PACQUIAO VS. COTTO-WHO ARE YOU PICKING?

Athletes, Celebrities, Boxers and Writers Predict Who Will Win the

November 14 Showdown

LAS VEGAS (November 9, 2009) - BIG George Foreman leads the list of boxers, professional athletes, celebrities and the esteemed press core who all have opinions about the outcome of FIREPOWER: MANNY PACQUIAO and MIGUEL COTTO. The championship bout takes place on Saturday November 14 at MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

In just five days the pound-for-pound king Pacquiao and three-time world champion Cotto meet in the ring in one of the most talked about match-ups in recent boxing history. Some of the most well-known fighters, celebrities, athletes and writers are abuzz with talk of Saturday's evenly matched battle.

From Foreman to P. Diddy, Trump to Hopkins, below please find the predictions of these famous personalities as they answer the question "Pacquiao vs. Cotto-Who will win and why?"

THE BOXERS ARE PICKIN'...

"I think there would have been a good opportunity for Pacquiao to win if he faced Cotto before he fought Clottey, but now Cotto is thinking defense. I think Cotto is going to pull out a decision, and now because of the terrible beating he took against Margarito, he knows he can't get into a knockdown drag out brawl. He's going to be smarter, and I think Cotto wins in a 12 round decision.

"Pacquiao has been riding high and has beaten some of the best in the world. And it leaves you kind of complacent when you're winning. And even if you don't want it to, sometimes you can't get up for a big fight. And that's a plus for Cotto.

I think it's an excellent fight. But when you're riding high you think you're going to walk through your opponent. You get overconfident. People in your camp tell you you're going to win. And you have your spies in camp, telling you about the other guy. When I faced Ali, Frazier and Norton both had beaten Ali, and I had knocked them out pretty easily. So when I faced Ali, I had that confidence, and you think I surely can beat this guy. So I know the feeling, and I think that will happen to Pacquiao."

- George Foreman, Former Two-Time Heavyweight World Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, and Entrepreneur.

"I pick Manny Pacquiao by knockout.  I think he will knock him out in 7 or 8.  Manny just has too much for Cotto."

- Mike Tyson, Former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World

"Pacquiao is going to chop Cotto up. Out of respect, Cotto will get some rounds, but Manny is the Bruce Lee of boxing. His basketball and martial arts background give him that speed and agility. You can't tell where his shots are coming from. Unlike Rocky, Bruce Lee was a real dude and so is Manny.

- Bernard Hopkins, Former Two-Division World Champion and Future Boxing Hall of Famer

"I think Manny Pacquiao is going to be too quick for Cotto.  I was ringside when Cotto fought Clottey.  He seemed to struggle a bit in that fight and it is hard to say what he will do against a faster, quicker Pacquiao.  I know people say Cotto is the bigger guy but I still think Pacquiao beats him in a decision."

- Joe Calzaghe, Former Undefeated Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight Champion

"Manny Pacquiao, he's the best, he's on top right now!"

- Chad Dawson, Current IBF Light Heavyweight Champion

"It's going to be an interesting fight, and I think Pacquiao better take it very seriously! I think Cotto will win because he's a little bit bigger and is a real welterweight. His power may be enough to overcome Pacquiao's speed. I think Cotto wins in a decision."

- "Sugar" Shane Mosley, Current WBA Welterweight Champion

"If Cotto stays busy, he'll win a decision! I think that Cotto will win the fight, but I thinks it's gonna be a good fight!"

- Winky Wright, Former Undisputed Light Middleweight Champion, Current Middleweight Contender

"Manny is a big puncher and a good boxer, but he has never faced a natural welterweight like Miguel. Cotto is the most dangerous fight of Pacquiao's career. On the night of the fight, Pacquiao will still not be a full welterweight. And Cotto is very strong. As the fight plays out, around rounds 7, 8, 9, that's when Cotto starts taking over. I think Cotto will win be decision, but he might even get a knockout. With all of my heart I think Miguel Cotto will win."

 - Tito Trinidad, Former Three-Division World Champion and Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year

"I'm a Puerto Rican like Cotto, but I like Pacquiao because he has fought better guys, like De La Hoya. I see him having no problem against Cotto. Cotto is not a smart fighter, he boxes, and he's shown his colors already. He can be beat. So can Pacquiao, but I like Pacquiao. He has an unorthodox style, with punches coming from all over. Cotto tries to box. I see Pacquiao possibly stopping him. Pacquiao's on a roll, he has the confidence, and he has the boxing momentum. I see him winning."

