About The Sweet Science

When The Sweet Science began a little more than a year ago, it was conceived with a big question in mind: Were there fight fans who loved fine boxing writing as much as we did? Was there a core group fascinated by the fights that would take the time to explore smart columns graced by cool photos? Was there, in other words, room on the ‘net for a boxing website that wasn’t for preteens?

Glancing at the competition, the answer was almost a universal ‘No.’ But since nature abhors a vacuum, it seemed only natural to roll the dice, attract the best boxing wordslingers on the planet, give them green light and let ‘er rip… and the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

The Sweet Science will be bringing you plenty of intriguing features in the near future – some hot off the wires and street, some cool from the four corners of the globe. If you’re joining us for the first time, welcome home, where ya been? If you’ve been with us for awhile, stick around; you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Wait And See On Hamed Wanne Be
"I reckon there'll be quite a few Brits in the crowd routing for Bradley to beat this Hamed wanna be. The British public may have adored Hamed's theatrics, but most of the British boxing fans just found it embarassing. If Witter was a little less mouthy, and could keep up the aggressiveness he shows on occasion (he can whack), he'd win over a lot more boxing fans, and make a fight with Hatton a more attractive prospect. As Ricky says, he can't be the only one bringing something to the table. Do another Vivian Harris and we'll see." ---TSS reader Newscastle Andy is waiting to make a verdict
