espn logoCurtis “50 Cent” Jackson on ESPN First Take talk about his relationship with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Mayweather ducking Manny Pacquiao, what boxing could learn from MMA and his upcoming album. 50 Cent visited ESPN’s headquarters in Bristol on Thursday, February, 28, to promote the March 1 edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.

Details about March 1 Friday Night Fights:

The March 1 edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights presented by Corona Extra will feature an IBF Title fight between Featherweight titlist Billy “The Kid” Dib (35-1, 1 NC, 21 KOs; The Ring Magazine’s No. 4, ESPN.com No.8 ranked Featherweight) and undefeated challenger Evgeny “The Mexican Russian” Gradovich (15-0, 8 KOs) in the 12-round main event. Friday’s show from the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., will air live at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2 HD, and will be available online through WatchESPN.com and on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app. The card will also air live on ESPN Deportes+, the new digital extension of ESPN Deportes, and will air tape delayed on ESPN Deportes Saturday morning at 3 a.m. The card is co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and SMS Promotions, owned by multiplatinum recording artist and entrepreneur 50 Cent.

50 Cent, who promotes Dib, was at ESPN’s headquarters on Thursday, February 28, for an ESPN “Car Wash” to discuss Friday’s main event on ESPN TV and radio shows. On Friday, he will be at Foxwoods performing a walk out song prior to the main event. He will also be the sparring partner in Friday’s “Fight Plan” segment with ESPN’s Teddy Atlas , in which Atlas and a sparring partner outline what each fighter needs to do to win.

Interesting watch. Gotta love when someone goes Judas. 50 totally confirming all I ever thought as to why certain fights weren't made with Floyd. Lmfao@ him spilling the beans.

amayseng

yep Curtis ( i refuse to call a grown man 50 cent, i have a nickname too but outgrew it at 13) called floyd out , saying that he DUCKED pacman. now RADAM i know you will respond with ducking is part of the game but look how much rich history and fantastic fights we have had in the sport for guys who did not duck and fought the toughest fights... liston and ali ali and frazier hagler and hearns and duran and leonard gatti and ward( werent elite but were very good and fought 3 times, the toughest opponent was each other) fighters who fight the best competition is what make this sport better... pacman vs cotto made the sport better floyd white washing a chubby jmm jumping up 2 classes and floyd not making weight did not benefit the sport floyd does little to benefit the sport, its all about him and his money... last time i checked i watched boxing to enjoy the fights, not for floyd to get rich with little risk.. thats not why we watch

SouthPaul

I'd add to what you just said and say... 50 clearly states Floyd wasn't afraid of any one certain fighter ...just too caught up in trying to control the money. Which totally how I've always viewed the situation. Never believed in the fear factor. Naw, Floyd's too confident and too good for me to get lost in that notion. Homey is just a difficult prick!

amayseng

I don't think any fighter is scared of another. Not at the elite level. They aren't built like that. But I do know PAC had the greatest risk as he was destroying the likes of hatton and cotto and here Floyd was an inactive fighter. Why the hell would he risk his zero which is his marketing and source of his money.

Radam G

Amayseng, every last one of the above that you named ducked someone. And the ones that they shoulda duck and didn't, they paid a BIG prize for not doing da ducky duck. Da Manny didn't need to dance with Marquez a fourth time. Roberto Duran didn't need to dance with the Hitman Hearns a single time. Likewise, the Hitman shoulda stayed da double fudge away from Iran Barkley. Money May was/is righteous in ducking Da Manny. And Money May will be righteous in ducking Austin Trout, just as Sugar Ray Robinson was right in duckin' "The Black Murder." And the Sugarman's shadow for being black, in the words of the late, great spirtual boxing trainer Drew "Bundini" Brown. Oh, YUP! You muthabravesuckas didn't know that. Hehe! Holla!

Radam G

Every single good and great fighter has FEAR. That jive is important to have. A fighter without fear ain't shyt. He has no fire. And ends up being nothing but an opponent, a sparring mate and a punching bag with eyeballs. Holla!

SouthPaul

I concur, Radam. Even on the elite level most fighters have some sort of fear. The main thing is managing it properly. Si or no, mijo? Amayseng I disagree. It wasn't about risking his zero against Pacquaio. Do you not understand at this point how much Floyd hates Bob Arum? You heard Floyd himself saying it on the last Showtime telecast. He ain't looking to do any business whatsoever with the old man. You heard 50 confirming it that interview . He's mentioned it in other interviews before Floyd himself talked it up on Showtime. All the proof is there, my friend, it's a power trip Floyd is on and now he's paying or in this case not paying them back for all the wrong he thinks they've done to him. That's the bottomline.

Bernie Campbell

Whadis Curtis Shucking and Jiving about! Show me the money! Get a Klitschko fight, Povetkin, David Haye, Never mind all this happy horse sh, and your dumb a** posing without a shirt on! Get the show on the road!

SouthPaul

Klitschko coming out to some AC/DC, fuckin' A dude! Lmfao.

louissouthpaw

50 cent, as he is known, does not belong on a serious board about boxing. Give me the analysis of someone who actually knows the sport.

SP and Amayseng I think I agree with the main thrust in relation to your comments about why Floyd hasn't fought Pacman. However the subject and controversy surrounding whether Floyd is ducking Pacquiao or genuinely concerned for the reasons given is complicated for many reasons; including all the BS associated with it from both camps and promoters. As such and because the subject is as interesting as it is controversial, I have started another thread called "Mayweather V Pacquiao - The Unnecessary Controversy". Please let me know your thoughts.