- Hector Camacho, Former WBC and WBO Three-Division Champion

"Pacquiao is a good boxer and Cotto is a fighter. I'm going to give the edge to Cotto, and not just because he's Puerto Rican, but because of the way he fights. He always comes to fight, he's always in shape. Cotto is going to have the edge. I see him winning by decision, but I do think he can knock Pacquiao out if the chance arrives."

- Carlos Ortiz, Former Three-Time World Champion and International Boxing Hall of Famer

THE ATHLETES ARE PICKIN'...

"I think Pacquiao will win in 12 rounds, but if there is a knock out I think it will happen in the 9th. Pacquiao is too quick for Cotto."

- Terrell Suggs, Three-Time Pro-Bowl Linebacker/Defensive End, Baltimore Ravens

"I'd like to see Pacquiao win because then he'd get to fight Mayweather, and THAT's a fight I really want to see!"

- Vernon Davis, Tight End, San Francisco 49'ers

"I think Pacquiao will win with a knock out in the 8th round. He is the best pound for pound fighter right now and he will be too much for Cotto to handle."

- Brandon Marshall, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos

"I think its going to be a great fight, but I think Cotto's got the edge because Pacquio leaves himself open too much. So I'm going with Cotto in a decision"

- Kellen Winslow Jr., Tight End, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

"It should be one of the best fights of the year between two incredible boxers.  Cotto's size advantage could help him early on - if it does go the distance, I think Pacquiao's technique and experience will be tough to beat.  But, I say Cotto wins at the end of the day."

 - Kris Jenkins, Four-Time Pro Bowl Defensive-Tackle, New York Jets

"Manny's quickness on his feet and landing punches will help to win on a knock out."

- Justin Morneau, Three-Time All-Star, 2006 AL MVP, 2008 Home Run Derby Champion, First Baseman, Minnesota Twins

"Manny. He's quick and that might be too much for Cotto to handle."

- Justin Verlander, Two-Time All-Star, 2006 AL Rookie of the Year, Pitcher, Detroit Tigers

"If Cotto can slow the fight, hit Pac with lead rights, he will be good. I believe Pac will have too much activity, and cuts will play a role in a Pac victory"

 - Lee Evans, Wide Receiver, Buffalo Bills

"Cotto will be the last one standing!"

- Brian Roberts, Two-Time All-Star, Second Baseman, Baltimore Orioles

"Miguel Cotto will end Manny's domination with hard jabs and will knock him out in the later rounds to end Pac-Mans reign."

- Gordon Beckham, 2009 Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year, Third Baseman, Chicago White Sox

"Pacquiao....I think he is on a roll right now and he doesn't get enough credit for the power he brings so I think he wins by decision."

-  Calvin Pace, Linebacker, New York Jets

THE CELEBRITIES ARE PICKIN'...

"Pacquiao and Cotto are two of the best welterweights out there.  While both fighters possess tremendous punching power and heart, I believe that the speed of Pacquiao will earn him the WBO welterweight belt.  If Pacquiao is victorious, Mayweather would be the next fight that I and all fans would want to see."

- Donald Trump, Chairman and CEO of The Trump Organization

"If Cotto reconnects the way he was three years ago, he may give Pacquiao a problem"

- Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, Hip-Hop Artist, Actor and Entrepreneur

"Pacquiao is my guy, we've hung out before. He's the kind of guy you'd want with you if a bar fight broke out, I will be there to support him!"

 - Tyrese Gibson, Actor starring in Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

"Manny Pacquiao's nickname is 'The Mexicutioner.' He's beaten more Latinos than the police. Pacquiao...unanimous decision."

- George Lopez, Comedian, Actor, and Host of Lopez Tonight!

"I'm sorry, the Filipino's going to win!"

- Mark Consuelos, Television Personality and Former All My Children star

"Both have no quit. Basically it's Pacman's speed and angles vs Cotto's powerful body shots and boxing skills. Two things to watch, if Cotto's cut above eye opens. And does Cotto's new trainer get him fighting sharper than he did against Clottey? This one will go down with the classics. If Cotto's on he wins, if not Pacman."

 - John Leguizamo, Emmy-Award Winning Actor from Moulin Rouge, Ice Age, Collateral Damage and Assault on Precinct 13.

"I've seen plenty of people talk about standing in front of Pacquaio, but those people always seem to not make it through too well.  Cotto will be the same.  Pacquiao in a walk.  Knock out in the fifth or sixth."

