sapping as the bout wore on.
Early in the seventh, Lopez caught Luevano with a right uppercut that sent him reeling backward toward the corner, where a left, a right, and another left to him on the floor. Although all three punches landed, it was the middle one, described by Luevano as a right hook, that did the damage.
"I'd been blocking that punch all night, but then he got one through and look what happened," said Luevano afterward. Although he had made the count and indicated his willingness to continue, Luevano was taken into custody by referee Benji Estevez 44 seconds into the seventh.
Lopez, now 28-0, said that his goal all along has been to win titles at four different weights, and Saturday's win puts him halfway there. As for Gamboa's showing against Mtagwa, JuanMa shrugged and said, through an interpreter, "It doesn't matter what he did. What happened with Mtagwa is going to happen because of styles."
Which pretty much echoed the opinion Gamboa had expressed earlier. Asked whether their respective performances against Mtawga should make him the favorite in a prospective fight with Lopez, Gamboa seemed to feel that as yardsticks go, this one was pretty meaningless, the boxing equivalent of comparing apples and oranges.
"Different boxers, different styles, different weights," said Gamboa.
Mtagwa, whose surprising performance against Lopez last October landed him in his second straight title fight, was simply overwhelmed in his bout against the WBA champion.
At 122 1/2, Mtagwa was the lightest challenger for this title in 27 years -- since Rocky Lockridge (also 122 1/2) went up against Eusebio Pedroza (also 126) in San Remo, Italy in 1983, and the Cuban champion appeared to regard him with utter disdain, ignoring Mtagwa''s early attempts to land his jab while swatting him almost at will. Mtagwa landed just one of 22 jabs, Gamboa one of 20, but the difference was that Mtagwa didn't land much of anything else, either, while Gamboa connected with almost everything else he threw.
Mtagwa's handlers said later that the plan had been to just survive the first three rounds in much the manner he had survived the first six against Lopez -- the difference being that this time he got caught and clocked and the game plan went out the window. Gamboa had floored Mtagwa near the end of he first round with a sweeping left.
Mtagwa withstood that one, but then in the second a right-left-right combo sent him toppling over again, and when he got up this time his legs seemed distinctly shaky. Gamboa then walked him across the ring to Mtagwa's own corner, where he landed a left and then appeared place his right glove atop the Tanzanian's head and push him straight down. It was a tactic that in other circumstances might have elicited a warning, but in this case Steve Smoger seemed to feel it offered a pretty good excuse to stop the one-sided fight, and when he did, it didn't exactly set off howls of protest from either the crowd or the Mtagwa corner, since at that point everybody had seen quite enough.
The win advanced Gamboa's record to 17-0. Mtagwa is now 25-14-2. His next bout probably won't be for a title.
In the early stages of his pro career, John Duddy registered so many first-round knockouts -- seven in his first nine pro fights ---that a man could have been forgiven for believing that "KO1" was the Irish middleweight's middle name. His knockout of hapless Juan Astorga, a Mexican-born Kansas City resident, in the principal supporting act underneath the featherweight title doubleheader, marked the first time in nearly four years (Shelby Pudwill on St. Patricks Eve of 2006) that Duddy put away an opponent before a round-card girl could make an appearance.
That Duddy, who came into this one not having stopped an opponent in his last six fights, dispatched Astorga at 1:55 of the opening stanza may have less signaled an abrupt return of his punching power than it had to do with the abilities -- and the stones -- of his opponent. Astorga seemed apprehensive coming into the ring, and from the moment the bell rung appeared to be looking around for a soft place to land.
