Dirrell Predicts Him And Kessler In Super Six Final

ANDRE DIRRELL MEDIA WORKOUT QUOTES AND PHOTOS FOR SHOWTIME SPORTS® SUPER SIX WORLD BOXING CLASSIC

Monday, Oct. 12 in Nottingham, England

Andre Dirrell had a media workout on Monday, Oct. 12 in Nottingham, England as the unbeaten American wound down preparation for his fight showdown against WBC Super Middleweight champ Carl Froch this Saturday at the Trent FM Arena.

Dirrell will take on Froch as part of Group Stage 1 of SHOWTIME’s® groundbreaking Super Six World Boxing Classic at LIVE at 8 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast) on SHOWTIME.

“King” Arthur Abraham (30-0, 24 KOs) of Berlin, Germany, will face former undisputed middleweight titleholder Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor (28-3-1, 17 KOs) of Little Rock, Ark., from the o2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany on same-day-tape-delay.

NOTTINGHAM, ENGLAND NEW YORK (Oct. 12, 2009)

QOUTES FROM DIRRELL:

On fighting Froch for the WBC World Super Middleweight title:

“I want that belt, that's my sole mission and I plan on taking it back to America.  I can't wait to get in that ring and shine and show the world what I can do.”

On the Super Six tournament:

“You got all the stars and you can't ask for more that that. You got four world champions, you got four undefeated fighters and all six of us in this tournament have the will to win, to bring something new to the game and become superstars. This tournament holds the cream of the crop and a star will emerge and I believe that star is going to be me.”

On his tip for reaching the Super Six final:

“I favor Mikkel Kessler to get to the final, I don't favor him to beat me of course, I don't favor anybody to beat me.”

On jetlag following his arrival and fighting against Froch at 2 a.m. in the morning:

“I'm feeling good. I'm not worried about the jetlag because the fight is going to be at 2 a.m. here, which is 8 p.m. back in the States, and that's the time I'm used to fighting at anyway. I’ve adjusted my schedule while I’m here to work out to those times so I’ll be doing my workouts this week at 2 in the morning.”

On the remainder of fight week:

“Everything's done. The hard work is done and I'm in the best shape I can possibly be in so this is cool down week”

the Roast:  I hope Dirrell fights as good as he talks. I cant wait for this Saturday nite!

Isaiah:  I've got shocking news for Dirrell. He's not making it to the final! Enjoy the ride while he can because it's going to be a short one! Kessler's in the final and it's kind of a tossup who's going to be the other one. I guess Abraham.

Fe'Roz :  From what I've seen so far, Dirrell's confidence and talk are greater than the threat he poses in the ring. But give the man his chance. The whole world will be watching. Saturday night. And only one man will have his hand raised. we shall see.

MisterLee:  Froch exposes him for a flawed athletic fighter with bad timing and no defense. Froch is a better boxer than most of you think, he'll show his jab and head movement this time around. A batch of crow for Froch, and abraham stops JT within 10 rounds. Holler!

brownsugar:  I watched a little youtube,.. Dirrell is quite versatile,. he does everything that JT doesn't,.. he floats around the ring in either direction,.. and punch with power moving backwards,.. his rope a dope is better than anyone Froch has faced and when Dirrell volume punches it doesnt' empty his tank for he whole fight like JT,.. he'll be sharp and ready,... and I'm sure Froch will be also,.. Froch can box,.. but not to the degree that Dirrell can,.. he will need to rely on his strength, durability,.. and excellent stamina,.. if Froch is going to win,.... reserve my plate of Crow if you like Mister Lee,.. but I'm leaning toward Dirrell,.. in this one,.. and yes I know my choice defies conventional logic...

brownsugar:  my crystal ball is a bit hazy for the JT vs AA bout,.. because I have huge questions about AA,.. while not a "gifted" boxer like JT,.. he manages his resources well,.. and usually waits for opponents to lose steam before he comes on,.... question is,.. did moving up allow AA to grow into bigger stronger faster fighter,.. of will he be a slightly over sized middleweight fighting at 168?? and I've seen him struggle with his offense against guys that eventually time his power punches,... should be interesting,... JT's back is against the wall,... it's do or die time now ,.. if he's ever going to get a "Come-Up" now is the time...

Smiley C:  Kessler will not see the finals. Andre Ward is going to see to that in Oaktown fo' sure!

TheTruth:  Whether Dirrell has to "stink" the joint out by throwing 1-2's on the retreat or whether he has to use his entire arsenal...HE WILL BEAT FROCH...C'mon I'll give Froch his chin, heart, will, and conditioning...Hell, I'll even chalk up the Taylor Performance (partially) to him being Nervous about fighting on US Soil for the 1st time...I expect him to use his jab more and fight a MUCH better fight, but I expect the FOOT WORK of Dirrell to be 75& of a KEY factor in this fight...I know they are similar in height, but Froch will over-extend to try to reach the quicker Dirrell and that's where he will get countered ALL NIGHT...the more aggressive Froch is in this fight, the more he will get hit...I got Dirrell by 9th Rd K.O.

Wayne:  I think Froch is gonna be in big trouble come Saturday Night. That's going by the Recent Taylor fight. Dirrell at this point is a better Boxer than Taylor. Froch is not a fast fighter. Dirrell is a fast fighter on the way up and he is unbeaten like Froch. Expect a close fight that goes the distance. Will Dirrell win. If Dirrell boxes and makes it through some tough moments he can win by work rate alone. Out of the 3 Americans Dirrell has the best chance at winning the first time around.

Angie And Goody...23 Years Later
Twenty three years later after they seconded Marvin Hagler and Ray Leonard in Las Vegas, Goody Petronelli and Angelo Dundee crossed paths again. This time, it was at Foxwoods. Photo/friend of TSS "The Iceman" John Scully reports there were only pleasantries exchanged. Goody didn't debate the split decision victory enjoyed by Leonard, which to this day Hagler disputes.
