ROACH: "My Dream For Manny Is Hatton at 140"
By Ron Borges
Manny Pacquiao could have done better. In the end, that’s the bottom line for Freddie Roach.
That’s the way the veteran trainer looked at his fighter’s razor-thin margin of victory over Juan Manuel Marquez two weeks ago. His fighter won a perilously close decision but he could have fought better, which has led Roach to think of only one thing since.
“We want to fight him again,’’ Roach said flatly this week.
Having seen your fighter twice barely escape defeat at the hands of Marquez, most trainers would be moving as far away from the man as possible and staying there for as long as possible. That is the business side of the sport. It’s also exactly why Roach says he wants Pacquiao to meet Marquez again soon.
“Pacquiao and Marquez will meet again and it won’t take four years this time,’’ boxing’s finest young trainer said from his Wild Card Gym in Hollywood during a long conversation about that fight, Pacquiao’s future and the way Roach looks at the sport that has been his life since he was a young boy trying to master a sometimes brutal art form in gyms around New England.
“People criticized us for giving him a rematch because his style makes life difficult for Manny. A lot of people asked me why I wasn’t satisfied with a draw (which is how their first fight ended). I don’t like controversy. I like to win. We looked at that draw like a loss.
“Now they’re asking me why we’re not satisfied with a win. It was too close. A lot of people think Marquez won and rightfully so. It was very close (one point on one card making the difference). It could have gone either way. There’s controversy. I still don’t like controversy.
“If those guys fought 10 times in a row there would be one point between them either way. They’re both such good fighters and they come in such great shape because they know what the other guy’s capable of.
“But Manny is my baby. I want to see him improve. I want to see him fight the best he can and I know he didn’t do that. We made some tactical errors in that fight. Manny moved into his right hand all night. That was something we worked on not doing all camp and we ended up doing it all night. I don’t know if Marquez made that possible or Manny couldn’t see it but I know it’s correctable.
“I thought Manny won by a little bit but a lot of the rounds were hard to score. Marquez deserves the rematch. He’s a great fighter. He had something to do with our problems, which is why we want the rematch. It will be good for boxing.’’
Roach quickly followed that thought up by making clear that Pacquiao had fought his last at 130 pounds however. He will, as expected, move up to 135 to challenge lightweight champion David Diaz later this year, probably in June if the cuts he suffered heal properly, and Roach has his own dream fight in mind for Pacquiao after that doesn’t involve Juan Manuel Marquez. It’s a fight he knows isn’t likely to happen but he can hope, can’t he?
“My dream fight for Manny is with Ricky Hatton at 140,’’ Roach said. “That would be a great fight for Manny. Hatton’s not that big a guy and with their styles it would be all action but Golden Boy (Oscar De La Hoya’s promotional company, which has signed Hatton) already told me they’re going in a different direction with Hatton.
“They told me not to even think about it but if Manny wins the title at 135 it would make a fight with Hatton at 140 legitimate. Boxing purists love Juan Manuel Marquez because he’s so technically sound. Hatton-Pacquiao would be more of a brawl but fans would love it. It would just be for that one fight. We certainly wouldn’t stay at 140, that’s for sure.’’
Instead they would return to the lightweight division and possibly even down to a catch weight of 133, where they know Juan Manuel Marquez will be waiting. More than likely, he won’t have to wait for long.
Although Marquez’s advisors have already begun to lobby for a rubber match, Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, has said a third fight needs to “bake’’ for a while and has told journalists in the Phillipines Pacquiao would have to get between $8-to-$10 million to make the fight.
Considering that he got $5 million for the second fight (to $1.5 million for Marquez) it is a number that seems a bit steep but Roach isn’t concerning himself with such matters. That’s up to Arum and Golden Boy, who represent the two sides, but one thing is for sure. That third fight will happen.