So anxious was Astorga, in fact, that a minute into the fight he sunk to his knees and took an eight-count from Wayne Kelly -- apparently without being touched. (Trainer Harry Keith said that Asturias' first trip to the canvas was a delayed reaction to a glancing blow to the temple. Looked more like one of those anchor punches to us.)
Not much later Duddy trapped Astorga in a corner, where he hurt him with a left-handed body shot. Duddy followed that one up with a right, which missed, and a left uppercut, which did not. Astorga crumpled to the canvas and probably wasn't going to get up anyway, but by the time the count reached four Kelly had wrapped him in a protective embrace and was struggling to pull his mouthpiece out. His record is now 14-4-1.
Duddy (28-1), told the crowd afterward that "the old John Duddy is back.
"I hope yez got a good taste of that tonight, because there's gong to be more of that to come this year," he promised.
The Irishman, who hopes to maintain a contending position that would put him in a title bout later this year, is scheduled to next perform at Cowboys Stadium on the March 13 Pacquiao-Clotted undercard, but don't expect to see him against a top middleweight. Duddy's advisor, Craig Hamilton, said that Duddy's next opponent would be, well, somebody a lot like Juan Astorga. (In fairness, Hamilton said this three days earlier, before he had actually seen Astorga "fight.")
Duddy could hardly have been pleased to learn earlier in the day that Billy Lyell, whose own trainer described him as "a B fighter" when he upset the Irishman in Newark last year, had slipped into the challenger's role in an IBF title fight next Saturday in Germany. (Champion Sebastian Sylvester had been scheduled to defend against Pablo Navascues, but when the Spaniard failed a doping test Sylvester's promoters were left scrambling. (Since the first American offered the fight, Philadelphian Derek Ennis, tried to improve the $50,000 offer and never heard back from the Germans, it can probably be reasonably inferred that that's exactly what Lyell is getting -- which is not to suggest that it isn't a wise move on his part.
Jorge Diaz, the undefeated (10-0) featherweight from Jersey City, made short work of Tommy Atencio, who traveled all the way from Denver for a fight that lasted less than a minute and a half. Diaz floored Atencio with a straight right and, and although he was able to bounce right back up from that one, the instant referee Kelly turned him loose, Diaz unleashed a left to the body that looked as if it had sawed the opponent in half. Atencio (4-4) was counted out at 1:27 of the first.
The opponents in the other early undercard bout were apparently grown from a hardier strain than Atencio, as five imported victims managed to last until the final bell in their bouts against local favorites. Or perhaps matchmaker Brad Goodman was just looking to get the opponents some rounds.
One of them, South Carolina junior welter James Hope, appeared to have Long Islander Chris Algieri in some serious trouble at least a couple of times in their six-rounder, and probably deserved better than Waleska Roldan's 59-55 mark. Billy Costello and John McKaie had it a closer at 58-56, but the result was still unanimous in the hometowner's favor. Algieri improved to 10-0, while Hope fell to 4-3.
Polish-born New Jersey welterweight Pawel Wolak didn't exactly struggle in his bot against his Baltimore opponent Ishmael Arvin, but probably didn't frighten away prospective future opponents with an essentially lacklustre performance. Wolak (now 26-1) carried the issue 80-72 on Costello's card, 79-73 on those of McKaie and Alan Rubenstein. Arvin is now 15-2-4.
Brooklyn light-heavyweight Will Rosinsky (10-0) unanimously outpointed Kansas City's Markas Gonzalez (7-3), with Costello scoring the one-sided bout 40-35, McKaie and Rubenstein 40-36.
Long Island welterweight Tommy Rainone upped his pro mark to 12-3, pounding out a unanimous decision over Gerardo Prieto (6-8) of Provo, Utah in their four-round prelim. Rubenstein had it a shutout at 40-35, while Roldan and McKaie 39-31.
Size mattered in the curtain-raiser, in which Philadelphia cruiserweight Garret Wilson (7-3) was giving away just three pounds but dwarfed by nine inches in height, couldn't win a round in his bout against undefeated 6' 6" Puerto Rican Carlos Negron (7-0). All three judges (McKaie, Roldan, Rubenstein) scored it 60-54.

