Sam Peter To Meet Vitali (Fingers Crossed)
New York, May 9—Dino Duva, president of Duva Boxing and promoter of World Boxing Council Heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter, announced today that an agreement has been reached with K2 Promotions for the “Nigerian Nightmare’ to defend his title against former champion Vitali Klitschko, thus avoiding a purse bid.
The two sides reached an accord at meetings in Mexico City yesterday, and the WBC world title clash will take place sometime this fall, with date, site and television to be determined in the near future.
“The deal was made at the 11th hour, and we are delighted,” said Duva. “Instead of going to the WBC offices for a purse bid and uncertain future, we instead were able to reach the agreement and announce it in front of the wonderful Mexican media and fans.
“We’re ecstatic,” added Duva. “It’s the best possible deal for all concerned – the fighters, promoters, and most importantly the fans.”
The WBC Heavyweight title tilt will be a co-promotion between Duva Boxing and K2 Promotions, with Duva serving as lead promoter.
“It was a long and complicated negotiation,” said Duva. “I want to sincerely thank all of the key parties – my partner Don King, Sam’s manager Ivaylo Gotzev, Vitali Klitschko, his advisor Shelly Finkel and promoter Tom Loeffler
"Last but not least, I must thank WBC President Jose Sulaiman, who, along with his son Mauricio, was determined to get all parties to the table and make a deal for this great fight,” wrapped up Duva. “Without their support and understanding, this never would have happened.
As part of the agreement, Peter is free to fight in an interim bout by July, which is being worked on feverishly, according to Duva.

You know Vitali will postpone this at least a couple times due to 'injuries'...hell, these two will never meet in the ring.

The WBC's ass-kissing of Vitali is embarassing. When has a sanctioning body ever favored a guy to this extent?

Hmm.....who cares? Vitali hasnt fought since 2004!!! Make Wlad-Peter II or Wlad vs David Haye...that would actually get my attention to the land of the giant punching sloths!

Who wants to see a baloon-butt heavy and an injured-prone one. Let Sam Peters go to get an appointment with Richard Simmons and Vitali Klitschko go to get an appointment with the fight doctor Perchecko (name misspelled), who use to work with Muhammad Ali. Holla!

Who cares? No one wants to see this fight. Get Haye in there, see what he can do with Sam Peter.

Haye is a true-size heavy, like back in the day. Get rip of this pseudodivision of crusierweight. Haye will haymaker those fat-butts-and-china-chin-and-lazy-azz heavyweights. I hope the lad brings honor back to the-baddest-man-on-the-planet division. Holla!

Right on Doug. Peter could take anything they threw at him, the biggest difference, they can't. Vlad won't last past 6 and Haye won't pass 5.

Why is he fighting Vitali and not Vladimir? Maybe next year. I cant wait to see what Haye can do.

Vladimir would take Peter out in a second fight. Peter's chin is starting to crack. Yeah, he'll get through the old boy but I guy like Haye could have him out with punch. Vlad would also if they were to ever fight again.

Peter's the only guy I give half a s*&t about wathcing. He's the ONLY heavy who fights angry, the rest are merely sparring. Vitali and Wald are nerds, dorks, geeks and totally uninteresting.
Anyone catch Devin Vargas Friday? This guy was captain of an olympic boxing team? More like captain of a Krispy Creme night crew.

Vitali does not need a tune up after not being in the ring for four years. I guess this is the sanctioning bodies fault for letting a fight happen that should not. I doubt Vitali will be healthy enough in his comeback attempt to take on Peter.

When has a sanctioning body NOT favoured guys for mysterious reasons? It was the same favouritsm that allowed a drug positive, title stripped Toney to cut in front of Maskaev to get a shot at Rahman....and cry in true Toney fashion that he wanted a 50% split. Then cut in front of Peter to get a shot at Maskaev.. a shot he blew by losing to Peter twice..the second time because the same sanctioning body deemed the first loss too close. Peter has to wait over a year due to this tomfoolery.
If they can kiss Toney's behind, they can kiss Vitali's too.
All these Peters, and Hayes can talk all they want, the simple fact is, Wlad is the best heavy there is now, and you got to prove otherwise...not by talking brain dead rubbish but by winning.

Honestly, I do not understand why people are not excited about the future of Sam Peter. He is still young, unlike almost everyone else in the division who is 30+. He has exciting fights do to the fact that someone is getting at least floored once, unlike almost everyone else in the division. And he has a crazy accent which he uses to full effect by answering interview questions with completely unrelated answers, unlike everyone else in the division who try to kiss up to the boxing media in their efforts to be the true heavyweight champ.
Sure Peter lost to Wlad, but in retrospect, that was his first fight against another real contender, and he did knock down Wlad 3 times. Wlad is marketed as some KO guy, but he was the weaker one vs Peter. Since that fight, Peter not only has had more experience with the big event top fights, he has shown he has skill and isn't completely raw power by beating Toney twice, and shown he has desire and great heart by never giving up vs McCline.
Having recently turned 27 with more quality years ahead of him then almost all other top level fighters in division who else has a better chance to be the champion for many years while providing entertaining fights???

Hispanic Causing Panic In Hatton Wonderland
"Look for the Hispanic Causing Panic to do a job on Hatton. He will beat Hatton, but will not get the verdict, unless it is a kayo (or TKO from Hatton suffering from too many cuts). Hatton's body is shot. His skin will split open from cuts. Blowing up to 185 and then dropping down to 140 is not good for a number of years. Hatton should fight at light middle or middle or retire. (The body can handle losing 25 to 30 pounds between bouts. This amount is what boxers call the walk-around weight.) I bet Hatton will consider going up in weight or retiring after this bad performance."