- Carrot Top, Comedian

"I'm going to have to go with Pacquiao. I saw his last fight and he's just out of control!"

-Sam Trammell, Actor in hit series True Blood

"Pacman wins cause Pacman fights. If Pacman loses, then the Philippines won't have no lights!"

- Andre Royo, Actor appearing in television series The Wire

THE WRITERS ARE PICKIN'...

"This is a fight of speed and accuracy for Pacquiao, against the body punching of Cotto. Vegas has always been Pacquiao's home, and the Evel Knievelof boxing will leap over another opponent to come away with the win. Pacquiao also has a secret ingredient called Freddie Roach, who's battle plans bring tears to the eyes of Robert E Lee. Cotto is a gutsy and gritty fighter, but I think Pacquiao stops him on cuts, and wins in the 8th round."

- Burt Sugar, boxing writer and historian

"Manny Pacquiao, because his strength and speed has not been lost as he has gone up in weight. Cotto gets hit too much because he's just not quick enough to defend himself against someone as lightning-quick as Pacquiao."

- Bob Velin, USA Today

"I initially picked Pacquiao, but I did a flip flop on this one. For a guy that started at 106, you have to figure he's going to climb up one division too high at one point. Cotto is not an Oscar at the end of the line, and he's not Ricky Hatton. He's one of the top five or six in the world, and he's a natural welterweight. I'm picking Cotto by decision. His strength is going to be too much. Pacquiao keeps surprising me, but this may be the fight where he goes up one weight class too many."

- Bernard Fernandez, Philadelphia Daily News

"Pacquiao by a knockout. His left is a laser and Cotto is fairly easy to hit with straight shots."

- Gordon Marino, Wall Street Journal

"Pacquiao has enjoyed a meteoric rise by beating on offensive oriented fighters (David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton) but Cotto will be the first true counterpuncher he has faced since Juan Manuel Marquez. Cotto has the speed and skill to deflect Pacquiao's heaviest shots and the power in both hands to return a few of his own. Expect a back-and-forth, uber competitive fight that is worth every dollar of the Pay Per View price-but expect Cotto to emerge with the decision."

- Chris Mannix, Sports Illustrated

"I am having an incredibly hard time picking this fight. I find myself going back and forth - which is, of course, the sign of an excellent matchup. The big factors are going to be whether Cotto can cope with Pacquiao's speed, and whether Pacquiao can deal with Cotto's strength. I can see a scenario in which either man wins; but I still can't escape the feeling that Cotto is a little diminished after his fight with Antonio Margarito. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him win, but for now, I think Pacquiao's speed and sheer volume of punches will prove too much, and Pacquiao will win by clear decision."

- Kieran Mulvaney, Reuters

"Pacquiao's extraordinarily fast and Cotto has slowed down since the Margarito fight. If I were convinced Cotto was going to be the same guy he was before he fought Margarito, I'd take him. But I think he's slowed because of the damage he took in that fight and, as a result, I expect Manny to move in and out, hitting Cotto and sliding out of danger. I expect a great fight but I expect Manny to win a decision."

- Kevin Iole, Yahoo.com

"Cotto in a decision. He is the first legitimate welterweight that Pacquiao has faced who is in his prime rather than a blown up junior welterweight or a fighter who is no longer in the prime of his career."

- Tim Smith, New York Daily News

"I like Pacquiao to stop Cotto in the 10th round of what should be a tremendous fight. Pac-Man's speed will eventually get through Cotto's skillful defense, but not before Manny is forced to answer his toughest challenge yet. Pacquiao's gloves will be punishing enough with only his fist inside. Mayweather might want to book the winner quickly because fans just might like to see a sequel to this."

- Jim Slater, Agence France Presse

"This figures to be Pacquiao's toughest test yet. Cotto is big, strong and tough. He also showed great resolve in beating Joshua Clottey in June. However, Pacquiao is at the top of his game and despite the apparent distractions during his training camp in the Philippines, he can overcome that and use his speed, power and quickness to stop Cotto. Plus, there's the motivation of a potential mega payday with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the spring if Pacquiao wins. So he figures to be ready to give his best performance inside the ring. It will be a close fight, a tough fight with Cotto having his moments of brilliance, especially early on. But Pacquiao will weather the early storm and should eventually pull it out, earning a split decision."