Gamboa did look great and his speed could give anyone a hard time but Juanma is a heavy handed dude. I just can't see him running up to Juanma without respecting his power. That was the number 1 fight on my 2010 wish list cause the are some hungry men that can give a helluva show. Better than any Welterweight bout

Juanma Lopez should be very careful. He just moved up in weight & TKO'd his much bigger opponent !!!
Jeff Mayweather & his ilk will see this as undeniable proof that Lopez (future Caballero matchup) is on PED's !!!

Gamboa is special fighter im telling you right now.....Juanma and him would be a great fight but Gamboa is much better and time will prove it...He's a future superstar in the sport of boxing he reminds me of Shane Mosley mixed with Naseem Hamed that's a cold combination that's going to be hard to beat.

Excellent piece of journalism, Mr Kimball. Accurately and fairly reported without judgement. As were the comments and analysis of both Juanma and Gamboa. Different style, different fighters, different weight classes. That said, Gamboa is a dynamo with Pacquiao quickness and Roy Jones Jr hand speed and explosive power. To me, he is the fighter to watch. But like Juanma, both are still not fully developed. Both have flaws that they are admittedly working on; flaws which can and have been exploited. Both have incredible confidence. In Gamboa's case, his willingness to push the fight early has to continue to be balanced by the discipline not to get careless. Juanma, with a built-in PR fanbase ....Tito and Miguel publicly behind him....needs to stay humble. Stars can be made overnight but not maintained by others. Their shine is dependent on the gravity of their core. In Juanma's case, he needs to protect his better. (The look on Arum's face early was one of, if not concern, then at least cautious optimism . He still gets hit early (by right hands) and fairly often and can still get wide during exchanges. But with their respective power and skills, who can't want to see a fight between these two? Now if I were to forced to predict tomorrow, I would have to pick Gamboa. Speed kils...and his is deadly.

I'm for Gamboa. He looked more impressive, and he has speed, boxing skills, power.. and tight defense... he never got hit by the wild swinging Tanzanian. I think Juanma's lack of jabbing, his inability to fight on his back foot, his not knowing when to hold and box and move, and other things will come into play in the super fight. So what Juanma beat Lontchi and Luevano who are both feather fists. Gamboa punches harder and faster than Mtagwa. I have Gamboa by rds. 8-11 TKO. Holler!

Been watching Gamboa since the beginning. Damned impressive. I predicted Mtagwa wouldn't get past three - tough as nails, but a sitting duck for a fast-handed, accurate puncher. But, remember the name Meldrick Taylor? Gamboa is similar in many ways - technical, temperament, even physique. Fast double barrel, accurate, loves to throw - and boy, is he easy to hit. Easier than Meldrick was. Both made their opponents pay too high a price for it to (usually) matter. But Mtagwa landed a high percentage of the swinging bombs he threw at Gamboa. And this is a tendency Gamboa has shown since the beginning. He's more settled in his stance and picks his shots better than before, but that neon sign saying "hit me please" is gonna cost him. Chances are, he beats a steady, strong, but too inflexible JuanMa - and gives us a few epics after that. But some future Chavez will push him to show whether he can really fight and survive, and maybe, just maybe, slip a punch or two.

LMAO! I knew Don-MisterLee was going to happen sooner or later. Another historic rivalry in the making. I like Lopez but I just don't see him keeping up with Gamboa. Gamboa has fast hands and descent power. The question will be, is Gamboa's power really that impressive or does it have a lot to do with his opponents who are low-level competition? Lopezs' power is proof but he gets caught up in exchanges. This would be a classic match-up if it happens. This would be like MisterLee's volume-speed-punching up against Don's bullish-hard-hitting boxer puncher.

GAMBOA SAID IT PERFECTLY --- "Different boxers, different styles, different weights," ---- FACTS ARE: Juanma was complaining about the weight for the last two fights before fighting Mtagwa. So no food - no energy - no top performance. Mtagwa for this fight weighted 122.5pds while Gamboa was 126. Now you have to ask Floyd Scareweather if 3 or 4 pounds more helps or not to render a better performance. Gamboa did show better movements and you can tell he studied Mtagwa by the book. Truly amazing. NOW...... you have to agree that Lopez showed maturity, control and security and those are tools Gamboa may lack as shown in past fights. So... final analysis is.... Gamboa's hunger and speed will clash against the maturity and a more controlled Juanma. Combine that with their knockout power and that definitely makes for a great fight!!!! Choosing a winner, I'm staying with my countryman. Not because he is Boricua but for his ring experience (10 more fights than Gamboa) and knockout power. Also, Gamboa's chin is the more questionable of the two. Go 3 fights back (youtube) on each one of them and you will know what I mean. Remember the weight factor against Mtagwa and compare that to Gerry Penalosa's fight. Penalosa caught Juanma with punches all night long and Juanma showed a great chin. The one I don't think Gamboa has. So I will predict Juanma KO Gamboa in the later rounds!!!! One more thing. BIG TIME PROPS TO STEVE LUEVANO. I was impress by his style and the way he managed Juanma's aggressiveness and finally his sportsmanship raising Juanma's hand at the end of the fight. I mean, he is truly someone I will like to watch fighting again.

