How about that? Two 140 pounders are slicing up a $60 million pie. The little guys are carrying the sport in 2009.

Pacquaio-Hatton Is On, 99.9% On

By Michael Woods

It’s 99.9% done. Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton will throw down on May 2nd, in Las Vegas, with only the venue yet to be determined.

Expect the building to be chosen in the next day or so, as Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum and Hatton’s rep, Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy are hashing out venue details today.

Ricky Hatton had tried to give himself a hometown boost, politicking to hold the scrap in England. That location had more than a bit of merit to it, as the thought of jamming 50,000 rabid Hatton boosters into Wembley Stadium makes sense from a gate revenue perspective. But the time difference—England is five hours ahead of us on the East Coast—throws a hitch into that plan. Starting the main event at 4 AM is not fair to the punters who paid good money to see their man Hatton try and derail the Pacquiao P4P Express.

The Thomas and Mack Center or MGM Grand are believed to be the two arenas in the mix to stage the signature fight for the first half of 2009. The 30-year old Pacquiao (48-3-2) will enter the bout as the favorite, on the strength of his nine fight win streak, and the buzz that remains from his conclusive takedown of Oscar De La Hoya. Hatton (45-1), also 30, is enjoying a bit of a career boost, as he looked sharp and strong in battering Paulie Malignaggi in November. Under the gaze of new trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., fight fans think the old dog may be learning some new tricks at this late stage of his career, and will provide a stern test for Pacquiao. The bout will take place at the 140 pound class, Hatton’s best division. Pacquaio last fought in a welterweight scrap with Oscar, but weighed 142 pounds at weigh in, so he was basically a junior welter on that night.

Most pundits expect, with the aid of hindsight, that Hatton will provide a much more grueling, physical hurdle than Oscar, who by all accounts was sapped by caloric deprivation. Will Pacquiao be able to employ his Coach Roach style, now perfected, against Hatton, who will look to mug and maul the Filipino more than any rival in recent memory? Will Manny be thrown off not fighting someone of Mexican descent? After ten straight bouts against Mexicans or Mexican Americans, will Pacquiao, not wearing his Mexicutioner cape,  be able to function with the same efficiency?

Weigh in, TSS Univserse, on Pacquiao-Hatton. And may I be the first to go out on a limb, and refer to the bout as Pacquiao-Hatton I? I expect a war, a bloody, harsh war of attrition, with the winner eking out the nod by no more than a point or two on the cards. A sequel, I say, is a given.

lostboy:  wow!! this is big, i cant wait to see the two great fighter that will collide on may2. to whom you will bet?are sure to him.LOL