- Steve Carp, Las Vegas Review-Journal

"Pacquiao has proven his greatness. But even the great ones get beat and tonight Pac Man gets beat. Miguel Cotto is a strong, tough world-class welterweight who will wear down Pacquiao over the course of a very good fight. Cotto can handle speed -- as he did when he beat Sugar Shane Mosley. But Pacquiao won't be able to handle this welterweight's strength and power. Cotto wins by 11th-round TKO."

- Bobby Cassidy, Newsday

#1 PacFan "KO's Cotto in 7":  Pacquiao's speed and power will prevail November 14th! Pacquiao is going to outwork Miguel in a one-sided affair and finish him off in the seventh round.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 02:07:19 PM
shark:  I picked Miguel Cotto to win, is going to be a great boxing night against two great warriors who always chose the best oposition. I made my prediction because Pacquiao is no as good against counterpunchers like Cotto.

Anony:  PREDICTION ::::::::: Arum said it better than anybody. Predictions and bets are based on the amount of people who likes to gamble. 90 Millions Pinoys vs. 8.5 Boricuas (including niuyoricans)... that's almost 10 times the people of Puerto Rico. So bets don't mean anything. On the other hand, people don't want to look bad predicting against Pacquiao again, like me who picked DLH and Hatton, but this time is different. I maybe wrong but you can't believe all the hype cause Cotto ain't bluffing around. As you can see his focus has been beyond any other fight. He started training right after Clottey (3 months already), he went to Tampa to stay away from distractions, he doesn't do ANYTHING BUT BOXING WORK, he looks better than ever physically, etc.... so.... if Cotto is better fighter now than he was against Shane and Margacheato and Clottey... well... you should be aware that Pacquiao is facing by far the best opponent of his career. I wonder what would be the outcome if Cotto faces DLH, Hatton, Díaz or JMM...? Think about it twice before answering and then think if you should keep downplaying Cotto saying he will get KO in the first or the 7th, etc. THIS FIGHT MOST LIKELY WILL GO THE DISTANCE AND IF THAT IS THE CASE, PACQUIAO COULD BECOME THE WINNER JUST BECAUSE SOMEHOW HE MANAGED TO STAY AWAY FROM TROUBLE FOR 12 ROUNDS BUT IF HE GETS CAUGHT LIKE MOSLEY WITH THOSE BIG PUNCHES.... WELL... (FILL THE LINE).

deepwater:  one last time. haye wins. cotto wins.kessler wins.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 02:55:14 PM
ultimoshogun:  Pacman will have his hand raised at the end of the night....his hand speed and high motor will be the difference. Pacman will still have a full tank while Cotto will begin to fade in the championship rounds. Pacman by TKO somewhere between rounds 9-12.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 03:07:31 PM
in touch:  It's usually speed over power. In this case pac has got speed and power. SO, how can u pick against him. 9th round ko for pac.

Anony @ Gabriel Montoya:  TALKING ABOUT BEING DISRESPECTFUL.... here is a quote from "another boxing site" high profile boxing writer. Check this out:::: "I don’t see one thing that Cotto does better than Pac Man. The only person that can beat Pacquiao is himself, if he’s not taking it seriously, Cotto is not that good, never was."..... see..... this guy is so biased that he should not be a boxing journalist. How come he will have the cojones to face Cotto in the after fight press conference if he wins???? Imagine if Cotto say... "you know Gabriel, I read what you wrote about me and I found very disrespectful from you to diminish my career and the opponents I have faced just like that so you don't deserve an answer from me. NEXT PLEASE". Media should be careful on how the treat our Puertorican champion. I can take critics from Filipino's because they are blinded by their hero but the media should always be measured with their opinions. Gabriel Montoya should remember he makes his money out from boxers. You don't talk like that to your money provider. That's why I don't like "that other website" ----- too much flashy graphics and poor content mixed in a zillion google ads. Woods, Avila, Lotierzo, Kimball and the regular writers here have WAY MORE CLASS. That's why I'm a TSS fan.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 03:16:42 PM
deepwater:  TIM SMITH FINALLY PICKS ONE RIGHT
Monday Nov 9, 2009 03:28:54 PM
Fistic Fury:  Whilst I would love it if Cotto was victorious as i'm a huge fan of his I just can't see it. Cotto is incredibly entertaining to watch and I really like his demeanour and style of the way he moves in the ring but he is very beatable and a little fragile in my opinion. He's especially beatable to a lightening quick fighter like a Mayweather or in this case Pacquiao and I predict that Manny will fight in spurts going in landing a solid combination and getting out again and will gradually begin to wear Cotto down and bust him up, at this point Manny will either step it up and take him out early or not take any chances and take a comfortable decision, I reckon it will be the first option and he'll finish Miguel in or around round 10.... Cotto's chances??? Well I think he has two options. Option 1, he looks to use his excellent timing and catch Manny leaping in which Manny does still do or option 2, take an extremely aggressive fight to Manny being in his face, landing his great body shots and trying to make the pacman exchange. I think option 2 would give him a better chance but I think he will use option 1. Either way it would be a tough ask, with option 1 the danger is Pacquiao's speed could be too much and Miguel could be swinging at thin air and taking punishment in the mean time and with option 2 there is Cotto's stamina to think about, he would have to take Manny out because Manny certainly ain't going to run out of steam. So my prediction is Manny by 10th round stoppage but i'm cheering you all the way Cotto... CAN'T WAIT...
Monday Nov 9, 2009 03:29:46 PM
Jason:  I'm picking Cotto by late stoppage (but NOT with great confidence, I'll add). Miguel has been in with a Who's Who of bona fide welterweights, while Manny has not. Indeed, this is uncharted waters for Pacquiao (the empty vessel that was De La Hoya is completely thrown out in my estimation, and while PacMan's destructive KO of Hatton at 140 was impressive, the 140-pound Hatton simply cannot be compared to the 147-pound prime Cotto). I envision a close fight in the early rounds, with PacMan looking like the great fighter he is and winning a few due to his speed. But as the fight progresses, I believe the wildcard will be this: Manny has never felt a true welterweight's punch/weight, and when he lands, as I believe Cotto surely will, the tide will turn in his favor and PacMan will ultimately succumb to the bigger, stronger man. But hey, maybe PacMan will carry his speed and power to the next level yet again, and win. It certainly wouldn't surprise me. In any event, I am a fan of BOTH guys and think they're both great for boxing. Classy guys with phenomenal skills, and on top of their game. It should be a great show and great night for the sport.

Radam G -- Mga Pinoy huwag kayong magsulat anything bad tungkol mga Kano, we have Manny:  Amen! Hector "Macho Time" Camacho is my MAN! He hollas the TIME like it is. Manny will do a Macho Time and PacMan TIME on Miguel and put him to sleep. Don't trust a snake or a boxer with an agenda to win. Gusto-Gustong niya manalo, whatever is the way! The worst will come out of him and Team Cotto, talaga. He could even pull a Mike Tyson at magkain ang tainga ni Manny. With a green trainer, Miguel is stuck. Getting help with handling Manny, Miguel is totally out of luck. He has put himself into silly family fuel muck. Getting rid of Uncle Evangelista, Team Cotto and Don (daddy) Cotto suck. After Miguel gets his butt scorched, he shouldn't get them a buck. Miguel is super legit. He will never quit. But self-training himself is not the way to go. But he is one proud Cotto. And that is too bad, because the way Manny is going to whoopa whop him will be so sad. But Miguel is bringing it easily on himself for being at his uncle -- MAD! His hot headness has Pinoys and Pinays worldwide - G___! Holla!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 03:39:27 PM
RIVERSIDE@ANONY:  hey bud it's becoming annoying how big underdog cotto has become, cotto's credential are far better than pacman's, i'm leaning towards pacman because of his speed, and cotto fading late, but only by the smallest margin in decision, i can't picture cotto getting knocked out, it took margo 11 rounds beating hit with bricks, how is pacman going to get out with one shot, never!!, cotto is a hell of counterpuncher, i thinking he is going to let pacman lead, cotto is one of my favorite boxers i hope he pulls it out
Monday Nov 9, 2009 04:02:53 PM
Anony @ Radam G:  I'M WRITING SOME PEOPLE'S COMMENTS DOWN... #1Pacfan said 7th round knockout, Roach said 1st round knockout, Radam said Manny is going to whoopa whop him badly... so .... keep them coming (predictions). I'm a Manny fan as well but I will never downplay him and call him "shot" or "not the same boxer after Margarito" and bla, bla, bla. The day of the fight is coming, Miguel deserves this as much or more than Manny. Like I said before, if Manny wanted a 7th belt, he should have taken on Berto. Money is the barrier that Roach, Arum and Manny himslef imposed on his path to greatness. Money won't last forever. History does. Cotto is well aware of it.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 04:05:02 PM
Radam G -- malinamnam 2 b n Pinoy:  There are about 140-million Pinoys and Pinays worldwide. On the nearly 8,000 islands -- many disputed with China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Viet'Nam, there are an estimation of over 90 millions. Even in the United States, there are about 10-million of us legals, 10-million illegals and maybe 5-million more that are passing as other ethnicities. And 3-million multi or bi-ethnic. In Europe, we have about seven million Pinoys residing. Holla!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 04:08:30 PM
Radam G -- last response:  Wow! I'm not one who believes that Cotto is "shot." Cotto is one dangerous pugilist. I'm a BIG TIME COTTO MAN, when he is not fighting my peeps. If I thought that he was going to win, I would say that I hope PacMan win. But it is just like the "Macho Time" Man says, " I see Pacquiao possibly stopping him (Cotto)." Hey Hector, tambien! Como esta, babeeee? Donde es usted? Holla at ya Pinoy, Poppy! Sana, I will see you at the fights. Let's get together, and where is Donputo69? Holla!

