Peter Manfredo/Joey Spina have a score to settle in Providence

Peter “The Pride of Providence� Manfredo, Jr. (25-3, 11 KOs) is ready for his showdown against cross-town rival Joey “KO Kid� Spina (19-0-1, 14 KOs) Saturday night. “The Contender Special – Put Up or Shut Up,� promoted by the Tournament of Contenders in association with Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in downtown Providence, is creating a lot of buzz.

“He just swings for the fences, looking for home runs, and that’s when you strike out. He’s not a boxer, I am; I throw short punches, he throws looping punches. I’m going to wear him down and take him out by the eighth. I have too much skill for him.�
