Kornilov Says Herrera, Judah and Mosley Spurned Half Mill To Fight Ruslan

ruslan_provodnikov_i_vadim_kornilov

Vadim Kornilov reached out to a passel of vets, and the payday seems quite more than reasonable.  $500,000 to come to Russia to fight Ruslan Provodnikov. But he's heard a bunch of no thank yous. So Ruslan's manager Kornilov keeps working the phones, seeking someone to accept a challenge that could be one of those “sounded good at the time” deals…

Why, you ask?

Because I'm guessing that the Provodnikov standing across from whoever on Nov. 28 in a Russian ring will be a shade or two nastier and more effective than he was in his last outing, on June 14. On that night, he started fast, and faded, and lost his WBO 140 crown, because his foe, Chris Algieri, was better able to adapt than he was.

Come Nov. 28, someone will be testing my theory.

“Opponent will be finalized this week,” Kornilov told me. “Mauricio Herrera, Zab Judah and Shane Mosley all turned down $500,000.”

Hmm. Sounds like a princely sum. But, easy for me to say. I'm not the one who'd be signing on for an all-you-can-eat leather eating festival…

Russia? stories can be told in different ways Kornilov and his team turn down a fight put together by Gomez/ Golden boy. Ruslan VS M-Herrera in the Hopkins undercard, More realistic than fighting in Russia. Banner promotions was not too interested in sharing the stage with Hopkins/ kovalev. also the offer was far less than 500K to go to Russia.

Thanks for spittin' da 4-1-1 on the actuality of the reality. I told people a quadrillion times that moolah exaggeration is always happening. And the lying powers that be want the pugs to go along to get along. Wazzup with the pretending of big salaries when going to Russia? Those bytches are Da Don Kings. How in da double fudge do they get $500Ks out150Ks? Holla!

-Kid Blast :

Ruslan want to fight at 147

KidB.... I'm astonished myself. Mosely has fought Winky Wright, Mayorga, Canelo, Segio Mora...at junior middleweight... Paq, Floyd, Oscar, Margarito and Cotto at welterweight and was about to fight Mundine. I think there is more to this story. Much much more. Maybe they dont trust the payment method or the judging..... ..and I'm just guessing here but it has to be more than the threat of a plodder like Provodnikov. Yes RP can punch but even in his old age Mosely has faced worse dangers.... I wasn't that long ago that he was sparring GGG. I would like to hear from the other side......I'm sure an article expressing the other fighters viewpoint will be forthcoming.

-The Good Doctor :

You can also add to the list Brandon Rios, Jesse Vargas, Diego Chaves, Danny Garcia, and Algieri. I find it hard to believe that 7 or 8 fighters said no to a 500K payday with paid expenses according to Ruslan's manager. A few of them have or may be able to get more cake in a less taxing fight but there alot of guys who will take that in a New York minute. This one does not pass the smell test.

He did fight Mundine. And took a beating and quit on the stool, while claiming an injury. It was no way in heck that he was going to fight in Russia. And Siberia, of all places, for 150-to-200ks -- the true offer to him. and Duper Zab Judah was not doing it for 250ks -- want he was offered. You have so many lying-about-dough weasels in this shady, sneaky, sleazy sport. Holla!

B- sug, I don't know too much on the Mosley offer, but an old Mosley at 147 is no walk in the park for Ruslan. I think Mosley would of jumped on the offer. Shane is much bigger than ruslan. As for the offer to M-H it was more like 300k @ 147 in Moscow,No us tv exposure.

YUP! That was the offer until the offer sheet found its way to you. No way that I will even try to lecture you. You know the game and how da money gets funny. Deposit my money in _______ _________. And pay me in American dollars. No 300 grands of Russian Rubles which equals $7,503.36. While $500 grands = $12,505.26. Riverside, I'm glad that you guys turn this fight down because you were about to be double gypped. Holla at some American pugs who got doubled gypped in Moscow -- No TV exposure. There are tricks of the trade even -- especially -- in pay. Holla!

-Radam G :

You would have gotten ROBBED of the fight and shortchanged of the purse. Holla!

-brownsugar :

Riverside, RG, Good Doctor, ...I'm with you guys.... Something is definitely rotten in Russia. All those fighters wouldn't turn down half a mil because they are terrified of Ruslan.

Jose Luis Castillo has accepted to fight Ruslan in Moscow, I can't confirm, has anybody heard the rumor, if true Castillo is in for a beating, hopefully his corner is quick to stop the beating. A prime Castillo vs ruslan would have been epic.

Castillo will get beat up if he even makes the weight which he won't do. Castillo had a prime over 10 years ago. Bad move by RP and his team. If Castillo gets in the ring he wont get off his stool by the 4th.
