LAS VEGAS—Hall of Fame boxing promoter Don King has another first for fans in America and around the world as Don King Productions presents a star-studded, five-fight “Halloween Thrilla” fight card globally on pay per view at www.DonKingTV.com on Saturday, Oct. 31 for $5.99.  The telecast begins at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT live from Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

“I always put on the best fights and I always give the people what they want,” said promoter Don King.   “I always want to give the public the best in fighting because the public appreciates it ten-fold.  I’m very excited about this spectacular global night of boxing on Saturday night.  I welcome all my global friends and fans to join me in making history together around the world with this great Internet technology and a fight card that is second to none on DonKingTV.com”.

When Don King states this show will be a global affair, he means it and he delivers.  Besides the Americans on the card, boxing fans around the world will see world talents from, Cuba, Venezuela, Bahamas, Haiti, Costa Rica and Armenia.

The World’s Greatest Promoter started DonKingTV.com in March of 2008, accomplishing another first in the world of boxing by starting his own network via the Internet.  He featured Cory Spinks and Devon Alexander for free live from St. Louis, Mo.   That event garnered attention from 195 countries around the world.  Fans logged in via the Internet to watch the fight live.  From Albania to Zagreb, boxing fans were able to watch a fight live that was taking place in the U.S.A.’s Midwest.

“I was so excited to see such interest.  This new technology can take boxing back to the people and develop new boxing fans worldwide.  It can enhance the profile of a fighter by giving them more exposure, creating household names as the champions of before.  DonKingTV.com is the people’s network, and it allows boxing fans around the world to enjoy their sport again.  Fans can watch a fight no matter which country they reside in and follow the ups and downs, the fame, fortune and frustrations of their countrymen as they battle to become world champions.

“We will be using up close and personal techniques to bring awareness as in ‘getting to know you, getting to know all about you’ which is one of the great things about the Internet.  We can introduce the fighters, their camps and families to the public in an up close and personal style.”

Halloween Thrilla—a true Don King extravaganza, live from Las Vegas, the city where dreams are made.  The event will bring a ringside view of the event for a global audience, complete with Don King and celebrities in the world of entertainment watching at ringside.  Don King believes that the Internet is the way to give the fans what they want and is the shape of things to come.  It is the marriage of technology and sport, giving sports fans more choices.

King said, “DonKingTV.com is the people’s network.  Your voice needs to be heard.  Let your voice be heard.  I want all the bloggers and all the boxing fans around the world to help me to help you in bringing boxing back to the people.  I am a promoter of the people, for the people, by the people, and my magic lies in my people ties.  Join me on a treasure hunt at Treasure Island.  Your dreams, too, can come true.  Find your pot of gold at the TI.”

WBC USNBC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP/WORLD ELIMINATION BOUT

A WBC elimination bout will be featured on pay per view with WBC No. 3-ranked contender Ray “The Rainman” Austin (27-4-4, 17 KOs), from Cleveland, taking on former top-ranked heavyweight DaVarryl “Touch of Sleep” Williamson (26-5, 22 KOs), from Denver.  The USNBC heavyweight title will also be on the line in this match.

THREE UNDEFEATED FUTURE STARS ALSO INCLUDED ON PPV

Highly touted and undefeated welterweight “King” James De La Rosa (19-0, 12 KOs), a Mexican fighting out of San Benito, Texas; undefeated super welterweight Nelson Linares (18-0-1, 11 KOs), from Venezuela; and freedom-fighting lightweight prospect Angelo “La Cobra” Santana (6-0, 4 KOs), from Cuba now fighting out of Miami, will all be featured on the pay-per-view telecast.

The undefeated De La Rosa will be taking on Lenin “Volcano” Arroyo (20-10-1, 4 KOs), from Armenia, in a 10-round welterweight attraction.  Undefeated super welterweight sensation Linares will be facing Archak “Shark Attack” TerMeliksetian (16-7, 13 KOs) of Fairview, N.J., in a scheduled 10-round clash.

Santana will be featured in a six-round lightweight match against an opponent to be named.

Prior to the Austin-Williamson 12-round heavyweight bout, boxing fans will also be treated to rising heavyweight knockout artist Bermane “B-Ware” Stiverne (17-1-1, 16 KOs), from Miami, Fla.  Stiverne, who has a devastating right-handed knockout punch, will be taking on Jerry “Big Daddy” Butler (8-6-1, 8 KOs), from Nassau, Bahamas, in an eight-round affair.

Successful developer Phil Ruffin recently purchased Treasure Island from MGM Mirage and is making a big statement by presenting a great card.

“I am thrilled to begin Treasure Island's boxing career with a legend,” Ruffin, CEO and President of Treasure Island Hotel & Casino, said. “Like me, Don King is an American original, a true entrepreneur. Together, we look forward to some thrilling Halloween bouts and an exciting boxing future.”

King believes this Halloween promotion with Ruffin at Treasure Island harkens back to his beginnings in boxing where he helped to build Las Vegas into the international tourism destination it is today.  King was honored in Las Vegas last year by being inducted into the prestigious Gaming Hall of Fame.

“I started with Cliff Pearlman at Caesars Palace; went on to work with Kirk Kerkorian at MGM; met up with John Fitzgerald, Henry Lewin and John Giovenco at the Las Vegas Hilton; returned to Caesars and Las Vegas Hilton with Arthur Goldberg, who partnered us with Mike Ensign and Tony Alamo at Mandalay Bay; and now I’m starting fresh yet again with another Las Vegas visionary in Phil Ruffin.”

Isaiah:  No to Don King. No, I will not be ordering this piece of garbage, not even for the low, low, price of just $5.99. I would advise my TSS brethen the same. You know, some times it's just better to let the fans have it on FREE t.v. I guess the word FREE can't be in the Don's vocabulary though. You think he would have heard of the old way of letting fans get associated more with your fighters on regular T.V., so you can have them keep interest and stay excited for the fights deserving to be on PPV. Plus, there's a lot of people like me, who won't pay to watch something on a computer anyway. Wake me up when this is over.

2009 Reader Of The Year Weighs In On Legacies Of Pacquiao And Mayweather
"Pacquiao has proven....in the ring... time and time again that he is the greatest of this time. He has earned his respect. He begs for nothing. He is a man content with his growth, his family and his achievements. A man the world has now turned it's eyes to behold. Floyd Mayweather is not even close in stature. He may possess the greatest skills but he is not the Face of Boxing today. Google Manny Pacquiao. There are 20 million searches. Google Floyd. There are 6.5 million. Look at the NYTimes, the Wall Street Journal and Time. Count how many words were used these past years to mention Floyd Mayweather. Then count the words still being printed about Manny. And keep counting. As I've said many times, Floyd has been too clever by half. He has short changed his public.....and has out-smarted himself. Manny will fight but a few more times. Enjoy it while you can. He is an all time great pugilist. Floyd, with all of his remarkable skills lack the will to be truly great in the biggest sense of the word. His legacy will look more like Holmes that Ali. He has earned it." ---November is half-way gone, but we don't need to keep counting ballots. It's a landslide. Fe'Roz has won the 2009 Reader of the Year award. His comments add to the website immeasurably, and he epitomizes the thoughtful, respectful, educated fan of pugilism we strive to cater to at TSS. Congrats, Fe'Roz, and please accept my thanks for being the valued member of this community that you are. Sincerely, Editor Mike
