Last year at this time, I published a top 10 wish list for 2005. By my calculations I got 5 of them. Not too bad. I mean if we all got half of what we wanted, we’d be pretty happy, right?

The sight of Jaidon Codrington lying on the ropes, out cold from a punch, is tough to absorb. After he was rendered unconscious with a right hand in his fight with Allan Green on November 4, Codrington keeled over to one side and fell onto the ropes like a rag doll, his head lying grotesquely on the canvas while his legs were grounded inside the ring. It looked like he was trying to dive through the ropes and got caught.

Onetime light-heavyweight title challenger John “Iceman” Scully is known to be as good a boxing philosopher as he is a trainer and fighter. Working out of the Ring 159 Gym in his hometown of New Windsor, Connecticut, Scully trains or has trained Lawrence Clay-Bey, Scott Pemberton, Chad Dawson, Luis Maisonet, and Pito Cardona. He also works with red-hot featherweight prospect Matt Remillard, who says no one amps him up more than the Iceman.

Herol Graham, Iran Barkley, Mike McCallum, Robbie Sims, Doug DeWitt, Frederic Seillier and Steve Collins are the most famous fighters defeated by Sumbu Kalambay for the European or the WBA world middleweight titles. Kalambay also faced Micheal Nunn for the IBF belt and Chris Pyatt for the WBO championship, losing both times. From 1980 to 1993, the Zaire-born Kalambay built a professional record of 57 wins (33 KOs), 6 losses and 1 draw. He fought mostly in Italy, where he became an idol, was awarded citizenship and choose to live here after he hung up the gloves.

Boxing Roundup For Dec. 29th

Jermain Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella, said an April fight against Winky Wright at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock is a possibility: We're not saying we are going to fight Winky next, but we are seriously exploring the possibility. It's good news, which hopefully will get better with DiBella announcing sometime soon they are going to fight Winky next.