Big Daddy:  Finally, a Big Fight that isn't All-Hype. Manny will get the late KO against a somewhat overrated Hatton. It should be a very physical fight , depending on the Referee and how much Hatton "Rough House" tactics he allows. Hey SOHK , checkout Steve Kim's 2 part article this week on Maxboxing about Steroids.. Very Interesting.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Big Ape:  Could be a lot like Pacquiao-Agapito Sanchez, in which case Pacquiao's mettle will be tested! Still, I gotta go with the Pac Man by decision.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Radam G aka Humble PRG from Manila w/love:  There are rumor that this bout will be in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, but I doubt that. I'm looking forward to it being in Las Vegas, NV, but I'd love for it to be in Manila or Macao, or even Dubai. Manny is so very nice. He named his December-(newly)-born baby girl after Queen Eliabeth of Great Britian. Now he is going to give Great Britian pugilist "Tricky" Ricky Hatton a beat down as gift to the new born. And the purse is going to be "Fatton." Rumor are flying that each pugilist will bank 30-million plus. Because Ricky is the most improved fighter of the year for 2008 -- in my humble opinion -- I've say that he will last 10 rounds. Ten rounds of getting a terrible beating. Holla!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
#1 Pacfan P4P "Express":  Let's get ready to rumbleeeeee!!!!Pacquiao-Hatton will be a classic. Pacquiao by KO in the ninth.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Tom_L:  "Starting the main event at 4 AM is not fair to the punters who paid good money to see their man Hatton try and derail the Pacquiao P4P Express." So instead of being able to see the fight on home soil, we will only be able to watch it ppv. From America. At 4am. Right, so much better. It'll be a great fight, fighting at the correct weight, it'll be a proper test for Manny. Hatton on points.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Radam G aka Humble PRG glad to be with/for D PAC from PI:  Trainer Joy May -- a credit for change -- has turned Ricky Hatton into being a little bit tricky. I'm just glad that he won't be using the shoelace trick against Manny. Besides, Manny would knock those laces off Ricky's two left feet. We all know that Pops Joy May has already written to poetry to recite. This is his way of hyping the fight. I just may come out of hiding in plain sight and spit my own rhymes for Nation, Team and Posse Pac. Naught! Ain't gonna do it. I don't won't to give these haters another sighting of this G man. G is for ___________. Holla!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
rudy:  This might be a worse beatdown that Manny-Oscar, the PacMan to gobble up Ricky in 6. Its going to be fun while it lasts.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
rudy:  Oh yea, how great would this fight be if it if was off PPV? Imagine the hype if it was a HBO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Card???
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Robert Curtis:  Great news! Best money match in years! The hurt will equal the hype. I'm going to have to mull this one over before I leap in with a prediction. Manny is a natural born world champ the likes of which only comes around once in a decade or two. But Ricky looked awfully good against Paul M. in his last bout. Floyd Sr. in his corner improved his game tenfold. Ricky's not a quitter or a slapper or a slippery scareweather, so like that movie says: There will be blood.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Shep:  I like Ricky Hatton in this fight. I think an analogous fight is Hopkins - Trinidad back in September 2001. EVERYONE picked Trinidad and disregarded Hopkins completely, in spite of how good he was (particularly then) and his size advantage. Both are outstanding fighters, but Hatton is bigger (like Hopkins), takes a great shot, and is relentless. Of course, one can say that Oscar was a bigger guy and Pacquiao had no problems with him (Trinidad also beat Joppy, a bigger guy, but not a true middleweight). True, but Oscar was an empty vessel that night and never landed. Hatton is no empty vessel and will land. I like Hatton by late stoppage, much like Hopkins over Trinidad.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Jovalenc:  This is a great match. After this match non-believers of Pacman will realize that indeed Manny Pacquiao is the greatest boxer of all time because in this match the best of Manny will shine mesmerizing and shutting off the mouth of Floyd Mayweather Sr.. Bring it on. Mabuhay Manny Pacquiao!!!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
RIVERSIDE:  i can see a competive fight, hatton pushing around pacman and pacman picking his spots, i'm not sure how good chin hatton has, he was ko by mayweather, mayweatther is not the biggest puncher, picking pacman to stop hatton in 11, cotto will be next at 147, i'll take cotto over pacman any day
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Jeff W:  Wow!!! This would be the greatest and most awaited fight of the year. The humble guy- Manny 'Pacman' Pacquaio would continue to reign his supremacy in the boxing world. So people around the world, let's support and bet Manny for $100,000 each... :) Mike, I would suggest to name the upcoming fight of Manny and Ricky as follows - " Classic Battle" " Collision Course" " Ultimate Warriors" " .....xxxClashxxx ...... What's your thought? Please share your suggestion for the name that best decribe the fight... thanks
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Ed:  Manny will stop Hatton on 11th Rd KO. Again back to preparation prior to the fight. I don't Ricky has ever been in a ring with a fast, solid, powerful, awkward and non-stop action packed southpaw? Manny on the other hand fought so many forward, rough-house pugilist in the past. Can Ricky adjus to the speed which he can improve during training/sparring? But can they be able to find one that will replicate Pacman's style so that Ricky can have a gauge on what's coming in? We all need to realize that Pacquiao is becoming a solid technical fighter now but won't shy away from finishing off his opponent the minute he sense or smells blood. Just a fact!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Sodamn Insane:  This will be a Bloody fight indeed because Hatton cuts too easy and he might ran out of blood before round 5 This should be a great fight to watch in HD wow a great match , I hope they don't screw up the undercard on this one
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Yuvie:  This is a tough one for Pacquiao. People are under-estimating Hatton. Hatton will always struggle against the tricky boxers. I guess Pac has become kind-of tricky of late but this will be his first real test since Marquez. The big question for me is how is he gonna cope with a naturally bigger Hatton who's probably gonna grab and spoil. I dunno, as much as Pac is the favorite, even to the hardcore Hatton fans, I just see something in it for Hatton. Pac's chin ain't been tested at such a large weight and I'm sure it will be in this fight. It's fairly obvious that this fight will be one-sided. Pac could absolutely cut Hatton to shreds or I see Hatton getting the shock knockout early on in the fight. At this point, I'm going with the latter.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
sTeIn:  whether the fight is in UK or here in the'h US, am gonna still see it live. although I like the way Manny fights, with his prowess power, but still I go with Ricky, he has a undying heart, attacks like a beast....GO GO Ricky! don't let us down.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
lostboy:  i think the good name for this match is "THE FLAG BEARERS' coz both of them had a huge followers from their own countries.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
ed vega:  some say ricky will bring manny down, but manny is not standing there and wait for the punch he innetiate the the punch and move quick i dont think hatton beat the pacman it could be short night for the hitman
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
manny mendoza:  wow, this one is gonna be really special.HAtton will find out how quick Manny left hand really is.i just can'tsee him pushing the Pacman arround. In 10 rnds. for the pacman.Let's hear what Roger Mayweather will say about this fight this time.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
dyotay:  Pacquiao VS Hatton, This will be a good fight. will draw a lot of boxing fans. For those who predict that they will knock him down Pacquiao, always got beaten up by PACMAN. If Im Hatton just be quiet , he gonna get humiliated once Pacquiao knock him down on the 6th round on the night of 02MAY2009. If you look at Hatton on Manny last fight againts ODLH. Hatton was amazed of Pacman performance that night. Probably thinking is this for REAL. He was expecting ODLH gonna win that night. If hatton will keep coming in to Pacman, the fight will ended early. Hatton will see a lot of stars.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Clint Delvo:  The PACMAN will gobble up Hatton. He's too strong and too fast for the wily Englishman. It wil be a fitting gift to Pacman's little girl, "Queen Elizabeth".
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
jeffnaicboy:  i think this is gonna be d' best fight ever 5 rounds knock out by pacquio,,,,,,,pinoyPriDe!!!!!!!!!!! && i wanna see gayweather vs pacquiao too!!!!aarriiigghhtt!!!!!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
#1 Pacfan P4P "Express":  Rudy is so cheap he would rather spend a penny to watch a heavyweight match on PPV than watching Manny fight. Come on man! This guy is worth every penny we spend to watch him.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
zackJr:  A good title for this match could be 'The Fearless'...!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
tougherthantough:  I smell blood on this fight.Hatton will be the toughest test for The Pacman. But still the no mess..no fuss...just pure impact The Pacman will win
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
rudy:  Your such a moron PacFan. I dont mind paying the PPV tag for high quality fight like this one featuring two guys who always come to fight. What I was saying, you peanut brained fool, is imagine the attention, hype, and how great for the sport it would be for a fight of this caliber to be on regular HBO and not cost everyone $50-60 to watch this bout?? This is the type of fight your Average Joe needs to pay attention to but because of PPV prices (and $h!tty economy) they DONT. Pendejo.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Johnny:  agree with lostboy; the falg bearers sounds good or flag wars maybe, but definitely, something which has word 'flag' on it.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
gem:  When pacquiao fought barrera the first time, he was the underdog, i told my friends then, that barrera never met a boxer like pacquiao, now i will say it again hatton never met a boxer like manny.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
rex:  go pacquiao..... back in Cali Jan. 8th... filipino power...yeah...
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Gil P. Acosta:  How can the Hitman apply pressure when he is actually eating a lot of leather before he gets near the Pacman? This is a mismatch. A robot like Hatton will never win against an imaginative unpredictable Pacman. Just a reminder folks: Mayweather is not a power puncher but he was able to knock the Hitman. Pacquiao will be climbing the ring not at 140 but heavier than that. Expect an early KO by Pacquiao.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
opongsky1968:  all...the best titel for the fight will be "THE HIT-PAC:MAN TO MAN BATTLE"....wanna hear ur comments..
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Saul:  This bout will be good for as long as it lasts, but honestly I dont see it going the distance. It's going to end in by KO, Manny over Ricky in brutal fashion. You think the beatdown Oscar got was bad? just wait.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
ramones:  bloody matchup LETS GET RUMBLEEEEEE........................
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Fistic Fury:  I'm not a big fan of these guys but I can definitely see that this is a good fight. I think it's also alot more competitive than people think, will Ricky's size advantage tell or will the speed be way too much for him? Also it seemed that against De La Hoya, Pacman's punches at welter were powerful but not concussive like at lower weights, will this be the case at 140lbs and lets not forget that Hatton isn't exactly immune to being seriously hurt by a good shot. I think this fight will answer alot of questions...Gun to my head I would say Hatton comes through alot of punishment but because he's not dead at the weight (unlike Oscar) he fights right back and breaks him down for a late stoppage. It will be interesting to see how Manny reacts to Hatton's bodywork...
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Neophyte:  “Galactic Explosion” this fyt will be. Two super stars from the continents of Europe and Asia, like huge meteors in outer space, are on a collision course. The countdown to D-Day has begun…….
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
renz0:  Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao will over power Ricky "The HITMAN" Hatton on May 2, 2009.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
FlurryShuffle:  Here's a title: "The Flip-Limey Throw Down" LoL
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
donzky:  Shep, Pacman is so great in doing one thing. He makes his oponent look so bad. He just beat the hell out of him that people think that guy is washed up. To name a few: Diaz, Mexican greats like Barrera, Morales, De la Hoya. He is just a rare fighter especially if trains and focuses really hard for that figth. No disrespect to Hatton. He is a great fighter too. Pacman by late KO!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
