This is the final listing for my best fighters pound-for-pound in the world. What does it mean?
If all these fighters below weighed the same, this is the order I believe represents the very best in the sport of professional prizefighting.

Our thoughts this time of year tend toward reflection, trying to summarize and evaluate the events that made up the fabric of another year now dimming, rain washed, snowbound, closing. In boxing, as with every year, titles were won and lost, fighters and their cadres push toward lofty goals of money and fame or find themselves victims of irrational daring or unforgiving naiveté, the promoters and managers of record and notice preening or repositioning based on events beyond their economic manipulations. And as with each calendar year, there are rights of passages predicted, legends in passing and legends passing, the blight and might and matter of the sport continuously repopulated yet holding itself back, mindful of the sentiment for former moments of glories, champions just yesterday the blushing ring warriors of ultimate regard; time does that to all things mortal, memorialized.

Not long ago small heavyweights like “Fast” Eddie Chambers were the norm and giants like Wladimir Klitschko were an oddity.
“Yeah, some of those guys are pretty big,” said Chambers of the heavyweight division.
Chambers, 24, recently signed with Goossen Tutor Promotions and represents the new wave of heavyweights looking to throw more embers onto the heavyweight bonfire for 2007. It’s in need of more fuel.

Light Heavyweight contender Jesus “Chuy” Ruiz begins his day by jogging at 7 a.m. through the East L.A. barrio. The rest of his training, which is done throughout the day, consists of hitting the speed bag, the punching bag, jumping rope until his ankles beg for mercy and climbing into a hyperbaric chamber which resembles a ride you’d see in Disneyland. “I know it seems kind of strange,” said Ruiz before he climbed into the chamber for one of his hour treatments. “But you have to believe me when I say that it’s really made a difference in my life. I feel stronger and more athletic than ever.”