Wow... sounds good... two new yorkers I owned on andre ward issues: 1.) Deepwater: you never named a single fight in andre ward's last five fights in which he stunk it. You only keep referring to his fifth pro fight, and you ate some crow for kessler. 2.) Don, you keep repeating yourself b/c all you have is the same tag lines: "I don't care what ya'll think, i'm the man, i'll rock you silly, yada yada". If you were a man, you'd keep your word (scareweather). If you were a boxing fan, you'd realize, ward who rightfuly is the number one ranked supermiddleweight (I guess he's a shotime fighter, not a HBO fighter, therefore putting Bute on Ring's #1 b/c he's an hbo fighter who beat a great andrade), who outclassed his last 4 opponents in 2009, and who completely undid the favorite in super six (wait, are you even reading this? Did i lose you @ the Don? I do think pple's attention spans are getting thinner by the day, must be technology, tho I'msure don can read a bunch of those Jail sentences pretty well..). If you were a tru boxing fan and an objective one, you'd see all the good things Andre Ward brought (switching stances, jabbing to the solar plexus, slipping on the ropes, the straight left to the body, the lead left hook, the lateral movement, the counters, the punches on the breaks, how he smother's kessler's punches, the body work... oh yeah, you don't like boxing, you just like loud personalities and profanity, my bad ANDRE WARD IS DA MAN HE"LL KNOCK YA'LL OUT). Is that better? As far is seeing me in Broolyn, you're all talk. Whateva, besides, again, i don't dislike you. However, you are another to my resume: I KO'd teacher, deep water, krumped out, Salt Rubber, and now Donputa68. Hahah... have a good one... and fellows, I'm not like Donputa, I actually give compubox numbers, punch zone numbers, compare my score to Harold Lederman scorecards, debate ring generalship, the Don is just like a record player : "Meet ya'll at 25 and R st. fools! I'll knock you out and steal your girl!" Whateva, all the bums are gathering around the Don b/c he's their alpha male, their older frat brother, hiding behind their mother's leg. yo Don, i'll drop the case if you'll just say: ANDRE WARD IS MY FATHER. Pc! Tss rules!

and for the record, i specifically stated : If floyd signs with mosley I'll be miss lee for a month. I KEPT MY WORD. Well fighthype says the fight MIGHT be on May 1, 2010, which is why I changed my screen name, but since floyd hsn't officially signed , i changed it back. El maromero said if floyd escapes 2010 without a top 5 welter he'll chnage his to la maromera. Real men keep their word. Real men of genius. Holler!

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOUR FIGHT GETS TO THE TWELVE ROUND... LOL!!!!!! You two talk like junior high school kids who can dance like roosters ready to go but are as dangerous as an 90 years old lady beating a fly. (I don't know if I translated that right, hehehehe). So quit the "I'll beat you down anyday" argument. We here act like gentlemen. Fans of the sport. Proud people. Please be cool on each other. Doesn't mean "to love each other" but at least try to stay cool... like Radam and me!!!... we are peaches and cream now!!!.. right Radam??? hahaha (just a joke). One thing Mr. Lee... I follow no "alpha male" ... I always lead my own way. I'm the person to be around when 2012 comes...... PEACE...... : )

Nah... we cool... his last comment diffuse the whole situation with his humor, and i admitted I was having a bad week, perhaps picking one too many fights. Honestly, I have no problem fighting anyone, but I really don't dislike the Don, so i don't see reason to fight him. You are your own person Anony, but deepwater be hiding behind his mommy's leg fo' sure! Holler!