ryvackz:  "white men cant jump" !o!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Emmanuel Aragones:  What a huge fight for both! This is the "Class of the Titans!" Both warriors are aggressive and fast with their fists. Hatton is so aggressive and throws a lot of punches but he has not face like the PacMan and I don't see how he can hurt someone he cannot catch! I go for the PacMan to clobber the Hitman within six rounds! More power and may the best man wins!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
donputo69 laughing at PAC#1fan...:  You calling this fight a classic?...lmfaooooo...classic?..NO...good?...YES...I'm rooting for pacquiao...but don't sleep on hatton...I wouldn't be surprise if hatton stops pacquiao late...yep...you heard it here first...going back to classic...wanna talk about classic fights?...I can name you a few...morales vs barrera...all 3 fights...gatti vs ward...castillo vs corrales...trinidad vs vargas...cotto vs margarito...morales vs pacquiao 1...scareweather vs huh...my bad...he's never been In a classic...lmfaoooooo...holla back!!!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
donputo69 laughing at PAC#1fan...:  One more thing...If the fight is in vegas, I will be there 99.9%...holla back!!!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Neophyte:  Both fighters are skillful, punchers and doesn’t have reverse gears. Pacman is faster but hasn’t been hit by solid punchers like Hitman before. Ricky is a natural LWW but still lacks defense and easily gets cut. An article described Pacman’s all-around movements as a “geometrical nightmare” to his opponents. Neither t-square nor triangle, even calculus or solid measuration, can solve Manny’s angles. Hitman’s grasp and tackle is also a nightmare and frustration to his rivals. His body shots can make Manny cringe and recoil. Let’s see whose skills and tactics will prevail……….
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
GINO Gwapo:  PACMAN will destroy the hitman bit by bit.. PACMAN by KO in round 9!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Juan dela Cruz:  This fight will be a turning point for Manny. This fight will never & ever be easy same with all that he fought whether Mexicans or any other opponent . Manny always sees to it that he will be 100 % ready for Hatton even 101% against England best. This fight will be a rumble non stop whoever stop punching will be knockout. It will be the Pacman on late stoppage why? Just look at his feet & you will wander why.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Botyok:  whatever it is,.... replay the Hatton-Lazcano fight & see it for yourself. Hatton a bit improved by Senior Floyd on the Malignaggi fight. you cant convince us because he didnt floored Paulie. that wasnt enough for an improved Hatton (?) come on. The Pacman Express will run over the Hitman in 10th round @ 1:58, my clock.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Vladimir :  This fight will end in the most brutal fashion imaginable to all viewers savoring for blood. Who will win? For Manny predicting is a sin but i can already smell blood here. This will be a very good fight all the way to the end.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Jerry Lynch:  Finally, a Big Fight that isn't All-Hype. Manny will get the late KO against a somewhat overrated Hatton. It should be a very physical fight , depending on the Referee and how much Hatton "Rough House" tactics he allows. (Big Daddy:) I actually believe Hatton will never be able to "Rough House" Pacman because he will not get trapped on the ropes. Maybe Oscar being so slow in their fight exaggerated the speed of Pac, but not so much that the speed still isn't there. Hatton is not over-rated, just not as fast as Pac & that will be evident on May 2. I look for a late KO of a tiring Hatton after several competitive rounds & then a couple where Pac hits at will before either the ref stops the fight or Hatton hits the canvas. PS: I'm American and not a Filipino "nuthugger" so all who question my thoughts should see I am a boxing fan & not just a fan of the fighter. Many of Pac's fights, including his older ones, are on Youtube for those who wish to watch them. He was jobbed in the Agapito Sanchez fight but as a late replacement beat Ledwhaba for the title & destroyed Barrerra, also as a late replacement. Many do not seem to remember that Pac, before becoming skilled, already had taken the title from a heavily favored Thai fighter in Thailand @ 112 lbs. I believe his biggest problem is his association with the Gloria Arroyo presidency of The Philippines.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
kimchihotchi:  manny pacquiao vs ricky hatton - 05-02-09 - pac ko 9 manny pacquiao vs floyd mwther - 09-07-09 - pac ko 10 manny pacquiao vs jm marquez - 12-14-09 - pac ko 10 manny pacquiao - congressman - 05-10-10
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Ken Nakamoto:  If Manny fights the way he fought Marquez twice, Ricky will win.by KO. But if Manny fights the tactical fights he employed against both Diaz and de La Hoya, Manny wins by TKO or UD.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
People power:  Manny Pacquiao is the reincarnation of Bruce Lee. If Oscar De La Hoya was pulverized by Pacquiao, I'm so realistic to say Ricky Hatton don't stand a chance in even scratching the legendary Pacquiao. Bruce Lee Manny will chop Fatton into pieces of ham in the late rounds. The fighting legacy of Bruce Lee continues and lives on in the body and soul of Manny Pacquiao!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
anubis:  For this fight you have to think Hatton uses same tactics as his last fight like in Hattons last fight a lot of locking up If Hatton keeps tieing up Pacman he will start unleashing a barage of punches in frustration To see this watch Pacman vs Morales they got mad and gave little concern to defense and just slugged it out. Hatton marks real easy and Pacmans strategy is not to knock you out with a punch but to make your face look like you have elephant disease. Due to pacmans win streak power punch spee and he fact its been a few yrs hes been off his feet Pacman in 9th round by ko or stoppage
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
GazaFreak:  i will grab lots of beer on this one. Bring it on!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
blade:  pacquiao had no problem thrashing japanese, thai, korean and black boxers.... hatton will just add up to his list. wahaha!!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Quedancor:  A hell of a fight! May we request that ara and valerie joined as round card girls.. ara 4 pacman and valerie 4 pacman. Isn't it nice? Beer(y) nice! hehehe. pacman tko hatton serious.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
PacPac:  Paulie has no power, that's why hatton looked good with him...but if has power, hatton might have lost that fight..
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Arnis Master:  The only person that can beat pacmans speed is........... Ivan Calderon!!!! run Ivan ... run..... pacman cant catch you.....no way hatton can win......he cant hit what he cannot see...... and...... I suggest he makes ivan calderon as his sparmate... so he can develop skills how to catch speed....how about that ricky?
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Maestro:  I don't know if some of these were already used in previous fights. "Thunder and Lightning" "The Big Bang" or "The Big Crunch" "Fists of Fury"--to borrow from a Bruce Lee film "Dog Fight" "Blood Zone" "Blood Night" "No Man's Land" "Wipeout" "Impact" "Knockout" "The Annihilation" "Power-Punching" "Trigger-Happy" "Battlefield" or maybe "Bottlefield" sounds better to Ricky =)
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
baklita:  no more excuses, no surrender... this is a huge fight from beginning until the end. the end expected at any round stoppage if not knockout. whoever comes prepared is going to have the edge to be victorious. this is the most favored weight for hatton while this is another weight switch for pacman. who gets the best weight tone? title at stake for hatton, pride and glory for pacman. this is tough for both fighters. I see trainer vs trainer specially the blabbermouth of mayweather sr. no wonder mayweather jr has similar foul language... like father like son. prepare for the battle of the small giants. aihihihi!!! baklita
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
ely razote:  i think its too early to predict the outcome. their conditioning as the fight nears matter. both guys have heavy punches and a solid hit or two, can spoil our own fight plans. as of now, the boody-like mouth of maywthr sr. and the knockout tongue of fred roach is more interesting
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
dogz:  pacman will gobble the hitman inside 3 rounds
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
SoleAmazing:  Epic fight right here. I just see Pacquiao in the first/second round picking his shots . Straight left jab down the pipe, side stepping to the right and just keeps breaking down Hatton from then on. Turning him, turning him. All that Pacquiao really needs to do. Hatton slugs and swings, and likes to wrestle a lot. But i dont think he'll be able to catch Pacquiao. Manny has twice the footwork and lower body strength than Pretty Boy, decent speed compared to Floyd's, good and maybe even better strength, and WAY more aggressive than Mayweather. And what happened? Hatton got hit witha clean shot to the jaw and hit the canvas. Have you not seen Pacquiao's calves? He can do real damage to Ricky. And for those who worry about Hatton's body blows, Pacquiao in training takes shots from bamboo sticks to the abdomen everyday, part of his preperation. Speed, footwork, aggressiveness yet intelligent boxing. Pacquiao late stoppage in the 10th.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Real Talk:  A DonPuto69 . I just watched Trinidad vs Vargas on Youtube last night !!! Classic battle , both fighters had heart . Good googley moogley Tito's left hook !!! He did hit Vargas low twice after Vargas dropped him with the vicious straight right /left hook combo . Vargas got his low blows in at the later rounds too though (Ipeeped that) . Man that hook in the first round...did you hear how it sounded ?!?! I'm in agreement Pacquiao could outbox Hatton , but I don't see him stopping Hatton unless it's TKO cuts . I also had a vision of Hatton catching Manny with a close range right hook that hurt him bad . I'm saying don't sleep on Hatton cuz he's got some crunch in his punch....Dueces
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
NHEL35:  big win for pound for pound king manny paquiao...for me 8 to 9 rounds knockout win for manny... very easy to fight in terms of speed power and strategy lot of experience coming from manny... hatton is not dangerous to fight...so manny your a big win.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
word is.......:  BOB ARUM IS GONNA TRY HARD TO GET THIS ON NETWORK TV!!!! HE SAID DONT EXPECT THIS TO BE PPV, THIS IS CERTAINLY PPV QUALITY ACTION PACKED FIGHT AND IF A SOLID UNDERCARD IS PUT TOGETHER ALL THE MORE SO, REGARDLESS THIS IS A 1 MILL PPV BUY OR MORE TYPE FIGHT IF IT GETS ON ABC OR NBC THERE WILL BE A BOXING BOOM IN 09 CAUSE THE RATINGS WILL BE THREW THE ROOF!!!! LONG LIVE THE SWEET SCIENCE
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Zeus:  I recall Mayweather Sr. saying Hatton's gonna knock Pacquiao's socks off. Now, they are singing a different tune after witnessing the one-sided demolition Pacquiao gave to Dela Hoya. Mayweather Sr. is no longer that confident that an easy bout awaits his ward. After Hatton, let's line them up.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Anonymous user:  its going to be a hard fight for both boxer..ill go with pac in late round
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Kamote:  This will be a very exiciting fight. Two top P4P boxers going toe to toe. It will be tough to call for manny since the hitman hasn't been beaten at 140lbs. I just wish he can again replicate what he did to DD and ODLH speed kills for sure!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
charles:  I think after The PACMAN stop HATTON, many still say that this is NOT the Fighter the we know... like what they said to other fighter that manny beat.. One thing is for sure HATTON face can easily ballooned, like DAVID DIAZ. so i believe it is more like PACMAN vs DIAZ.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
nes2:  Finally, this could the the fight that would convince the whole boxing world that Pacman is the man! But it would be a hard fight for both of them. I pick Pacman Express to bulldoze the brit!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
the cult:  THE PACMAN IN AN EARLY KNOCKOUT OF THE HITMAN...BELIIEVE MEE...THE PAC WILL JUST CIRCLES AROUND HATTON..BECOZ HES SOI QUICK AND HAS AN EXCELLENT FOOTWORK NOWADAYS........no disrespect for the hitman but...this is the way it is.....to the mind of boxing fanatics ALL OVER THE WORLD..
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
nes2:  Finally, this could the the fight that would convince the whole boxing world that Pacman is the man! But it would be a hard fight for both of them. I pick Pacman Express to bulldoze the brit!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
pacmanfan:  i think it's gonna be a see saw battle in the early rds. then in the middle rds pacman gonna step it up another level leaving the hitman cut and swell up. 11th rd tko for pacman!
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
The Director:  In my humble opinion the good title for this bout is...."Battle for Kingship".....as Manny will be bitting his P4P Kingship and while Hatton will be bitting for his Junior Welterweight belt on the time of their clush on May 2nd.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
giusseppe:  lostboy/johnny, i'd disagre with the suggestion. it sounds too sissy. I'd rather pick "WAR OF THE NATIONS"... more like warcraft.. hehe! But it sounds more manly than flag bearers.. :) Pls hype this as "WAR OF THE NATIONS" Im very excited to watch this fight!