“They’ll negotiate it out,’’ Roach said. “Arum’s got to be realistic. It’s a fight me and Manny want. Nobody likes controversy. We want to settle this. I know Manny can fight a better fight. I don’t think Marquez can.
“The two of them are so competitive I can really put my foot down with Manny and show him why it was so close. It’s so simple to make adjustments but maybe it’s not now that I think about it because Marquez had a lot to do with Manny’s problems.
“People kept asking me why we didn’t land the right hand more when we worked on it for so long but Marquez kept throwing lead right hands. By not using his jab so much he took our right hand away. He really does know how to fight. He’s a dream come true for a boxing purist.
“He’s intense. He’s tactical. He’s sound. He never gets rattled. You have to admire him. When Manny put him down I didn’t think he was going to get up but he did. Manny hurt him two more times in the fight but we couldn’t get him out and the cuts he had didn’t bother him at all even though they had a lot of trouble closing them. When Manny gets cut he doesn’t handle it so well. Luckily (cut man) Joe Chavez got it under control and we had a plastic surgeon stitch it up real nice so it shouldn’t bother him in the future.’’
What will bother both him and Roach is living with the questions fans and boxing insiders have over the outcome of both fights. The draw came despite Pacquiao dropping Marquez three times and more than a few people felt Marquez had actually fought his way back to victory despite a disastrous first round.
Pacquiao’s win in the rematch came by the smallest margin possible, one point on one judge’s card, or it too would have been a draw on a night where, again, many left the arena feeling Marquez had come out on the wrong end of the decision.
There is only one way to settle this of course and Roach is hoping it will happen soon, although nothing can happen until Pacquiao faces Diaz, a hard-nosed southpaw Roach feels will present them some difficulties. Not like the ones Marquez poses but problems all the same, problems that will have to be solved.
“Manny doesn’t like to fight southpaws,’’ Roach said, “but when we fight a guy who’s hittable Manny does well. People tell me David Diaz is an easy fight. I say he’s a world champion. The last time I looked they didn’t give those belts away.
“It will be a tough fight. He’s aggressive. He’s tough. He comes to win. And we don’t know yet how moving up in weight will affect Manny. It was a little bit difficult for him making 130. He struggled but not tremendously so we have to look good at 135 and then see what’s next.’’
One possibility has been talk emanating from De La Hoya’s camp that boxing’s Golden Boy would dearly love to finish his career against Pacquiao. Roach laughs at the suggestion because of the obvious size difference, although he knows he can’t totally dismiss it.
“That’s a pretty big jump (from 130 to 147),’’ Roach said. “I guess De La Hoya and Manny don’t like each other but I don’t know. I think it’s more likely we go to 140 if we can get Hatton and then back to 135. What we want is to win the lightweight title and then fight Marquez again but he’ll have to come up to 135, or at least a catch weight of 133. One thing we know about that fight, it will be competitive.’’
Which, frankly, is how Freddie Roach likes it.
“I get jacked up for fights like the one with Marquez,’’ Roach said. “We all like the competition. When the bell rings we trainers go sit down but the strategy of it is important to us.
“I’m a competitive person. Nacho Beristain (Marquez’s trainer) is one of the great trainers in boxing. If we can make adjustments to negate their guy’s strategy that makes us get excited. I enjoy that.
“The only thing that bothered me about the last fight really was what they said after they lost. If we’d have lost that fight I wouldn’t have cried about the decision. I know that’s easy to say because we won but when the fight’s that close you can’t cry about losing by a point. It takes away from it. That fight was great for Manny and for Marquez and it was great for boxing. We were all winners.’’
Close winners in the case of Freddie Roach and Manny Pacquiao. So close they want to do it again. Soon. Unless, of course, Ricky Hatton calls first.