It's a shame. I'd pay to see a fight between 2 of TSS's best. Donputo69 and MisterLee throwing down is where it's at. Everyone with a brain stem knows how I made my huge impact in embarrasing a certain coward in here. I remeber Smiley C acting like I didn't because he's a blind sack swinger, but it's okay. Keep on swinging. I love the racism that one fool spits out and he trys to defend it pathetically, but I get chastised for using the term, "Gayweather". Who's got something to say about me on this?! In advance, FORGET YOU!

NOW WE HAVE THE MAKES OF A GREAT EVENT!!!!... Main event::: Donputo69 vs. Mr. Lee.... In the undercard::: Isaiah vs. Smiley C!!!! and non-televised could be Alex Ariza vs. Michael Koncz!!!!! The name of show????? "STREET BRAWLERS FEST - A tribute to the fans"!!!! Let me grab the phone and call "Bob" to take care of those little details like venue, promotions, sponsors, boxing commisions, doctors, paramedics, referees, ring announcer, insurances and BOXING FEES for all these promising new stars. I'm betting on donputo69 not because he is Boricua but the last count of pushups he made was more than a 100 and I don't really know if Mr. Lee is in shape.. so business is business and I'm putting my money on the Don!!!! Still I know Mr. Lee have bunches of tricks under his gloves and will give donputo a hard time. So what's up guys!!!???? make your bets!!!!!!!! I vote for EM to referee.... he has some experience already refereeing for us. hehehehe.

If fighting equated a push up quantity contest, then I'm sure US gymnast Paul Hamm would win. I ain't afraid of the Don, but I ain't wanna fight him b/c i don't have any ill will towards him. I challenged Krumped out to a fight in DC, that punk pc'ed out like woah! DP 69 never downed me! Don puta is like his other PR heroes, after Cotto or Juanma gives their best shot and sees their opponent still moving forward, they backpedal like some B**Tches. Just ask mtagwa and margarito/mosley/pacquiao! Maybe that's why puta likes them so much! And puta is a like a record player, one dimensional and saying the same SH**T over and oveer again! Ya'll mean, i'll beat ya up! Ya'll fool, i'll bust you up PUS*&(&&Y ... i'mthe man, you'r e not the man, i'm the man...not my fault the dude only has his GED, and some street knowledge. Not my fault he ain't a man of his word, just ask all the baby mama's and kids he left in his jail sentence. And for the record, i never cloned anyone, but i guess puta's source was eastar, who thought me, radam, and #1 pacsage were all the same person, but what you expect from a GED candidate, just a bunch of trash talk and repetitive non-sense (for the record, puta, repetitive means repeating over and over, use a dictionary for' sure!) Both fighters threw lots of jabs and we saw very good straight punches there... but still they're warming.... let's see what happens in the second round. Now let's see if Issaiah and Smiley C have something to show... last I read Smiley threw a big uppercut that hasn't been respond. Dp69-MisterLee is an interesting match-up. If the fight took place in the alley I would put money on Don but if the fight took place in the Octogan I'd pick MisterLee. So they've to meet at the squared jungle to make it an even fight. It's a pick'em fight! In the alley, Don would use his rough gangsta style tactics. He will put his shirt over his head to blind him taking him apart and throwing the trash can while on the ground. In the Octogan, MisterLee would use his up kick, roundhouse, and flying knee on the head. While on the ground Lee will submit into the rear naked choke. With both guys having little to no boxing experience in the ring both guys are even money at Manila for "Thrilla in Manila 3". Touch em up.

DP vs MrLee, I've tuning in everyday from my work and home cumputer, In Mr Lee you got the harvard educated, rocket scientist who has lost his cool vs the Don from Brooklyn who was educated in the hood. looks like the fight is going into the championship rounds, it's like cotto vs maragarito all over again anything can happen, looks like they have both taken the last couple of round off to finish strong, bets in vegas have them even. lets go Don and MrLee finish of strong. At the end we are all tss family, thats why EM has been a good referee, there has been no clinching and he is leaving them alone.