#1 PacFan "KO's Cotto in 7":  I'm with Radam on that Anony. I wouldn't sleep on Cotto for one bit, he is a dangerous opponent who has what it takes to turn the fight around his way. I aint writing him off. If Manny does what I think he does then easy night for him. This is an even fight...if Cotto can handle Pacquiao's speed he has the advantage. If Pac can handle Cotto's power then I see Pac cutting him down like a tree in trade-shot-punches-in-bunches affair. As a #1 fan of Pac who do you expect me to pick? Just like you being a #1 fan of Cotto I always expect you to pick your boy over your #2 fighter.

#1 PacFan "KO's Cotto in 7":  Glad to see V. Davis from the niners on the bandwagon. Lopez got jokes lol. What the heck! Trump doesn't know a thing about boxing, one of the best welterweights(Cotto), which we have yet to see is Pacquiao be his best at this weight.

TotoyBato:  Cotto will get the worst beating of his life. Cotto will be ready to quit by round six and will be knocked out in round 7 or 8 if he does not quit.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 06:26:14 PM
Isaiah:  You all should know by now that I picked Cotto to win a awhile back by TKO in the 10th. Everybody knows that no one his own size or especially smaller can FAIRLY beat Cotto. If your're not a cheating coward, you just can't beat Cotto. Manny is a warrior and I admire his pure skill and being made of steel, but he's going down hard! Now to those who picked Manny, just know I'm on a winning streak and prepare to eat you crow!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 06:48:46 PM
dp69:  Amen isaiah....holla back!!!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 06:50:40 PM
Arturo:  Don Puto & Radam are out there clownin!!!!Hope both ya have some fun!! Bring me a hoe...This fight is going to be good and if Cotto is at his best then his speed will be a lot better than what everyone expects. He doesnt look fast but if you see him in his best fights the opponent doesn't react to his punches.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 07:02:32 PM
PETE STEWARD:  If Zab Judah another fast hard hitting south paw had heart and courage and focus he would have crushed cotto. Manny does.... Cotto is gonna wish he was in there with loaded hands margarito. Too fast, too strong, too slick too quick. Pacman in 7 by brutal KO. BRING ON THE MONEY!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 07:04:18 PM
donputo69 chillin in the strip :  Im gonna try and bring u a hoe arturo....lol....i wanna see all u cotto haters out here on nov14 between 12am and 2am eastern time.....i would love to see ya B.S excuses....when is all set and done, AND STILL....WBO WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WOOOOOOOOOORLD, DE CAGUAS PUERTO RICOOOOOOOOO MIGUEL ANGEL COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTO..........YEP...THATS RIGHT...YOU'RE HEARING IT BEFORE IT HAPPENS.....my boy cotto is gonna destroy pacquiao....TKO in 10....holla back!!!