I agree with regards to freddie"s view on the last fight of manny. It was fortunate enough to land his left hook on 3rd round and i think its the factor that earns the nod of the judges. But i dont like controversies too lets make it one sided and i believe manny will do it on the rematch wi jmm.

Marques deserves for a rematch to complete the trilogy, but not too soon. But the Marques team should respect the " Judges " decision or manly enough to accept it. Yes no dought that there was a contraversees to that fight and so with first fight between them during 2004 when Marques got knockdown three times and the verdict went in favor of Marques, so there your are. The two are Great Fighters and the boxing world are expecting for the trilogy that would be tilted " The unsettled Contraversees "

ROACH TO BORGES: “Pacquiao and Marquez will meet again and it won’t take four years this time." If Roach really said that, then he knows for sure that Marquez won that rematch. There's no need to discuss that. Man, Roach himself said it clearly. Juan Manuel Marquez did not lost nor drew against Pacquiao in last month's rematch. And Roach himself knows it.

Nice piece, Fightwriter Champion of the Hurt Business, RB. Marquez will be kissing the canvas in a third bout. This guy can fight, but he is also a good kisser of the canvas when engaged with Peso Pac. Maybe JMM has a fetish for canvas kissing when fighting the "Fabulous Filipino." JMM is now anointed as PacMan's personal human yo-yo canvas kisser. I assure you that he will kiss the canvas in a possible Bout III. In the meantime, Manny is definitely going to become the first ex-flyweight titlest to ever win a lightweight crown. Oh, yea! He is going to finish off David Diaz. And don't be surprised if Manny also become a light welter title holder. He will kick Ricky Hatton's butt worst than what Money May did. Pinoy Power! Manny "PacMan" aka "Peso Pac" aka "The Best Asian Boxer Ever" Pacquiao is awesome. Holla!

What a great fight!!!
I think Manny should move up to 135lbs for the WBC lightweight crown. Win or Loss (which I'm sure he will win), he will then fight marquez for the third time to truly settle their rivalries. This time, I am confident that the PacMan will wipe out the Dinamita via TKO.

JMM and his camp should be man enough to accept the decision of the judges. remember, two of the judges saw it for the PACMAN. they should refrain from sour-graping because this is not good for the sport already plaqued with controversies. I agree that a third fight is inevitable, but the Bobfather is right. let it bake for a while. my advise to coach roach..dont rush things dude. go up to lightweight and stay there!140 is already too perilous to manny.

I just like how Freddie protect PACMAN, his a damn honest man like BOB arum said. His not a crying BABY, There's a big difference between PAC and JMM's style. But always PAC has an edge. PAC didn't follow the game plan, instead he was trying to prove to the people that he could technically box as well, and he did. But, it led himself to danger to JMM's technical style of boxing which is JMM's gameplan. PAC should improve something more on his aggressiveness because its JMM weakness. But still, i gave PAC (118-116) in my scorecard as well as my fellow AMERICAN FRIENDS.

"If Roach really said that, then he knows for sure that Marquez won that rematch. There's no need to discuss that. Man, Roach himself said it clearly."
man this saltlover needs some enhancement in reading comprehension.
roach said it was very close, and that manny won by a bit, he didnt say that marquez won.
the reason why he wants the rematch because he doesnt like "CONTROVERSY", he wants a win by pac wherein nobody like you will ever bitch about losing a point, get it?
and maybe another reason why he likes another rematch with marquez is to compete with berestain,
"“I get jacked up for fights like the one with Marquez,’’ Roach said.
I enjoy that."

Pacquiao really won that fight it is pretty clear. Marquez throw more jabs but pacman blocks it by his gloves so it didn't land on pacman's face. only round 2 and 8 is clearly won by Marquez. But pacman clearly won rounds 1, 3 , 7, 9, 10,12. other rounds can go either way. All mexican boxers who fought pacman suffered a knockdown , is it not enough to proove that pacman is the best among them? Knockdown is a knockdown in any language, it is a shameful experience.