jburs:  Call this fight "When Two Worlds Collide". A fight not only between two(Manny and Rcky) but also for each boxer's world(Philippines and England).
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
The Director:  In my humble opinion the good title for this bout is ..... "The Supremacy"
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
giusseppe:  lostboy/johnny, i'd disagre with the suggestion. it sounds too sissy. I'd rather pick "WAR OF THE NATIONS"... more like warcraft.. hehe! But it sounds more manly than flag bearers.. :) Pls hype this as "WAR OF THE NATIONS" Im very excited to watch this fight!

dan:  pacman is so fast..he makes a fast man look not so fast that people might think they grow old overnight and past their primes.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Kat_si:  having watched the latest fights of hatton and pacman, i'd go with the Pacman..but no disrespect to Hatton, who has improved a lot and is very dangerous too, but Pacman is really fast.. speed kills again.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
mjr:  guys we notice the figth of ricky and paulie is not so tough, because the rigth hand of paulie is not used too must,, you see when he hit hotton once on rigth,, hotton get hurt..may weather style is commonly pacman has..and pacman eventualy had the power..we just hope that the chin of hotton is very hard toeat all power puch of manny,,,
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Donie:  Why not, "THOU SHALT NOT BLINK" since they are both fast and strong puncher. or perhaps, "BLOOD MATCH".

Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
art:  like manny said:"only god knows the outcome but i will do my best in the ring". this is how good pacquiao is, inside and outside the ring he always refused to predict the fight, to be called the mexicutioner and to thrash talk with his opponent. pacquiao is a crowd pleaser by his fighting style. he fights with bigheart and he acts like a roaring lion. pacquiao is a true humble champion, from the 106 lbs to 147 lbs and win 5 different world title in 5 different weight division. critizise helps pacquiao to motivate, his will to win increase every fight and he thanks for the people who don't believe in him and just saying: "god thank you for all the blessings that i have"
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
Moron expert:  i agree to the other dat said it was just lyk diaz vs. pac, hatton nd diaz i think they have same style,so pac won by tko... lol... Oops dis opinion is only 4 mine nt so hard plz...Nd check my name too...Lolol :)
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
dhoods:  Hatton is a perfect match for Pacquiao, just like a big version of david diaz.....In my own opinion hatton will suffer same as what happened to david diaz....a 9th rd TKO fo pacman...The signature body shot of Hatton will not be effective coz of excellent footwork of pacman.
Tuesday Jan 6, 2009
jun:  I think the good name for this fight is "BATTLE OF THE CONTINENT",

mark:  Why is Ricky Hatton is not the IBF title holder that he won against Paulie Mallignagi and Paulie at that time is the IBF junior welterweight champion?

got_beef:  This is crap...I rather see.. Pacquiao against mayweather
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
#1 Pacfan "Express":  Here's my prediction round by round: Round one is always usually the feel out round so we'll see a slow but improving in the last minute. Round two is the most entertaining round as we see Hatton trying to dig to the body while Pacquiao is countering very well with the right hook(the money punch in this fight) and trading shots in the middle of the ring. Round 1,2 went to Hatton because more punches and the aggressor. Round 3 Hatton still in the same gameplan trying to push Manny backwards, but Pacquiao a much more improved boxer is bobbing and weaving around Hattons' punches and picking off Hatton like workers in the strawberry field; I gave that to Pacquiao. Round 4 May Sr. tells Hatton to keep pressure on him cause he can't fight when backpedaling. Hatton is pressing but gotten away from body punching and Manny is doing some work to the body of his own. Hatton clinching as always when receiving punishment but Manny aint havin that and pushes Hatton off; that was a close round but gave it to Manny for landing the better punches. Round 5 May Sr. is furrious at Hatton and tells him, "what's wrong with you son?" Hatton starts off trying to box and clearly you can hear May Sr. yelling out, NO! Here's comes Manny becoming aggressive sensing his opponent has become prey intead of the predator he wanted to be and change his gameplan. Manny coming forward with straight lefts and marking up Hattons nose.(That straight left is a "Nose Breaker") no contest in that round. Round six Roach tells Manny go hook to the body and straight on top and Manny always great at instructions hookin to the body and left on top. Round seven Hatton looking fatigue while May Sr. trying to encourage to keep fighting and well get him in the late rounds. Manny starts off slow this round using his improved boxing skills ring generalship and picking Hatton off with the lead left. I gave it to Pacman. Round 8 May senior tells Hatton to do more we're behind in points. Hatton looking to land a damaging blow to turn the fight around, but instead gets caught with a vicious left that stunned Hatton. With 30 seconds remaining in the round Manny carefully goes for the kill with Hatton in the ropes trying to avoid punches and survives the round by still a bit groggy going into the corner. Round nine Roach tells Manny okay let's take him out go faint him and straight left if it's there. Manny catches Hatton with the Manila Ice punch which is the right hook and staggers him and takes him down with the straight left to finish him off. Ladies and Gentleman let's give a round of applaus to these two great warrior in classic battle. With 1.50 sec. in the ninth round a winner by KO and NEW JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAOOOOOO. You heard it here first folks Manny by KO in the ninth round.

kramiczzz:  Most of them say " the Pacpacbatman will go down at this time" well, let's respect their opinion, but Im very confident that the Pacpacbatman will rule again and bring curse to those gamblers, bcoz they lack of faith.

1pacman:  I will teach Hatton a boxing lesson.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
kramiczzz:  In Phil, they have a myth about Pacquiao, and in that myth lies a deep secret of his strength and courage.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
#1 Pacfan P4P "Express":  Hey Puto how can u say that Cotto-Margarito was a classic more like a slaughterfiesta for mexicans. Entertaining it was but mainly for Marg fans I don't see Cotto coming back the same fighter but see a much weaker and tentative figther now. Well see in his next fight but i doubt any comeback from him. He's after little guys now, rumor is Cotto wants Pacquiao. Manny will shut him out for sure that's my opinion.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Mikee's World:  ... the best title for this classic fight ..... i suggest it should be "MAN TO MAN : Battle of Nation's Pride"!!! Any comment???
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
#1 Pacfan P4P "Express":  Rudy relax...Excuse me if i upsetted you. Everybody has got to make their money right? I make mine by betting on Manny, his fights have been good to me.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
reynan:  I think the title would be suited as the "Battlefield". Pacs array of style nowadays will enough for the hitman to find it difficult to stop the former, though the brit boost with punching power, I'll go for the current P4P by late stoppage.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
gil:  the pacman will gobble fatton, manny by ko on 10th.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
zdrx:  both the brits and the flips are proud patriotic island people, and fanatical too. so the good title for this fight is FOR FLAG AND COUNTRY. but if you want to include the two races this two fighters represents---asians and europeans---then CLASH OF THE CONTINENTS is also a good title... or as a subtitle
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
oskar:  "Fists of Nation" should be appropriate due to both fighters have their own respective following.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Mikee's World:  pacMAN to hitMAN.... my golden fists will crumble your crown to dust...
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
jmrx7009:  The hitman is good but not great. He isn't even on the top 10 p4p list according to most ppl. He's lost to the former p4p and will lose again to the current. Hitman's just a stepping stone to mayweather.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
TOMMY R:  this is a great fight and at the perfect time as there both coming off great performances, lot of people picking pacman and i wont totally disagree at all but keep this in mind, hatton is by farrrrrrrrrrrr the strongest and hardest puncher than pac will have faced, ricky is a real phycical guy and that left hook to the liver is the single most devastating punch in the game, he is also decisevely quick, he has very fast feet and closes distance quickly and on angles, at his best hatton is a moster, he was improving w each fight until finally destroying kyszu in what was my opionion 1 of the best performances i have ever seen from a fighter, make no mistake kyszu was a p4p guy 1 loss and on his game but hatton was an animal that night and took the man aparttttttttt, he had 1 good performance in his next fight against maussa and then it was all down hill from there in his next fights against collazo and urango were he became complacent much the way a young tyson did in his last few wins prior to the douglas loss and was winning on brute streghth and not the skills that got him there- after his 1 shot ko over castillio i thought he gave floyd a hell of a fight , for those of u that have a copy watch it again cause it was a good and exciting fight and floyd like he always does took over after the 6th and picked hatton apart, hatton never gave in and went out on his shield like the warrior that he is trying to score a ko against the best fighter of the last who knows how manhy years, his next fight against lazcano was not impressive again, he dominated and threw a ton of punches yes but did not show much in the way of the skill that got him to the top, new trainer, new outlook, new dedication and he looked great against paulie doing all the things that he use to do, constant pressure w headmovement behind his jab, quick cuts to the left n right w his angles, no more 1 punch and a time and almost no holding so on, if paulie caught the complacent hatton that we all saw the last few fight he prob could have pulled it off and thats what people were use to seeing and why many picked paulie to win but he caught the hungry hatton of old and that was w only 6 weeks of mayweather sr. teachings, im not saying he wins cause pacman is a monsterrrrrrrrrrrrrr and his legacy already cemented and well deserved but hatton is gonna give him hell on earth, im really looking foward to a great fight and exciting night of boxing, may the best man win
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
ben kisla:  this is one fight that will sell, Pacman vs. Hitman. I would go for Pacman because of his consistency and activity in the ring. He's still the man to beat. Hatton will be cautious and calculating come fight night. But if this strategy will not work he will go back to his old ways of come-forward and will pay the price for being careless. I see a see-saw battle between the two warriors but Pacman will be at the upperhand until the last round and we might see KD's in mid rounds. Pacman via 11 round KO or UD.

Alexandr Rommel Espiritu:  He who has the better adjustment, preparation and higher qoutient in his biorhythm cycles (intellectual, emotional, phsyical) come fight day, will certainly have the edge to win. I will have to reserve my pick until they will wind up their training.

lostboy:  to GIUSSEPPE!!!!! the tittle the you suggested is great. if the third or fourth world war is comming.you are a bit exaggerated.its only manny and ricky will fight not the nation!!!! HELLER!!

Mikee's World:  huhuhu... mr floyd jones dgreatest.... what are you talking about? pacman at 50???? my gosh.... what r u thinking man??? go back to your mama, and tell her who's #1 P4P... OK? Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
humbled fan:  i see this fight ending early. observe how ricky was slow to dock paulie's jabs in the 1st round. i really thought ricky had good head movement. but after seeing his fight with paulie made me believe he's actually easy to hit. pac by 6.

SwordsmanJex:  This is a fight that will mark the boom in boxing. This have a worldwide attention since the protagonists come from different continents outside the Americas.. Good match-up and good names in it. Hatton will quit before the 10th round...and NEW LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT CHAMP OF THE WORLD, MANNY PACMAN PACQUIAO!!!

Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
steadadelica:  Wembley is in North West London, Hatton is from Manchester, completely different cities? Although, less pedanticly it would be home country advantage if it took place there. however the stadium holds 90,000 for football so don't see why they would limit the gate to 50,000? You all might have guessed that I'm well up for it taking place there and don't see why (apart from the money!!) America cant wait up late for once, we have to do it all the time for big fights. could they hold it on a weekend in the early evening, say around 20:00 London time making it around 15:00 NY time and 12:00 in LA? or would this just not work? And why not the in Philippines? but wherever it occurs i think pacman will get the nod UD. i think some of the people on here need to give Hatton and his new trainer more credit, its going to be close. Mayweather knock hatton out accumulatively after Ricky had punched him self out, i honestly don't think he'll make that mistake again, if he does, then he should quit.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
echobox:  This is a very physical fight!!! Hatton is a fearless and powerful fighter and keeps on coming. If the ring's area is 4 sqm, it is Hatton but it's not. Pacquiao will use his footwork ability to dance and hit the hitman. Definitely a KO fight.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
gibola:  First thoughts aren't always accurate but I say if Hatton can land punches with any regularity - he will stop the Pacman in 5-7 rounds. People are getting too carried away with David Diaz and ODLH results. Hatton would have beaten both of those guys too. Hatton - too big, too strong - knocks Manny out with a bodypunch inside 8 rounds. It's a helluva match-up - just what boxing needs!
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
cypherfunk:  two excellent fighter's collide is a very good match-up for the 2nd quarter of 2009, i'll go for pacman KO late @ round.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
novzki:  big event.. nonetheless, this is a very hard pick 'em fight! FLOYD DID NOT BEAT HATTON because that was at 147.. pacquiao is fighting the best hatton out there at 140... my prediction? pacquiao has conquered a lot of divisions.. its time he makes his mark on 140... hatton is strong and relentless.. but i doubt his CHIN... his style is tailor made for pacquiao
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
boxing08nut:  whew can't wait for this rumble!!
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Anony:  :: YES THIS A BIG FIGHT AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO PICK A WINNER :: I have never understand why Hatton lost to "trash mouth" fadeweather. I guess he got desperate and forgot about Floyd's quickness or maybe got overconfident. He truly deserves a rematch. But that was then and this is now.... He and Pacquiao are very similar in style.. they both like to come out first and explode like two war machines so... in one of those exchanges definetly one of them will crash to the canvas... so this fight is hard to predict but I feel it will be end by a knockout from either side. For this one I won't mind paying Pay-per-view cause it is worth of every penny cause is an even fight with two real gladiators who are in their prime. No funny bluffy oldy faky fight.. this is boxing at its best!!! Later on I will make my prediction...
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
cris barbadillo:  i think the most appropriate title for this fight is #1pacfanp4p Express vs. rudy
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Bryan:  a good title for this match is "PRIDE and HONOR" pride of their country and honor for the country whoever wins.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
joshua:  bout of them are certified true warriors ! but the main thing is... who will win the fight? hatton can only win by a lucky punch! mark my words! if this fight will go upto 12 rounds..sure pacquiao will win by unanimous decision the key is the tandem of pacquiao and roach! they really respect each other. remember last fight against dela hoya pacquiao showed not only his power but also his discipline. his obedience on the gameplan will be the main factor of this fight.. just imagine how many solid punches they will throw to each other?its really amazing fight.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
isidro:  If everything goes well,Pacuiao vs Hatton will be the "The battle of the great impacters" .Manny 's statistics tells a lot of very powerful impacts, pockmarked on the face of boxing planet.Hatton is like a "drunken master" of boxing leaving devastation to the surrounding enemies of sort ,thus legendary in boxing war.we have a winner come May 2,2009 gentlemean.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
8==D:  this should be the title of their fight: Men of War 1...Hitman Vs Pacman...Last Man Standing... can't wait for this!!! Pacman by tko late...
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
AKA OTSO:  hatton is a has a power i agree. but has no chance at all with THE PACMAN.he fights with hes county in hes shoulder and most of all he believes in GOD indeed. thats the reason why he keeps winnin. GO PAQUIAO
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Pacman:  This fight excites me. I guarantee everyone's enjoyment. I dedicate this fight to Queen Elizabeth. I will do my best.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Dubbo:  I will name this fight as "Pac or Hit: The Man @ 140."
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
nostrad2007:  it will be the "COLLOSION OF WARRIORS" or vice versa...the best there is...heavy attacker vs. king of P4P and PPV...one of the very best in boxing 2009...there is blood coming out of both fighters......who will be the last man standing?.....it's unpredictable at this moment until it steps in the ring....hooolllaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bulldog 'Torn to decide by 2 favourite fighters'.:  Had Manny not been fightin Hatton i would have been shoutin for him all the way but alas.....it isnt meant to be. Manny has shown his quality time and time again. His last 3 fights have been great, JMM, Diaz, ODH, Hattons form is questioned time and time again, he looked good against Mallignaggi and previously pre Mayweather he had dipped but not enough for me to believe he is washed up, simply the trainer couldnt deliver any further combined with poor conditionin on Hattons part. Manny is full of confidence and doesnt shy away from anyone, delivers non stop action like a mini gattlin gun, i never saw his 2 losses but am suprised that it was against mediocre opposition but it was some time ago. JMM 1 was spectacular and for me Manny lost that fight but it was close enough that the decision shouldnt be grumbled at. Although it is hard to pick any fault at Manny i think the opposition in his last 2 still leaves questions as to how good he is above 130. Diaz would never have beaten Manny, Nate Campbell would have been a better opposition (not sure if that match had been attempted), and the ODH fight didnt really show much, ODH was considered to be way too big but hadnt fought competitively for over 5 years at Welter, still such was the hype i bought into thinkin ODH would pinch the decision, i didnt expect a punch bag on legs previously known as the golden boy to step in the ring as didnt the majority of pundits. Manny did the job he set out to do regardless and without fault, looked sharp and fast but never the power to knock over the punchbag. ODH would have lost that night to anyone of the 140 champions, i would even think JMM would have done similar. Manny V Hatton will answer most questions for either fighter on their credibility. I believe their styles are very similar, speed edged by Manny, strength by Hatton with neither attribute one sided. I believe this is a real test for Manny with Hatton been a genuine 140lb legit champ of the whole division, not a number champion as was Diaz nor a weight drained dehydrated part time exchamp as was DeLa Hoya. Hatton if showing form as he did against Mallignaggi will be too strong for Manny but it will be close........although i cant see it happening should Hatton lose i wouldnt want it to be against any other fighter than the Pacman.

