Hopkins Rooting For The Phillies As He Gears Up For Dec. 2 Fight

HOPKINS ROOTS FOR PHILLIES AS HIS

HOMETOWN TEAM HEADS TO WORLD SERIES

Philadelphia (October 27) - Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins knows a thing or two about winning big in Philadelphia.  In his outstanding 21-year professional boxing career, Hopkins has fought 10 times in his hometown and has never lost.  A proud Philadelphian, he will be rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies against the New York Yankees in the World Series, hoping they bring home their second title in two years.

 .

"Philadelphia is a fighting city and the Phillies always go for the knockout," Hopkins said.  "It is an exciting time for sports in Philly and I intend to add to that excitement when I bring boxing back to this great city on December 2."

While the Phillies work to bring home a championship, Hopkins is working on his own fighting future as he prepares to face contender Enrique Ornelas at The Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University on December 2, bringing the long standing Philadelphia past time of boxing back to his hometown.

"I have been a Phillies fan my whole life and seeing them in the World Series gives me extra incentive to train hard for my fight, win and make Philly proud too," Hopkins continued.  "The World Series is always a tough fight and I am excited to see what they can do against the hard-hitting Yankees, but I know they have what it takes to come out on top and reign as Champions again."

Isaiah:  Wow. Keanu Reeves is tougher then I thought. I still don't think he has anything on B-HOP though. Decision for Grandmaster Hopkins of course. UD by a landslide for the one and only Executioner! Reeves, I mean Ornelas, better crawl back into the Matrix before this one even starts. "Woah DUDE! I just felt the POP from B-HOP and it just won't Stop!" Looks like the pain will be to insane for this tuneup. Look at him, acting like he belongs in the same ring... Shoot, dude, this is going to be a BOGUS JOURNEY for sure!!! Right on dude! Right on the mat, that is!! HA!!!

2009 Reader Of The Year Weighs In On Legacies Of Pacquiao And Mayweather
"Pacquiao has proven....in the ring... time and time again that he is the greatest of this time. He has earned his respect. He begs for nothing. He is a man content with his growth, his family and his achievements. A man the world has now turned it's eyes to behold. Floyd Mayweather is not even close in stature. He may possess the greatest skills but he is not the Face of Boxing today. Google Manny Pacquiao. There are 20 million searches. Google Floyd. There are 6.5 million. Look at the NYTimes, the Wall Street Journal and Time. Count how many words were used these past years to mention Floyd Mayweather. Then count the words still being printed about Manny. And keep counting. As I've said many times, Floyd has been too clever by half. He has short changed his public.....and has out-smarted himself. Manny will fight but a few more times. Enjoy it while you can. He is an all time great pugilist. Floyd, with all of his remarkable skills lack the will to be truly great in the biggest sense of the word. His legacy will look more like Holmes that Ali. He has earned it." ---November is half-way gone, but we don't need to keep counting ballots. It's a landslide. Fe'Roz has won the 2009 Reader of the Year award. His comments add to the website immeasurably, and he epitomizes the thoughtful, respectful, educated fan of pugilism we strive to cater to at TSS. Congrats, Fe'Roz, and please accept my thanks for being the valued member of this community that you are. Sincerely, Editor Mike
