Boxing Year in Review-October 2012

The largest, most unable-to-be-repaired hole was ripped in the sport when the universally beloved Emanuel Steward died on Oct. 25. We all hoped the Kronk sage would come out the other side when we heard he was in a hospital for a mystery ailment. Cancer, some said.

Some family tried to control the news flow, and reassure us he was on the mend, but that was impossible, and sadly not the case, as Steward was the most positive soul in the sport, on everyone’s best friend list. Aretha Franklin sang at his memorial service, and so many of his champions sat in pews, thinking about how this great man left a massive legacy on this earth. We still miss him.

[url=] Evander Holyfield Speaks at Canastota 2017 - Saturday, June 10th saw the International Boxing hall of fame in Canastota, New York hosting their annual induction ceremonies and this year’s class was headlined by former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield. Holyfield enters the HOF with a career mark of 44-10-2 and with a resume that includes some of the most memorable matches in the past 30 years. Several of his opponents that have preceded him into the IBHOF such as Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe cannot completely tell their stories without mentioning the name of Holyfield who may go down as purely the toughest of them all. Holyfield came to national attention at the 1984 Olympic Games where he came home with a bronze medal and he did not stop boxing until May of 2011. His nicknames include "Commander Evander" and "The Real Deal" and he can no be called "Hall of Famer" as well. Congratulations to Evander Holyfield, and thank you to him as well.     Evander Holyfield Speaks at Canastota 2017 In this short TBC segment our roving cameraman Marcelino Castillo captured the moments when Holyfield took the stage to address the induction ceremony crowd.