Haha... this is hilarious.. I'm not even cut, bruised, staggered.. nothing... he's just like any other one of his heroes these days, only have one sunday punch, and if they take it, they back up and run like lil' girls (tho Laila Carter might have something to say for that). It's unbelieable, I knocked this donputa guy out days ago, and he behavin' like Zab Judah after he got clocked out by Tzyu. Doing the chicken dance, and strong arming the referee for stopping the fight (beware Anony!). Here's a direct quote: "lmfao....i said im not gonna waste my time with a dp69 wanna be...this guy is a chump....i dont waste my time with chump mother_____" Hahaha... kounted out and salt lover said the same thing to me before they never engaged with me again. Puta only goes on b/c the pple are behind him and he feels suddenly inspired. In all honesty, he writes like a 6th grader, and behaves like a high school bully. That's all he has. I pointed out: 1.) His jail sentence (3-5 months) 2.) His baby mamas and lil' puta69's running around the alleys 3.) His bias as a boxing fan (ward is a bum! doesn't give ONE good reason using boxing knowledge why the thinks that way. Ward is Number 1 supermiddle in world) 4.) His lack of boxing knowledge and overt opinions on the forum 5.) His lack of education 6.) His lack of holding his word (pulling a scareweather, b/c only B**TCHES got no honor) 7.) Since I had taken all the bullets outta his chamber, the chump's only got bad words, action words, and empty threats to throw 8.) He calls my posts "nerdy" b/c truth, accurate boxing information (compubox, punch zone, comparison of multiple opponents) are not his concern, he thinks with his ego and likes or dislikes boxers based on his whim, and nothing to do with reality nor actuality. The guy is a dumb, simple-minded, dishonest, temperamental, and insecure brute. These are ALL the puta got as far as bullets in the chamber: 1.) Call bad word 2.) Call another bad word 3.) Repeat 4.) Name a street corner 5.) Start number 1 all over again. VERY intersting. Haha... anyway, I gots lots of personal business to take care of, but if there's interest, maybe later this year or early next year I can roll by NY. I can get a friend or two to bring a video camera and we can film this SH**T on youtube. That way, we'd probably never hear of his B**TCH*SS again, b/c cowards only speak with their mouths, not in reality, and as far as cowards go, breaking your word, and breaking the law is WAY easier than living an upright, and honest and truthful life. He's a coward on the inside, and like all bullies will fold once stood up to. I'm pretty much done. I'm not a harvard student, I' m a "C" student in English from the University of Maryland (which says a lot about puta since I'm made to look really smart). I'm not looking for an internet battle b/c as far as I'm concerned, I already got Judah end of round 1 or 2, and the rest is just a riot in the ring. He gonna keep repeating himself and saying the same SH**T when the discussion is over. You guys can score what you will, and if you guys are looking for more, that's it, unless you wanna travel to NY to see me school this amateur someday, honestly I shouldn't even have to bother with some guy dang near 40 with some prison background. He just gonna an overhand right, and then get clocked in the face, body, collar, hip, and groin and get taken down. I'd rather fight someone with an MMA pedigree, or some specialization so I can actually learn something from the fight. But yeah, ya'll can bring cameras, cell phones to record it someday, but I ain' t a hateful guy, I'd buy the guy a drink win or lose after the match, but the internet tough guy SH**T is all on his side. I say my piece, and thenI defend it. No more bad words, no more tough guy act. Ego, pretentiousness, bullies, MACHISMO are all fragile and fold under pressure. But hey, I"m not the one who curles into fetal position and cries every night, or has to get high and drunk to forget his own demons. That's that. We'll eventually meet in the recent future, pple can film me schoolin' your arse, i'll buy you a drink, and i'll brag about it on TSSU. Holler!

