Jermain Taylor-Winky Wright Memphis-Bound

NEW YORK (March 3, 2005) – DiBella Entertainment, Gary Shaw Productions and Prize Fight Promotions announced today that the much anticipated Jermain Taylor vs. Winky Wright undisputed world middleweight title fight, slated for Saturday, June 17th, will take place at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

"Memphis has illustrated clearly that it is a boxing town and the FedEx Forum is one of the finest arenas in the country," said Taylor’s promoter Lou DiBella, president of DBE. "We look forward to the southern hospitality in June."

"Having held my last training camp there,” Taylor said, “and it being just two hours from Little Rock, Memphis is like a second home to me. I can't wait to perform in front of my fans from Arkansas and my adopted hometown fans in Memphis. It's going to be a great night."

"This will be a tremendous battle in a tremendous city,” added Wright's promoter Gary Shaw, “the most important fight in the 160 pound division."

Prize Fight Promotions COO Brian Young said that "This is the most significant middleweight championship fight in the last 25 years since Hagler vs. Leonard. The stakes couldn't be any higher in what promises to be the major fight of 2006.Two great fighters with one goal. I could not be more excited for my hometown to be the site of this epic battle."

Reginald Williams:  I think that Winky should rematch Taylor, Why not? He could recieve another couple of millions. I think he did a great job even though Taylor was much stronger, but Winky held his own.

Suits, Stop Squabbling, And Posturing, AND MAKE FIGHTS!
"Floyd may very well be the most talented boxer but that he does not understand that what the fans, who ultimately pay the bills, watch fights for is entertainment. At the moment, he not only ignores that reality but frankly doesn't seem to care. Neither about our wishes and/or our passion for to see great fights. Thus, there is little Go ... and even less Show. I am vaguely interested in the Business of Boxing. Frankly, it is a mess on a good day and worse on it's worst. I prefer reading the Business pages where brilliant men and women develop skills and strategies to create incredible value and wealth (for themselves and others) in ways far more effectively and meaningfully than those who Rule ...some might say Ruin...this beautiful Sport." --FE'ROZ, speaking for a majority of fight fans