JM DLCruz:  I dlike to name this fight, "The Battle for the Seven Seas"
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
fizz7777:  Ricky is at his strongest at light welter, and very hard to beat at his best weight. I expect him to give a good account of himself before finally wilting towards the end of the fight for a UD or TKO in the pacman's favor. But I think it'll be much closer than people think, with Hatton spoiling and hooking successfully in the opening rounds, and pacqiao coming on strong from the mid rounds. Expect some fireworks and (quite) a competitive fight, although I'm rooting for the Hitman, as he's very underrated in the US.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
fizz7777:  I'd name this fight 'Who's The Man?' - Hitman or Pacman. Kinda lame, but it's all I could think of.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
JM DLCruz:  I dlike to name this fight, "The Battle for the Seven Seas"
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
andy from newcastle:  INSANE NUMBER OF COMMENTS. Fizz7777, not lame at all. "Who's the Man?". Nuff said. Won't even begin to make a prediction on this one till the end of round 1. Toonoy

Bulldog 'Torn to decide by 2 favourite fighters'.:  'The Humble Rumble' - Both Manny and Hatton are without doubt the most humble fighters of this era. Almost hard to believe the pair also demonstrate some of the most aggressive fighting styles in the ring. Both are winners despite their having to be a loser, this fight doesnt need hype. These two 10st warriors are doing their part to emerge boxing from its minor depression. Who dares to say Boxing match ups arent as exciting as the UFCs!!!!!!
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Radam G be Humble PRG from Manila, PI w/poetic love:  Maybe this bout needs some hype, because it will be one easy night for the PAC -- Team, Nation, Family and Posse. I'll give Ricky a lot of credit for hiring Pops Joy May. Because of PJM, Ricky is a better fighter. Nonetheless, PacMan has too much speed and power for "Tricky Ricky." For both pugilists, this bout is going to be moola Fatton. Somebody is going to get flatten. And that Somebody will be RICKY HATTON. PJM is gonna be spitting his poems, and I'm gonna spit one or two because I do what I do. The haters are gonna be up to that hatin' again. But it won't matter because Ricky will fall like a sack of bricks in round 10. (That is if he does what PJM instruct him to do. Otherwise, it is going to be "Goodnight, Sweet Prince, in round five. And that is no jive.) Holla!
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Anony:  :::::::: TO ALL BELOVED PINOYS HERE, SPECIALLY "S"ADAM G :::::::: Don't start overreacting just yet. Ricky Hatton is hurt like an animal... his only loss to Mayweather got him hungrier... he wants Floyd more than anything... DO PACMAN WANTS A PIECE OF FLOYD MORE THAN RICKY HATTON??? I seriously doubt that. So the HEART factor goes to Hatton... and that goes a long way. Truly this fight will be a war like no other. What a difference it makes from Pac vs. DLH... That truly turned me down.
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009

A trench too far:  The thrilla from manila got a fortune cookie win and draw over JMM. Fought 2 crash test dummys Diaz n Oscar sesame street garbage man golden grouch, the manila thrilla needs to eat some vanilla to leave a sweet taste in his mouth.. the Fatton Batton is killa o manila thrilla. Mexicutiona only just..Mancutiona not a chance pal !!...JMM rocked manila thrilla..Fatton Batton bashes manila thrilla n his pinoy rice lurve train to a halt in 8!!
Wednesday Jan 7, 2009
Robert Curtis:  Pacfan's may be jumping the gun if they think Manny can steamroll Ricky. The good time train may just grind to a halt at a stop named Hatton. This is actually Pacquiao's first REAL test in a higher weight division. The Oscar he fought was shot, starved and wrung out like an old dishrag. Diaz was a dull plugger and the weakest belt-holder available. Manny may get the win, but he'll earn it.

ganiRENDS:  HATTON'S ABILITY IS TO FAR FROM PAC'S TALENT. PAC HAS'NT MET A TRUE MATCH YET, HATTON'S PURELY NOTHING FOR HIM. LOOK, SPEED, POWER, STRATEGY, DURABILITY, ENDURANCE, AND HEART AND SO ON, YOU NAME IT..HONESTLY, PAC HAS IT ALL.. HATTON WILL BE DEMOLISHED WITHIN 6TH..PERIOD

ganiRENDS:  Hatton's loss to Pac would even be far from Hatton's loss to MayJR...Look, it would be like the result of DLH's fight, werein PAC give DLH a technical knockout @ 7th vs MayJR. just won by a decision after the fight..big difference. That's the reason why I figure out that 6th would be Hatton's limit..I'm not considering all the excuses of DLH'S loss..DLH'S, Dela HOYA..REMEMBER THIS, IT'S PACMAN'S ABILITY THAT MAKES HIM LIKE WORTHLESS..not the innocent KANGAROO.

JAMISON:  I think Pacman wins this one. Let me explain why. Everybody talks about Ricky's body shots as the bread and butter of his tactics and that he'll use them against Manny to wear him down. First off, Manny will know this and will be prepared to STICK AND MOVE like he did against de la hoya. Ricky's never fought anybody as fast as Manny, not even mayweather in my opinion is as fast as manny with his hands or combinations. Its Mayweather's slick style, unreadable counter-punching and defense that allow him to pop shots at fighters like ricky at will with his exceptional quickness. But ricky was also able to hit mayweather with those body shots because Mayweather is a passive fighter that likes to roll on the ropes and let you make a mistake, all the while he takes some body shots in the process. Manny will have NONE OF IT. Manny will be in there guns blazing, with great defense coming from his gloves, his footwork, his head movement, upper body movement, and his stinging right hand along with his deadly left hand. I looked at Manny's punches in his dream match, and they are SOLID. At 140 i predict he will have some serious pop in them, just as if he were a natural 140 pounder. Just like Larry merchant said "manny punches without hesitation, as if hes going for it." He drives his fist into his opponent with blinding speed. and when hes properly conditioned he doesn't get tired of doing that either. Not saying Ricky doesn't have a chance, but my money at the moment is on my main Megamanny. I like Ricky's style, aggressive, and gritty and rough. But manny has carved himself out to be more technical as of lately. Especially after boosting his level of training and technique after the dream match training camp.