The only round debatable here is round 7,11,12 cause they are so close we all know pac owned round 1,3,4,9,10 and jmm owned round 2,8 and 5,6 which still close but I think jmm edge it. I watched the fight several times and 2 of them is in 2x Slow Motion in every round. This What happened in Round 11. The time I use is the official time of this round. I put the time so you wouldn’t tell me I’m stupid and liar!
jmm landed 1 left hook and strait right (2:51-2:50), pac landed right hook and jab (2:49), rest miss by both until jmm low blow pac at 2:11, jmm miss at 2:01-1:56, pac miss at 1:52, pac lands a jab. pac landed strait at 1:48 as jmm throw counters right but landed at pacs glove. jmm miss right and pac counter him with right hook at 1:38, pac landed soft left 1:35, jmm miss(1:32), pac block jmm 1-2combo as pac backing off(1:30), jmm landed clean right and follow up with left uppercut and right strait(1:27-25) while pac landed 2 jab at 1:24, pac miss with his left but land with his right (1:23), pac landed good left (1:19), jmm landed his jab but pac countered right hook(1:14), jmm miss with his left and right, pac block them at 1:11-9 jmm land 1 right body shot (:56), jmm landed strait right while pac landed right hook at (:54-:53), pac miss with his jab while jmm land one(:52) pac landed 3 left as jmm counter with his right but miss again(:47), pac land double right hand and miss with his left but landed again 1 right strait(:44-43) jmm landed right hook and left uppercut but miss with his 2nd right hook(:36-35) pac block jmm shot jmm landed left hook at:20 jmm landing right strait(:14) pac landed solid right and miss with another left-right combo but landed another left uppercut(:13-12) jmm miss(:11) pac miss with his right-left and also jmm miss his countered left(:05) jmm land left hook and pac countered a good right hook!! Who do you think won?!!! I think pac clearly won it because almost jmm punch landed in pac glove
giving round 1 to jmm is really stupid. Pac clearly won round 1 but I see lots of unofficial scoring that round 1 belongs to jmm. Jmm only land one hard right and 2 body shot and he won?! WTF! Pac landed more clean shot and jab.

Pacman doesn't have it, like his trainer Roach did not had it. So where Roach is going to get the expertise to teach Manny. Once Pac strenght is gone everything will go, you can see how clumsy he is , no grace at all, only pure carabao brute force and a lots of fanfare from both of them. He is lucky that he is younger than JMM. Next time JMM will do the same, coz his skills. So Manny start doing your 1,000,000,000 push up like usual. Either you have it , or you don't.

In a close fight, were boxers scored almost the same, a fan's fealty tilts his beliefs as to the correct decision must had. Much has been said. Belief is a conglomeration of facts and opinion. Where facts end, opinion (correct or wrong) fills the gap.
If you knew you can win, the more reason you want the figth to happen. Both sides thought and feels that way. SALT LOVER, Roach wants the fight because he strongly believes Manuel Pacquiao can win it.
Contrary to normal human mind to take a battle that cannot be won. If Roach sees Marquez cannot be beaten then, why fight him.

Agree, Manny need not rush to 140 lbs since he still has a lot of business to do at the 135 lbs division. Manny is a good fighter but he has to make himself credible in that weight by lashing out the 135 lbs pretenders as what he did in the 130 lbs division.

In my honest opinion... both Paquiao and Marquez are very talented and excellent fighters. Their 2nd encounter was too close to determine which of them is the clear winner. If I were the judge I would have declared it a resounding DRAW. I was expecting Manny to win it easily but I was wrong. JMM was tough and a fine counter-puncher -- and even an offensive fighter. Although he lost to Pacquiao.. the way he fought , I think he has a great chance to beat Manny. A 3RD BOUT PLEASE!!!

I don't want to see MP to fight Hatton. It is enough for me and some Filipino of his achievement in boxing that make us proud. I know it's not about money but fame. The heart of MP is for the poor and to make filipino world wide proud to be, and that was done already and accomplished. He is a good example of a true patriotic filipino that always encourage the filipino to be at best, but unlike others, some politicians and groups always looks for thing that will make our country looks bad and took away trust of possible investors. Those add to the hardships and suffering of our unfortunate countrymen. Talking with solid evidence will KO this administration surely, but grandstanding and publicity make no sense but destruction to our country and more suffering inflict to the poor. Don't plant hatred, feeds our young with compassion and patience. But for MP loose or win, money and fame, he always shown example and thought our children of what to be a sound sportsman and a good politician. Bear in mind that true Success can be measured by hardship and patience, like what MP had shown and achieved.

A Pac-Hatton fight would be a nice spectacle. Hatton, on fight night, would be the bigger stronger man. But, Hatton has problems with South Paws, as do a lot of fighters. I think Hatton's body attack would be trouble for the Pacman. I also think that Pac has enough speed and power to slug the Hatton onto his back. In his fight with Mayweather , Hatton didn't recover well from the knockdowns, the only ones of his career. I don't think it would take a miracle for Pacman to beet Hatton, just a good night. Also, we don't even know how Pacman will respond to the added weight. I think it is safe to say that the added weight would be mostly muscle mass.

