Light heavyweight contender Paul Briggs in NYC to support his friend and Heavyweight contender Kali Meehan at Don King Productions Battle for Supremacy.
ON Corporation, the exclusive management of WBC NO 1 rated Light Heavyweight boxer Paul “Hurricane” Briggs (23 -1 - 17KO's), today confirmed that Paul Briggs will be at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday November 13 to walk into the ring with his good friend and fellow Australian top contender Kali Meehan when he takes on Hasim Rahman.
Briggs said: “I am so excited to be going to New York to support my friend Kali Meehan and to be ringside at Battle for Supremacy on November 13 at Madison Square Garden”
“It is the Australian way to support your mates and I am honoured to be able to walk into the ring with Kali Meehan and his team on Saturday night. Kali did all of Australia proud in his world title fight against Lamon Brewster, a fight that I believe Kali won. It is great to see that Don King has given Kali another shot so quickly and I believe his fight with Hasim Rahman will be a great fight, a fight that Kali will win”
Briggs, (who is awaiting confirmation of an opponent and date for his WBC light heavyweight vacant championship bout), believes that Saturday night’s Battle for Supremacy will be the perfect night out before his world title training camp commences:
Briggs said: “On Monday the 15th, I am commencing my training camp with Jack Mosley for my WBC world title fight in January. Watching world title fights at the Mecca of championship boxing, Madison Square Garden will be the prefect motivation to start my training camp to become World Light Heavyweight champion.”
“Antonio Tarver has ducked me, he has run scared and taken a non – title fight with Glen Johnson. As a result my new promoter Don King is putting together the fight for the vacant title. I am expecting that there will be an announcement in relation to this fight in the coming days but stay tuned, the future of the light heavyweight division is here, and it is Paul Briggs!”

Briggs, fresh from watching Australian Kostya Tszyu’s stunning comeback to the ring believes that Australian boxing is entering a golden era:
Briggs said: “Australian boxing is on an incredible high right now and I am really happy to be a part of it. Kali Meehan is doing Australia proud at heavyweight, Kostya Tszyu reaffirmed himself as a true pound for pound great against Sharmba Mitchell, Danny Green will reign at super middleweight in the future: Australian boxing is taking on the world, and winning!”