Radam G aka Humble PRG____:  Ricky is always coming down from 200 lbs. He will get cut up, beat down and knocked out in easy fashion after PacMan beat the sand out of him. Ricky falls in five if he doesn't listen to Pops Joy May. If he follow the game plan of Joy May, he goes until the 10th. Holla!

Yuvie:  I am really starting to believe that Pac is looking past Hatton and under-rating him. More and more I feel like we're in for a shock.

leicester:  "Jamming 50,000 people in wembley stadium", there's more than 90,000 seats in the stands without the pitch area and that is130metres by 80metres, so wembley would hold nearer to 120,000 people at an average of £150 a head, that's why ricky was prepared to fight at 4.00am. I will enjoy vegas more even if the beer would taste like beer wembley! COME ON FATTON!

steadadelica:  Leicester; I make that an £18,000,000 gate, that must be a record breaker? however, don't know if they would use the gods so we could expect a diminished attendance, but even half that is still 60,000 ppl / £9,000,000 - imagine the atmosphere, it would make it the fight of the century, even at four in the morning!

leicester:  There's absolutely no question that ricky hatton would fill any stadium in britain at any time of the year, that may be hard to believe for anybody who doesn't understand his standing here, but it is a cult thing. It's not even about how good he is, it's the way he fights, there's something in the british psyche that loves that bulldog spirit and ricky as a man who swears, drinks and laughs is one of us. In the same way that JC Chavez stands for everything mexican, and he put 135,000 people in the azteca stadium for a fight he couldn't lose. Ricky has the equivalent of a football following and that is almost religious and fanatical and it doesn't diminish even when he loses, ricky understands this and if you listen carefully before his entrance song, blue moon(his football clubs anthem), a speach from winston churchill is played "we'll fight them in the fields, we'll them in the streets, we'll fight them on the beaches". So i hope every body understands this is no ordinary fighter, Calzaghe is a far superior boxer than hatton and has good support, but not in the same league. I am no Ricky Hatton worshipper and this is not just my opinion this is fact, and he'll probably lose bravely to Pacquiao, but there will still be between 20,000 and 30,000 people travelling across the atlantic during the "credit crunch" and after the fight the casinos will be full of laughter not tears, win, lose or draw. Ricky Hatton is a modern day phenomenon in the uk and thankfully boxing has never been stronger here!

arbee:  You can't feed a bull if it's full. Manny just received his millions few days ago so what's in a rush to sign that Hatton fight? He already agreed to fight Hatton but the 50-50 take just seem not right for his status right now. The technique of Hatton's lawyers meant to intimidate MPACMAN. Why should he be intimidated he's not even a Brit. You can't force MPacman to accept your term with that arm-twisting strategy. They need to agree on his term (60-40) and try to split the PPV 50-50 and other revenues that can be earned on that fight. They crowned him P4P KING and they treat him like their slave to listen to their demands. If you do that to the Queen of England you'll either face the bars or the gallows for contempt. They can't even compare the population of England to the PPV followers of MPACMAN worldwide. Try to sell Hatton to the Asians alone and they'll stare at you and ask 'who's he?'. They know Gen. PATTON but not Hatton.

arbee:  Much had been said on MPACMAN's lost to Torrecampo and SIngsurat. But all that was been said about was as if he was the same Manny that he was since after 2001. Manny then was starving, skinny, young and poor 17 years old boxer who climbed that ring and was KOd by Torrecampo, He was deprived of sleep, no proper place to live in, parental care, education, proper managers to coach him, vitamins and food to be competitive. Same as the Singsurat bout, he starved for days to make the weight to earn. It is better than forfeiting the fight and literally starve to death without gaining anything. But the MPACMAN now is not starving to death. He's having his king's meal everyday with all the necessities in life at his finger tip. He can go anywhere to train. He can hire the best trainers, managers, and thinkers to do many things for him. He can hire platoons of Hattons, Barreras, Marquezes, Margaritos-like spar mates to train with him. And now, it's definitely tons of difference compared when he dueled those Torrecampo and singsurat 13 years ago. He is not climbing the ring as the deprived boxer 13 years ago but P4P king with the toughest conditioned chin.

arbee:  HATTON'S jaw IS HIS WEAKEST. His Achilles heels. Mayweather just exposed that weakness during that 10th round KO. When he gave Hatton a half-hearted short LEFT jab at the JAW and he fell. It's not even his power punch. It was a SHORT LEFT JAB. That will be his problem all night on his coming fight with MPACMAN. Basically, the average power punches of MPACMAN per bout ranges from 300 to 600 punches and 60 to 70 percent of those came from his POWER LEFT. He just need one of those to break that glass jaw of Hatton to bring the HITMAN to dreamland. Mayweather (and all of Hatton's past opponents)gave him a lot of power straight punches and he was just as tough as a bull still raging forward. But when that SHORT LEFT JAB CAME hitting his right jaw, he was simply overwhelmed. THE KEY FOR A QUICK Knock out is simply a SHORT LEFT CROSS to the right jaw. And HATTON and his trainer's problem is, and it is really unfortunate for them, MPACMAN not only throws a short left jab but a speedy blinding LEFT fullhouse, straight and cross, punches that will never stop right from round 1. MPACMAN by KO within 5 rounds. REMEMBER THIS PREDICTION from ARBEE.

arbee:  Hatton will know on fight night why PACMAN's opponents keep on missing on their defenses that blinding-fast left crosses and straights. MPacman will have tons of those for Hatton's right jaw. The one that Floyd jr. luckily hit by chance when he was so tired trying to just finish the round against Hatton. It was just a short left cross that hit Hatton's right jaw. . Floyd was so surprised to see Hatton on the deck with that short-left cross and was not even his trademark power punch and he was surprised first-then ecstatic. So, PACMAN will just follow the same route to show it again that it's indeed a glass jaw. MPACMAN, a lefthander, is a SLEDGEHAMMER on a JACKHAMMER mode. That left will just find its mark soon on the early rounds. MPACMAN by KO inside 5 rounds.

"It Takes A Special Man"
"It takes a special man to lace them on and step into a ring to either hurt or be hurt. It's always been my opinion that the greatest fighters (not necessarily the most commercially successful) are probably born with that never give up until I'm completely done attitude. It can be nurtured over time, but you either have it or you don't. When adversity hits, and it will, this instinct will allow you to reach inside for additional strength and determination. Ali, Louis, Gatti, Corrales had it....Marquez and Pacquiao have it. De La Hoya, for all the great things he did as a boxer never had it, Tyson didn't have It, Cotto doesn't have it, and as much as I hate to admit it because I loved to watch him fight, Chavez didn't have it. 99.9% of us don't have it either. That's why we're not all fighters and we can sit here and judge these courageous men from the comfort of our computers." ---TSS reader Juan Montelongo offers his take on the Victor Ortiz debate
