Floyd is absolutely thrilled that Alvarez vs. Gomez will be a part of this show from Los Angeles.”

“This is a historic and unprecedented night for boxing and Golden Boy Promotions as we showcase the extraordinary talents of Mayweather, Ortiz, Alvarez and Gomez from two iconic and world-renowned venues in STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, the capitol of sports and entertainment and MGM Grand in Las Vegas, truly the boxing mega-center of the world,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO Golden Boy Promotions. “This show is now even more loaded with stars, and to have Alvarez vs. Gomez join the magnificent boxing match-up of the year between Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz is exactly why we named the fight 'STAR POWER,' which is expected to set attendance and viewership records in one night.”

“September 17 at STAPLES Center will be a night to remember for boxing fans in Los Angeles as it will mark the first time the arena will host a boxing match, a pay-per-view viewing and a post-fight concert all on the same day,” Lee Zeidman, STAPLES Center General Manager. “We are looking forward to what will no doubt be an incredible action-packed night of boxing and live entertainment.”

Hehehehehehehe! Editor Mike got jokes! Hehehehehehehe! Canelo is being fed more walking dead than idiot worshippers serving their fire gods and all type of other gods. Wow! Somebody up there and down here really luv da kid. But -- SORRY -- he cannot fight an iota. The game is showing da epitome of being about prizefighting. There are mini men maximizing the earning power outta Canelo, because whenever he steps up, he is gonna get his arse tore up from da floor up. I'm reminded of Primo Carnera. He was fed a lot of stiffs and tomato cans for maximization of profits. But we know what happened to him when he was fed to the real pugilistic, whup-a$$ sharks. Wow! Enough said! Holla!

-Joe :

This is a really easy one. Gomez is going to get slaughtered in the squared circle. A full two weeks before all the swelling is gone from his pumpkin head.

-ultimoshogun :

Gomez is gonna take a beating pretty much the same way Cotto beat him.

-mortcola :

Canelo fights like a somewhat more skilled Gatti. No reason to think he has the same heart or chin, though. He is clearly a good puncher, though I don't know how good yet. He likes to fight, but he always pauses and regroups when the other guy mounts an offensive - means he may be a front-runner, which is good as long as he's fighting B and C guys. He's green, but bright-green; green-plus. Here, there's no reason to expect Gomez to do anything particularly dramatic. He's a decent fighter, good heart, average power. He'll make Canelo work, and eventually, like everyone else says, he's gonna get hurt.

-Radam G :

Hehehehehehe! C'mon, mortcola! Let us have the REAL TALK! Canelo is greener than the greenest rainforest. Wow! Talkin' about wet behind the ears. Dude is splashed GREEN and skill-less. He does eveything WRONG! And it comes out WRONG! I cannot recall a B fighter that he fought. Unless you are considering long-in-da-tooth, was-severely-washed-up-when-he-fought-Canelo Carlos Boldamir. Canelo couldn't beat the top world amateur of his division in a 10-round bout. Man, this kid is shockingly lacking in skills. NEWFLASH: He is a FREAKIN' HYPE! He doesn't move his head. He holds his elbows spreaded wide and to the side like a bird getting ready to fly off. He doesn't punches with his hand squeezed close. He doesn't feint. He moves straight in and straight back. He carries he chin up in the sky, as if he is trying to spot the planet dumba$$. He throws picture-posing punches for the cameras and fans. He doesn't relax. Dude is jiggy and fidges more than a crackhead. He doesn't angle punches or knows how to counter a counter. He doesn't know how to walk his opponents into punches. He doesn't bend his knee, and da sucka is back-legged at that. I could go on forever. But I will stop. Dude, this kid is in deep kimche whenever and if he fights a B fighter -- a bum. Maybe even a good C fighter would whup his arse. I think that Corn "Kanine" Bundrage would kayo him in a couple of rounds. I bet Canelo will not fight James "The Mandingo Warrior" Kirkland. The Texan charge of the "Mermaid" Ann "In need of serious anger management" Wolfe would kayo his arse in about 55 seconds of the first round, IMHO. Holla!

-Radam G :

Mortcola, go to the site "Eastside Boxing" and holla at the "On The Ropes" interview of Pops Floyd Joy May. Dude is downing your boys -- the K-bros/docs. Joy is one, wild, crazy muthasucka. He really gets down on my peeps -- Da Manny. Joy's seed doesn't have true boksing cojones because da dad is one scary, foolish muthasucka. We Pinoys don't have any type of super steroids or any other type of PED sh*t in the Philippines that helps us walk through bullets and kick a$$ in the squared jungle. C'mon! We are just some natural bad muthachampions. Holla!

-mortcola :

Hey Rad - You may be right. I think Canelo is a natural enough fighter to both beat more technically sound B-fighters, and maybe tightens up his game. Problem is, the hype train is too fast, ahead of schedule - he's no worse than he ought to be at this point for an action banger; he's just too green for all the accolades and star treatment. We'll see. As for Floy-Joy, I honestly think one of Floyd Jr's biggest problems is needing to protect the egos of his Daddy and Uncle, one a china chin, the other a coulda-been (if it weren't for the slam). So, protect that bubble from any kinda trouble. When I'm done shaving the cactus, I'll tune in to the Mayweather Sr. show. I have other things to do first.