Hey, hey, hey PEOPLE! OBVIOUSLY Roach ain't going to say Marquez won. What trainer would? All I'm fu#$ing saying is that if Roach said that: That "Pacquiao and Marquez will meet again and it won’t take four years this time", then obviously he knows Pacquiao lost. If he knew that his fighter have won, then he would be satisfied and there wouldn't be no need of having to fight Marquez again. The ones saying he won are OBVIOUSLY his Filippino fans (Around here specially) and two inexperienced judges. However: The numbers, Pacquiao's crying reaction and now Roach's comments, tell us the truth. There's no way Juan Manuel Marquez lost his rematch against Manny Pacquiao. I don't care what any of you say, that's the truth and it's plain simple.

Solo, Hatton had been put down before Mayweather. Added muscle mass of course doesn't equate to hitting power, as those muscles often end up slowing a fighter down. While Roach is correct in stating that Hatton is not much bigger than Manny, the fact that he has spent his career at 140 and taking shots from guys at that weight will spell the difference. If Pacquiao showed a chin of iron at 130, I would say no big deal. But he hasn't and that should be cause for worry. Pacquiao doesn't have the frame that carries over well to higher weight classes (at 5'6"). I don't see how the former flyweight poses a genuine threat in terms of power to Hatton. Let's be realistic. Neither does he have (or will ever have) the skill to "box" Hatton. Then again, I'm sure Roach knows things about Manny that we can only guess at. Depending on how well Pacquiao does at 135 (whether he is at all fast and powerful for the weight), Roach may just have to turn his back on his "dream" match.

Salt lover, you go ahead and believe whatever you want. But that's not what Roach meant as he made clear above. Furthermore, you're basing your interpretation of a Marquez win on "Pacquiao's crying?" Please, do better than that. Lastly, Just because Roach knows how to give props to the other fighter (something SOME people would do well to learn), doesn't mean he concedes that the other guy won. But whatever, you just hold on to your skewed version of things if it makes you feel better.

Hey someone stole my cue I'm the true pacfan.lol. But anyway I understand SALTLOVER, he hates Pacquiao just as much as I hate PBF. But what I don't understand is how you think your boy Jmm won that fight. I predicted it exactly like i said on previous articles that it was going to be a close split for Pacman. But when I watch the fight over and over I had the fight scored so similar to Ledermans' scorecard 115-112 seven rounds to five for Pacquiao. JMM was backpedalling so much he was still getting hit now i understand if Pacquiao wasnt answering with punches of his own but he did. Boxing is scored by rounds everyone not the total landed and aggressiveness wins fights also and that was all Pacman. I think he should stay put at 135 if he's comfortable there, If he is at 140 then hey bring on PBF that would be the fight of the century!!!!!My prediction for the rubbermatch is Pacquiao by knockout in the fifth round you watch. He don't wanna hear anymore whinning and crying by the camp and haters like you. Nobody wanted to bet me round here and for the next time around he's going to prove once and for all why the money is on Pacquiao.

I say bring them all! Let Manny fight the world while Mayweather takes on the WWE. I say fight everyone thats worth fighting. Whether its DelaHoya (Oscar - 5'11" ..Manny is only 5'6"), Hatton, David Diaz, Marquez, Casamayor, Guzman, Valero, Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, Floyd Mayweather.. we can fight them all just to prove who is the number 1 pound for pound. Manny has been criticized a lot for his win against Marquez but he put Marquez down for the fourth time. The more he fights Pacquiao the more he'll end up having brain damage. C'mon give the guy a break. Manny has knocked down almost everyone in the feather weight division. Show some respect people!

I can't believe people are still debating over that fight. In my eyes, Manny won because of the knockdown, pure and simple. I ain't just saying that as a fan of Pacquiao. I'm a 50/50 kind of guy. I can appreciate the aggressive brawler and the boxing purist. Many others might disagree but I don't understand why Marquez fans are still upset over this. If there was another match, I don't know if Marquez could fight as well again as he did in the rematch but thats another day. Honestly though, I'd love it if Pac was to win the lightweight title and then go on and defeat Hatton but its a big ask. Although I don't rate Hatton that highly, I still think he could beat Pac. Hmm, I wonder if Pac hits harder than Mayweather.