Smiley C:  Hahahahahahaha! Arturo, man, u r crazy fo' sure!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 07:47:25 PM
ali:  I think if Cotto is a counter puncher uses his great jab and mixes in lead right hands he will win. I hope he doesn't try to use his size like dum ass Ricky Hatton if he does he getting KO but I don't think he will. I've watch alot of there fights on youtube this week and I still am having a hard time making a pick but im leaning toward Cotto. Pac foot speed is somethen I think is going to be Cotto biggest problem thats why I said let Pac come to you cause if you chase him you have no chance. Cotto defense is alot better then people think when he has ever been in any trouble most of the time his defense gets him out of it (besides the low blows) from time to time so im going to go with Cotto by KO in the later rounds.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 08:05:49 PM
Isaiah:  Yey really, I hear the same stuff. Well Manny's got so mcuh speed and heart and blah,blah,blah... Cotto has the timing, skills and power to knock Pacman out! Pac's gonna get hit a few times and be like WTF did I agree to?! Next up for the still reigning champ, a bout with the Shane Mosley/Andre Berto winner. Man, in person, I couldn't say that with a straight face. I guess I should just go ahead and sa;y a rematch with Mosley for the Ring Magazine Welterweight championship of the world! Arturo man, I have a girl, but a Las Vegas ho is pretty tempting... Might ask him to pick up 2. AH! Must resist! HA!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 08:07:39 PM
Real Talk:  I'm taking all bets !!! Cotto by late round stoppage !!! True welter, somebodies pissin blood after this one...... an it aint Cotto !!! Cotto keep them hands up and dig !!! I got fools bettin $150 to my $100....hehehe . 57-6-1 . Another couple notches after the 14 th. Whacaaaaa !!!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 08:48:01 PM
bill major:  like macho said, cotto has shown his colors.thats very important in this fight. the speed, power and ,volume of punches that manny pacquiao throws plus his turning constantly so his opponent is a step behind is whats going to make this a devastating loss for cotto. you guys know, styles make fights and this style is a killer for cott+o. size isnt even going to play into this fight. if it was my guy .i would have went for mayweather instead of pac,it was a winnable one for him this is going to be a big ass loss . the whole filipino nation is going to be carrying pacquiao to victory .pac in 2 rds by ko an easy fight for him
Monday Nov 9, 2009 09:06:00 PM
MisterLee:  Yep... pacquiao inside of 8 rounds... shane mosley would spank pacquiao, but not cotto!
Monday Nov 9, 2009 09:23:09 PM
Isaiah@billmajor:  Cmon now. You know Cotto couldn't go after Mayweather and here are the top ten reasons why. 1.)Cotto has too many losses, all 1 of them.2.) Either that or Cotto isn't a big money attraction, (regardless of the multi millions Mayweather would be making) or 3.) Mayweather is busy getting a perm.4.) Maybe Mayweather has a rib injury that week. 5.) The sky is falling. 6.) Ivan Calderon called Mayweather out. 7.) Ricky Hatton wants a rematch with Mayweather. 8.) Ricardo Lopez has to come out of reitrement to fight Mayweather. 9.) Mayweather has to knockout Vince McMahone on the WWE that week and... #10.) Mayweather is SCARED TO DEATH THAT COTTO HAS A GREAT CHANCE TO BEAT HIM!!! Hope you all enjoyed tonight's show of Floyd's latest exscuses. This is the I-Man signing off!

temper proof:  HISTORY TELLS SPEED MAKES A DIFFERENCE: Foreman was stronger but Ali was too fast for him. Sugar Rey Leonard annihilated the much stronger Marvelous Marvin Hagler with his speed. Look at the way JOE CALZAGHE wears down and frustrates almost all of the stronger guys he fought. Hatton, DLH,Diaz were the stronger but Pac's speed is always a couple of steps ahead. Hatton intimidates me more than Cotto because he is quicker. Cotto does not stand a chance against the Pacman. IT'S SIMPLE AS ABC. Cotto is HEAVY & VERY HITTABLE. Under Pac's standard of speed, Cotto is a couple of steps behind. Pacquiao is just gonna test the waters in the first three, wears Cotto down in the 4th, finish him off the end of the bell.
Monday Nov 9, 2009 10:12:00 PM
Robert Curtis:  Manny by TKO, round 6. Unanswered punches. Manny's fast un-loaded gloves will be all over Cotto's face all night. Miguel won't quit. His corner might.
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 02:04:51 AM
Tony Mullen:  I have Manny as my all time favorite warrior...who do you think I'm picking? Manny/his skillz are X-tra ordinary...
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 06:51:16 AM
Anony:  STILL WRITING SOME PEOPLE'S COMMENTS DOWN.... temper proof said "Cotto does not stand a chance against the Pacman." and Robert Curtis said "Manny by TKO, round 6". Mister Lee said "pacquiao inside of 8 rounds. Bill Major said "this is going to be a big ass loss"..... LET'S SEE SATURDAY NIGHT.
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 08:03:25 AM
Irvin:  If Juan Manuel Marquez fought Pacquiao evenly for 24 rounds, Cotto will be too big for Manny. Remember how small and innefficient Marquez looked against Mayweather. Pacquiao is an excellent fighter, but he is given way too much credit for wins against a bad boxer named Hatton and a completely shot DeLaHoya. Remember how Steve Forbes - of all people! - busted DeLaHoya's face in a fight that was supposed to be a training session for Oscar? Cotto by knockout in 4 or 5. An electrifying fight where Pacquiao will have his moments, but he will be too small for Cotto.
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 08:15:59 AM
dp69 @Anony:  Keep on writing them down...lol....i wanna see their post on nov 15....lmfao....holla back!!!a

