Regarding the Drug/PED Testing in NYC

This is the new normal, this mindfullness about the testing protocol for the big bouts. Sergio Martinez meets Miguel Cotto in the most anticipated bout in the year of boxing 2014 to this point, and lodged in the back of the brain is the testing issue.

I checked in with the NYSAC media relations spokesman, and asked about NYSAC’s testing. They are in charge of handling the testing and choosing what chemicals are present in the sample, which is given postfight.

Here is the statement from the NYSAC and a list of what verboten substances are on their no-no list.

All boxers appearing in New York are required to undergo mandatory drug testing for both illicit and unlawful substances. On Saturday, the Commission will administer drug tests to all boxers at the event.

The use of illicit substances and Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED) presents a grave and growing threat to the integrity of athletic competition within the sport of boxing. The use of illicit substances and PEDs in professional boxing is strictly prohibited by the New York State Athletic Commission. To deter and combat illicit substance and PED use in professional boxing, the Commission shall seek administrative license revocation, medical suspension, purse forfeiture, and additional fines in any instance in which a professional boxer engages in doping and/or illicit drug use.

Wow! Holla!

-The Commish :

I think it's great that the NYSAC has taken a hard line with drug testing. At his/her pre-fight physical, a fighter must fill out a form asking what drug, if any, are they on and for what reason. If the answer is "Yes," they must explain. Some drugs/steroids are physican prescribed for a variety of reasons. If they answer "No," and then test positive, they are deemed to have lied to the NYSAC and will be notified by mail about their infraction and that they must appear with/without legal counsel before the commission for an administrative hearing. Should they be found guilty. they can be fined and/or suspended. Let's hope that Sergio Martinez, Miguel Cotto and the rest of tonight's card all test negative. -Randy G.

With that syet dat he has in him to morph into Hulkquez, Marquez will never be dancing New York. DHEA (T/E ratio & gt;6) along will get him nailed. But I don't know about that back-in-the day, banned in the U.S.A. "Tales of the Crypt" stuff that the falling Angel "Memo" Heredia can get on his runs to the border and crossing of them. Holla!