FIGHT IS OVER AND IT WENT THE DISTANCE... WE HAVE TO ADMIT BOTH FIGHTER DID A GREAT JOB!!!!.... and now we go to the scorecards.... (please nobody named Van Hoy allowed)... My original scorecard was 7 rounds to 5 Don Puto because he was busier finding creative ways to insult Mr. Lee BUT.... You have to give Mr. Lee two knockdowns in the final round because he came so strong SO... I'm calling it a draw..... sorry but I got to be fair!!!!! Very entertaining use of the vocabulary!!!! Now, Let me talk to "Bob" to see what he thinks about a rematch.. but you all know the old fox... he don't like rematches a lot. Let's see... hehehehe. HE'LL crumble like a pile of bricks. I been only using 15% of my brain, b/c I ain't in it fighitng, and he's giving his all. This is a mild intellectual exercise for me. Debating with Frank Z, mortcola, or the Saint or Swift is WAY harder b/c i have to pull off compubox numbers, analyze rounds etc. Over here I just have to deal with the same thing over and over again, blind agression in the hopes the other guy backs down. I got head movement and lateral movement. I only neutralized, b/c I got my emotions in tact. A person who fights with their emotions has no self control. Holler!

I tried to get Smiley C to sign the contract and agreed to every demand, but it was a no go. I'm usually a Lightheavy to Cruiser, but I still agreed to a 150 pound catchweight for his bony self. I agreed to random blood, urine and any kind of testing. I gave him 60% of the purse even though I'm the bigger draw because I do whatever I can to please the fans. I gave him his 10 oz gloves and a bigger ring, but like Scareweather, it wasn't good enough and he called off the fight, so I beat him down out in the alley Rocky 5 style. As he was laid out on the pavement and I was walking away, he ran up behind me and hit me upside the head with a crowbar. I saw the ghost of Joe Louis to tell me, "Get up and fight this bum hard!" Somehow, I was able to pull myself back up as the crowd chanted my name. Smiley C then shouted, " Floyd Mayweather Jr is greater than Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson because she's undefeated!" I felt a rage come over me like someone just told me they hate America or somthing like that. Last thing I remeber is me with bloody knuckles standing over Smiley C who was knocked the fudge out. Someone videotaped this and after reviewing the tape, they said, "Isaiah gave one of the biggest butt whoopins to this punk that anyone has ever seen." They said in comparision, "Ricky Hatton was robbed against Manny Pacquiao." HA! Afterwards Floyd Mayweather had to take ole Smiley to the emergency room where he'll be doing his typing rants for the rest of the year. True story.

Then that guy woke up! What an imagination! I'm going to make this guy invisable like some cats who I know are doing. He could not last two seconds with me. I'd dash up to him and KABANG! Down goes Isaiah! Down goes Isaiah! Down goes Isaiah! ...Five, six, seven, eight, nine, TEN!!! It is OVER, it is OVER! The very first PUNCH from a laughing Smiley C, and Isaiah has been Knocked the Fudge out fo' sure!

(IN THE VOICE OF JIM LANGLEY) "Well Lennox, I told you this TSS crowd is something else. Now the undercard shows up to fight and they are not bluffing around!!!! Obviously Isaiah took Smiley C by surprise there. We had verified the sources and both teams have agreed to continue the fight in the ring and now they are ready for round two... but... Max please give us your SHORT thoughts on these two fighters and what can we expect from them...Can Smiley C overcome the punishment received in that first round??? Will Isaiah continue to use his speed as his most fearful weapon????"

Aight guys, i'mgonna take a day or two off from the site. This is obviously going nowhere, whenever I'm gone Don comes in like a snake and says "where you at? I won! I KO'd you!" This his girl on the side deepwater cheers behind his mommy's leg! I offered my email, and extended an invite, if he scared to take it and wants to engage in internet tough guy posturing a la mayweather, it's fine, He has my email (cylee1180@yahoo), and unlike eastar, i'll show up and give him a beating of his life. But i'm a compassionate guy, I'll hold back the last blow and I'll buy him a drink. But should i take his word he'll come clean without a gang or a glock? He might need one. You guys can discuss what you can. In the end, i won the discussion, and if he wants a fight, i'll win that too. Holler!

Angie And Goody...23 Years Later
Twenty three years later after they seconded Marvin Hagler and Ray Leonard in Las Vegas, Goody Petronelli and Angelo Dundee crossed paths again. This time, it was at Foxwoods. Photo/friend of TSS "The Iceman" John Scully reports there were only pleasantries exchanged. Goody didn't debate the split decision victory enjoyed by Leonard, which to this day Hagler disputes.