Go! manny!! hit! them all in the lightweight division show them what you got and pls... be careful. by the way manny put a couple of weights on your both hands while you jog, so that you will gain more hand speed and power, 1/2kl for 2 week, 3/4kl for 3 weeks and 1kl for 3 weeks, coz lightweight fighters are tough and durable. take it from me and you'l see the effect of your hands speed and power! i think all of them in that division will go down like a tree being cut by a typhoon! so devastating!!!. take care always manny and God Bless...

Hatton would destroy Pacquiao at 140. The man walks around at 165+ thanks to booze and food, but Hatton also is not afraid to walk into disaster. How can pac fight guys like Guzman, Valero Linares, Soto if he can not handle old Juanita JMM. On every fight Pac end all bruise and hopefully this time it's not serious and his eye heals soon. Without Arum he will be driving his Yeepnie in his GenSan, and fighting Yeepnie drivers for a few pisos, unlike when he fight this Mehicanos the ones they are always disrespecting. But one thing is funny him or Roach never mention Mayweather, coz May he will jump on him even outside the ring, they know who they can mess.

Now that Valero got his lisence to fight in Texas, USA, why not suggest a Barrera vs. Valero fight?
This Valero had been dreaming a fight with MP. If he wins against Barrera or Juarez, then MP vs. Valero shall be a big hit.

Wow I cant wait for the rematch with JMM, I just hope Manny KO's DD or else if he loses to DD or if he wins a close fight then they might as well say goodbye to the Hatton - Pacman fight...Then they will have to just settle with JMM, pressure for Manny to win fights in a devastating manner has really doubled. All they have to do to win against JMM is to study the 2nd fight and make sure after the wiegh in, Manny doesnt eat too much that results to too much weight gain that negates his speed and timing. If they have an excellent game plan plus weight gain of Manny after the wiegh in is within the normal limits of a fighter who's mobility and speed does not get affected, then JMM is going to get KO'ed and he wont be able to get up.. It will be a devastating KO victory for Manny.

I wasn't to impressed with Pacquiao JMMarquez ll. Vasquez RMarquez was a much better matchup and a showcase of fighting skills. If Freddie Roach thinks Pacquiao is gonna fight Hatton at 140 he's crazy. The Pacquiao I saw against JMMarquez looks like he has peaked already and it's just a matter of time before he gets beat. Pacquaio
moves up in weight he will get beat especially by the world class fighters.

First of all - Manny lost to an absolute boxing genius, even he knows that. Roach thinks it's a problem and must be confronted. Does he really need to? What most people fail to see here is that in terms of class, it wasn't really a close match. It was a match that clearly defined both fighters. Except for one shining round, Manny was totally outclassed by JMM. A rematch will only be of the same, but with JMM winning via unanimous decision.
I think it's quite indulgent, for someone like Golden Boy, or his advisers to call out a fight with Manny. Dela Hoya is so desperate to stay active in this business and earn his usual millions, that he thinks it is his God-given right to challenge anyone. Unfortunately, Manny doesn't need him like he does. I think a Pac-Hatton fight is already a far fetched "dream" kind of scenario...a Pac-Dela Hoya one would be sheer foolishnees and greed for everyone concern.

Areglado: Thank you for clearing up my error regarding Hattons knockdowns, do you remember who knowcked him down? Also, Hatton is the bigger man walks around at 180lbs. + . A natural flyweight would have a hard time making Hatton feel the power. But, we aren't talking about some regular blown up flyweight, we are talking Manny Pacquiao! Up to this point he has been brought up in weight at a very good, slow pace, and he has showcased the speed and power that we have come to know him for. I don't think that Pacquiao would one punch knowckdown Hatton, but we can't count that out. It would have to be, in which I think, a flurry of power shots, which PacMan is very capable of. Also, I think Pac has shown a good chin in the 130s. Yes he gets rocked, or what seems to the viewer to be rocked. A lot of it comes from his akwardness and the way he lunges in and out of the pocket. Hatton is no joke and Pac would be the under dog. If the fight materialized I would want PacMan to win, but do thik that Hattons chances are greater. I am just trying to give this fight credebilty because I want to see it, and BAD.