Crane:  Cotto wins on points. Some o' those pacfans need to wake up. Diaz and Hatton were tailor made for Manny. Face first, easy to hit guys without legit one shot KO power. And don't even get me started on DLH. Everybody knows he was dead at the weight. I like Manny but people need to keep those 3 wins in perspective. While Cotto has slowed a little i thought he dealt well with Clottey (a big, strong, tough guy who no one else wants to fight) even with the real bad cut. You can't question the man's courage. Cotto knows how to cut off the ring and goes to the body real well (look at the way he took out Quintana - also a southpaw) and has a solid stick to compliment his other shots. He's got to disrupt Manny's rythym early. And the key to doing so is the jab. When Vernon beat Sugar Shane's ass in their 1st fight he demonstrated brilliantly how intelligent forward pressure behind a solid stick deals with speed. I think Cotto pulls it out IF he fights smart.

Castro:  I got COTTO all the way on this one guys! Much respect to both warriors! However, come Nov 14th we're really gonna see who's the stronger man. Mentally & physically. Cotto has been hit by some of the hardest punchers in this division & still he comes out with the win. Can't say the same for Pacquiao. Manny can bring all the power shots, left hooks, laser jabs & body blows that he wants to. I can tell you one thing for sure - they won't be as hard as Mosley's or Margarito's & they won't wear him down. Cotto has a chin made of granite, a body made of stone & sledgehammer's for fists! Nevermind his heart (even though we know that is a solid factor when it comes to fighting) Cotto's got plenty of that too. The most important weapon in Cotto's arsenal (next to his experience) is his intelligence! No doubt! He's gonna figure Manny out & when he does it'll be "hasta luego chiquito"! lol Believe me. Manny will not (& I repeat) WILL NOT be able to handle Cotto's power & counter punches. I can gaurantee you that! To all my peeps rooting for Cotto " vamos a mostrarle al mundo quién es el mejor"!! & to ALL of us on TSS.... we are the TRUE winners come fight night! Pc out!

Rico of Quezon City:  Since both of them managed by the astute Bob Arum, it will last a distance...it's either for Cotto or for Manny .... Like what happened to Pacquiao-Morales fight which Bob both promotes..Sometimes in boxing, Money really matters ...Like Pacquiao usually say its a business... So they can have Firepower 2 .. and hopefully 3.....
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 02:50:59 PM
FLOYD MAYRUNNER:  I HOPE COTTO WINS CUZ I REALLY DONT WANNA FACE PACMAN!!
Tuesday Nov 10, 2009 06:37:18 PM
FOS@ MIster Lee:  Hey man your biys Winky and Shane picked Cotto. Cotto will outboxe Pacman like he did to Clottey and Mosley! Prraaaa!
Wednesday Nov 11, 2009 12:36:48 AM
DaveB:  I guess this is the prediction page a couple of days early. I have to go with Pacquaio on this one. Pacman is just too quick on his feet, moving in and out, for Cotto to be effective. Cotto does that cake-walk thing too which I don't like which I see Pacquaio exploiting. I don't know if Pac will get the knockout (which wouldn't surprise me) but he will probably cut up Cotto really bad. So whether by knockout, cuts, or decision I see Pacquaio getting this one. And like everyone else here I like Cotto too, I am definitely no hater. If Cotto wins I'll man up and give him props big time.
Wednesday Nov 11, 2009 01:03:16 AM
Ultisports:  Pacquiao will knock him out by a minute in round1
Wednesday Nov 11, 2009 01:39:53 AM
oskar:  If Cotto opens up he will go down on around 6 but if he close up he won't win only on defense and he will be out point but I still see a K.O. probably by around 8.

Fast Eddie Lands In Germany, Says He'll Land The Shots To Upset Wlad
"An upset is possible in this as I could see Chambers boxing his way to a UD or SD, but I expect the much more likely scenario of a TKO in favor of Wlad in the middle to late rounds, in fact, I'd probably go with TKO in the 8th." --TSS reader Isaiah give Chambers a chance to get the upset win (photo by Jan Sanders)