-brownsugar :

pampered champs... and insult to boxing,.. why not K9? he's beatable... even Carlos Molina he made Lara look like an amateur... while Martinez beats the drum for 3 guys who are 2 weight classes below..but won't face Pirog or Quillon? boxing gets more like Hollywood everyday... either you have the connects or you don't. Saw the face off between Oritz and Mayweather 2 xtimes ......now thats a fight. Devon wants Berto or Shane... Rios will fight anybody... and Bradley is suddenly too out of Khans' income bracket... Who do they think they're dealing with?

-mortcola :

I like what you say here, brownsugar. I think, though, that some of these fighters may not be at fault - sounds like the business of boxing is more about promoters and managers being the pamperers for boxers who don't need it, either having allegiances to in-house fighters, and/or taking lowest-risk/highest-reward fights.

-FighterforJC :

Lost respect for Bradley, typical of fighters like him. At first he came across as a real bruiser willing to fight anybody, but I was wrong. He doesn't mind the lottery fights like Mayweather and Pacquiao, which are guaranteed to fully fund his retirement. But he doesn't want to get whipped by someone who looks like the Taliban and talks like a spice girl.

-Radam G :

Timmy "Dessert -- I mean Desert -- Storm" Bradley is turning out to be a straight-up real trooper of the game. The game of prizefighting. Pridefighting is for the boxing dummies. Since Timmy cannot beat any of the top dogs, he's super smart to listen to the old school money makers. "Don't bite off more than your a$$ can chew. But get served that moola like an old can of Mountain Dew. WTF! Later for politics, and in with the money tricks. Timmy doesn't mind gettin' dat arse busted up, but for BIG PAY. That is the only way dat the human bowling ball head will PLAY. Holla, BUT always for the top dolla! For da luv of money, BABBEEE! Holla!

-brownsugar :

I hear you Mortcola.....after Hatton, Rhodes, and Baldomir, you'd think Canello would be ready step it up a little... hearing the faint cries of Gomez.."I'm gonna destroy Alvarez" does't do much to put me in the mood. It'd be different if the guy was so entertaining you had to watch,.. like a young Mike Tyson. have to agree with the comments on Bradley like F4JC I thought Bradley was going to be a real badass taking on all comers in a way we haven't seen before.. after spending over a year calling Khan a coward and threatening to demolish him in England (in front of the Queen) ............ he goes into stealth mode and says Khan's not a worthy enough target. It doesn't get any bigger that Khan except Manny or Floyd. Khan is Manny's Armour Bearer Khan is the Gateway the Magic Portal, The Passageway to Fulfillment, The Eternal Guardian. to be considered for either Pac or Mayweather, Bradley MUST go thru Khan. If he doesn't take the fight he'll end up withering on the vine just like Winky Wright, who waited around so long the sport just past him by. He'll eventually end up blowing up to welterweight... and have to go thru tougher tests like Mike Jones or Kell Brook. Better to fight and lose than to wait an eternity for a match that will never happen. Unless Arum has whispered something special in his ear... this kid is committing career suicide.

-FighterforJC :

Bradley learned from Mayweather, the importance of that "0." Mayweather still has fans only because of that "0." Bradley will avoid all danger and in time pad his record like Mayweather, and should Bradley build a following, his internet minions will always have that "0" to point to.

-brownsugar :

LOL....... here we go again.....speaking of Mayweather... check out last nights "Face Off"...it was low-key but tense..... this ain't gonna be pretty.

-FighterforJC :

No I don't have HBO I ought to check it out on YouTube. Care to share any highlights or your thoughts on the face off? And to Mayweather's credit, he did fight the best LIGHTWEIGHTS when he was in that weightclass. Bradley hasn't done squat.

-brownsugar :

for some reason we found it hilarious,... maybe because we're such huge fans... Victors eyes were wide and watery like he really had something to prove... . he accused Max Kellerman of ripping out his heart and stomping on it (comments made by Max after the Maidana fight). He virtually told Max that he tranformed Vic into the killer his is today.(Max didn't flinch)... Victor Ortiz says he just doesn't give a damn any more... Vic told Mayweather yeah your good,.. but I'm coming to get an autograph... I'm coming to kick that Ass (I am paraphrasing here). Mayweather was very low key and restrained.. Even ignored Vic during one part of the interview, then he looked deep into Vic's eys and asked Vic what he was going to do to him... Vic said "I'll brutalize you for 12 rounds"... Mayweather said " I thought you were going to knock me out"....all in all it was interesting... Don't count out Vic... the kid looks like a true Berzerker...this is going to be one violent fight... Floyd assured Vic that his dancing days are over... not because of his legs,.. but because he'd enjoys walking straight to his opponent... Victor allowed himself the indulgence of a huge smile. decent Hype.