Pacquiao was so nice to appproach marquez at the END OF THE FIGHT and BEFORE THE ANNOUNCEMENT was made. Try to look at any replay if you can, but Marquez showed arrogance by not complimenting. Marquez does not deserve another match at this point. He has to earn it. Majority of the boxing world cannot sympathize with Marquez. Why? because, he has grown BIGGER than himself. Remember the 1st fight? One of the judges admitted his mistake but Pacquiao was never a "cry baby". Now, they complain so much. It is their fault or rather Marquez's mistake. In a close fight, dont allow yourself to be floored. In case of doubt, you will really lose the fight. Or let us put it this way - try better next time, give all that you can. But reality bites, boxing is also about profitability. Pacquiao's career handlers have also to take look at that. Let me now ask Mr. Marquez or his promoters - what offer do you have that Pacquiao "cannot refuse"? Still, I believe, Pacquiao has to fight David Diaz to move on. Life is about facing more challenges, and fighting Diaz is a more challenging option. Fighting Marquez will only benefit "Marquez". If he would have been "humble", maybe Pacquiao will think twice. Or rather, the boxing world will sympsthize with him, Sorry, we cant.

Gee gerry, then I guess that if somebody steals your car, you shouldn't be upset, but rather act sad so the robber and the authorities feels sorry for you and say: Here sonny boy, here's your car? Marquez was clearly robbed in that fight and Pacquiao knew it. Pacquiao's approach you mentioned? He was just ready to congratulate Marquez, cuz he knew Marquez won. However, I agree that a 3th fight would be a waste of time, cuz Boxing wouldn't benefit more from those two. And people already see Pacquiao "superior". So David Diaz it is, but decisions like that are the ones putting the sport just like America's Foreign Policy: Really low. Peace.

A pacquiao-Marquez 3RD FIGHT is great. but JMM should wiat, Pacman should fight david Diaz at 135lbs next. Plans about Pacquiao-hatton isn't far away, the Hitman fights @ 140Lbs and Pacman @ 130-135Lbs. despite their weight difference, both man stands 5'6.5 ft, there's no height advantage for the hitman. if the Hitman can fight @ that weight, why not pacquiao too. hatton fought all his life at 140lbs but lost his bid against mayweather at 147lbs, he can't even move up and win a title at a higher weight class . manny has won belts from 112lbs, 122lbs, 126lbs, & at 130lbs, not just WON, but KNOCKED HIS NOPPONENTS OUT. Pacman has achieved more than hatton did. a fight with hatton, dela hoya, mayweather, or other big boys at higher weights, win or lose, THE PACMAN WILL FIGHT THE BEST OUT THERE!!! No! Please! Someone terminate Ricky Hatton from the sport of boxing I will never watch a Hatton fight or should I say a hugfest ever again that boy is no good. Pacquiao should go up to 147 and face Cotto or Mayweather not De La Hoya who I doubt will even get past forbes next month. Pacquiao has came into fights weighing in at around 149 if I can remember, so I don't think making and carrying the weight would be a problem. So listen Freddy and Pacman come up to 147 and most likely face Cotto. I think Mayweather would turn it down because there might be a possibility that floyd might lose and as you all know Mayweather is a B**aach.

"It Takes A Special Man"
"It takes a special man to lace them on and step into a ring to either hurt or be hurt. It's always been my opinion that the greatest fighters (not necessarily the most commercially successful) are probably born with that never give up until I'm completely done attitude. It can be nurtured over time, but you either have it or you don't. When adversity hits, and it will, this instinct will allow you to reach inside for additional strength and determination. Ali, Louis, Gatti, Corrales had it....Marquez and Pacquiao have it. De La Hoya, for all the great things he did as a boxer never had it, Tyson didn't have It, Cotto doesn't have it, and as much as I hate to admit it because I loved to watch him fight, Chavez didn't have it. 99.9% of us don't have it either. That's why we're not all fighters and we can sit here and judge these courageous men from the comfort of our computers."
